A small while ago Angela, the PR of Stefano Saccani group (distributor of Laura Mercier in Italy), invited me to the LM counter to spend some time with a mua. After the makeover (that you can find in this post) I had the chance to browse the counter and swatch a lot of things.
I knew Laura Mercier mostly for its 'flawless base' products but I found out there are many other interesting items in the line as well.
Poco tempo fa Angela, PR del gruppo Stefano Saccani, rivenditore di Laura Mercier in Italia, mi ha invitata ad un corner LM per passare un po' di tempo con una loro truccatrice. Dopo il makeover (che si trova in questo post) ho avuto del tempo per girare per il corner e swatchare parecchie cose.
Conoscevo Laura Mercier principalmente per i prodotti da 'flawless base' (base perfetta) ma devo dire di averne scoperti anche molti altri altrettanto interessanti.

First things first, if you're drooling over Laura Mercier line but feel overwhelmed by the amount of products and don't know where to begin from, I highly suggest to start with something for the base (foundations, powders, concealers) - it's not by chance that the main concept behind the brand is the "flawless face" one. There are more than 5 types of foundations/tinted moisturizers so they can suit pretty much every skin type (normal, oily, dry) and every need (light coverage, medium coverage, high coverage). I haven't tried them all but if you read this blog from time to time you'll know one of my favorite foundations ever is the Laura Mercier Silk Crème: medium to high coverage but very natural looking and with a radiant finish.
Per prima cosa, se state ammirando la linea Laura Mercier ma vi sembra di essere sommerse da troppi prodotti tra cui scegliere tanto che non sapete da che parte iniziare a provare qualcosa, personalmente vi consiglierei di partire da qualcosa per la base (fondotinta, ciprie, correttori) - non a caso l'idea principale dietro il marchio è proprio quella di "flawless face". Ci sono più di 5 tipi di fondotinta/creme colorate e quindi facilmente si trova quella adatta al proprio tipo di pelle (normale, secca, grassa) e alla propria necessità (bassa coprenza, media o alta). Non li ho provati tutti ma se ogni tanto leggete questo blog saprete che uno dei miei fondotinta preferiti di sempre è il Laura Mercier Silk Crème: coprenza da media ad alta ma che appare davvero naturale e con un finish che descriverei come radioso.
I had never put much attention in the rest of the line but that day at the counter I discovered a whole world of products that deserve more fame and the following are the ones that stood out to me the most.
Firstly, Cream Eye Liners. Creamy, long wearing (the one the mua used on me didn't move until I took it off at night) and are available in colors to die for: there's an electric blue (Cobalt) that I can see working nicely in summertime paired with a minimal look but the most beautiful to me are the darkened purple (Violet), the blue teal (Indigo) and the green teal (Canard) that's such an outstanding shade.
Also the color Graphite (see last pictures) that the mua used on me is really worth a go and is a never-seen-before color (at least by me) in cream eyeliner form.
Non avevo mai posto molta attenzione al resto della linea ma quel giorno al corner ho scoperto un intero mondo di prodotti che meriterebbero più nomea ed i seguenti sono quelli che mi hanno colpita maggiormente.
Per primi, i Cream Eye Liners. Anche Graphite (nelle ultime foto) che la mua ha usato su di me vale la pena di essere considerato ed è un colore che non avevo mai visto prima sottoforma di eyeliner in crema.

The idea may not be groundbreaking but sounds really interesting to me and it's something that not many brands make. I have to admit I didn't even know a specific product existed but now I'm making up my mind to get one, possibly the black.
Another eye product that left me jaw dropped was the Metallic Crème Eye Colour. And to think that I wasn't even interested in these too! Of course this was before I swatched them. If love at first swatch exists, that was what I experienced. Pictures don't do these eyeshadows justice. The finish is highly metallic yet very wearable when blended out. The shade Platinum puts into shame many illuminating cream shadows (like MAC Bare Study) and it will come home with me one day.

Keep in mind though that cake eyeliners are dry and need to be activated with a drop of Activator - but I read that many use just a drop of water, which is good to hear since the price of the Activator is rather steep (just 2-3 bucks less than the eyeliner itself).

L'idea non sarà avanguardia pura magari ma a parer mio ha il suo gran perché ed è anche un prodotto che non tutti i brand fanno. Devo anche ammettere che non sapevo neppure dell'esistenza di un prodotto specifico (che brava biutibloggher eh?) ma ora mi sto sempre più convincendo di prenderne uno, magari il nero.
Da tenere a mente però che questi sono eyeliner secchi, non scrivono da soli, e hanno bisogno di una goccia di Activator per diventare temporaneamente cremosi - ho letto però che molte persone utilizzano una goccia di normalissima acqua, il che è buono a sapersi dal momento che l'Activator ha un costo non irrisorio (di 2-3€ in meno rispetto all'eyeliner stesso).
Besides the Tightline Eyeliners there were the Caviar Stick Eye Colours. To be honest I wasn't interested in these at first as I thought there were nothing special. After all even Kiko has the same product for a fraction of the price, right? Oh, I was so wrong. They are pigmented, soft, smooth, with a satiny/frosty finish and a great blendability (that lacks in the Kiko ones and that's a major flaw for me). I suppose this makes them ideal to create a smokey eye in like 2 minutes. Now I have an eye on the shade Plum (stunning!), but I'd suggest you to swatch Sapphire, Jungle and Cocoa as well.
Here you can find good swatches, just to give you an idea of the awesomeness.
Accanto ai Tightline Eyeliner c'erano anche i Caviar Stick Eye Colours. Ad essere onesta non ero particolarmente interessata all'inizio poiché credevo fossero "nulla di che". Del resto persino Kiko ha lo stesso prodotto ad un costo ben inferiore, no? Eh, no. Mi sbagliavo decisamente. Questi sono pigmentati, morbidissimi, con finish frost/satinati e si sfumano che è una meraviglia (cosa che non posso dire degli ombretti in stick di Kiko, il che è per me un difetto non da poco). Visto questo loro aspetto li vedo bene per creare uno di quegli smokey da 2 minuti alle 7 del mattino. Neanche a dirlo, sto puntando Plum (stupendo) ma vi suggerirei di swatchare anche Sapphire, Jungle e Cocoa.
Qui ne trovate degli swatch validi, giusto per dare un'idea di quanto siano belli.

I highly recommend to swatch Alloy and Copper Sunrise too (see swatches here). But it's definitely better if you can swatch them all *wink*.
Un altro prodotto occhi che mi ha lasciata a bocca aperta sono stati i Metallic Crème Eye Colour. E pensare che non ero interessata neppure a questi! Certo tutto ciò accadeva prima che ne provassi uno. Folgorazione al primo swatch - e le immagini non rendono loro giustizia, avviso.
Il finish è altamente metallico ma al contempo molto portabile quando sfumato. La tonalità Platinum poi rende molti altri ombretti in crema illuminanti (tipo Bare Study di MAC) neppure paragonabili e un giorno, prima o poi, verrà a casa con me.

As you'll maybe know, lipsticks are my favorite makeup products, so I couldn't not to explore what Laura Mercier has to offer in this regard.
The color palette is pretty wearable and based on work-safe lipsticks for the most part, with different finishes and intensity: you won't find very dark tones or colors like purple or lilac, but that doesn't mean there are only boring nudes. On the contrary, I spot a good selection of berry, red, orangy and pink hues.
Come forse già saprete (anche senza forse), i rossetti sono quel prodotto di makeup che più preferisco e quindi non potevo esimermi dall'esplorare ciò che Laura Mercier ha da offrire in questo frangente.
La palette cromatica è molto 'portabile' e basata su tonalità per la maggior parte adatte anche a lavoro/lezioni, con finish ed intensità differenti: non vi si trovano colori scurissimi o toni come il lilla o il viola, ma ciò non significa che ci siano solo "nude" noiosi. Anzi, ho notato una vasta selezione di sfumature berry, rosse, aranciate e rosa.
My attention was grabbed by the Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colours, divided in three finishes (Sheer, Creme and Matte) and to be more precise by the shades MOD (bright, orangy red), Mink (muted brick red) and Chic (berry with fuchsia tones - which I received as gift).
If you like medium-dark lipstick, I recommend to try Merlot among the Crème Smooth Lip Colour: it's a dark wine shade when applied straight from the tube, but it's somewhat buildable and when applied with a lip brush it appears more of a medium berry red.
Another beautiful tone was recommended to me by Beatrice from Strawberry Makeup Bag: "Ale, you should check out Raspberry Sorbet!". And Bea's recommendations don't disappoint.
You can find Raspberry Sorbet, which is a medium berry pink, among the Satin Lip Colours (needless to say this is now on my wishlist as well...).
La mia attenzione è stata rapita soprattutto dai Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colours, divisi in tre finish (Sheer, Creme e Matte) e, volendo essere più precisi, dai colori MOD (un rosso aranciato acceso), Mink (rosso mattone spento) e Chic (un berry dalle note fucsia, o viceversa - che mi è stato gentilmente regalato quindi prima o poi farà la sua apparizione su questi schermi).

They smell actually like they're supposed to smell, very lifelike but with the addition of sweet notes I'd say: Ambre Vanille was a sweet but comforting mix of ambre and vanilla indeed, the same applies to Almond and Coconut Milk and so on.
The one I liked the least (or better say "the least") was Crème de Pistache but that's just a matter or personal taste as I'm not the biggest fan of pistachio scent anyway.
Months ago I bought two bath sets during SpaceNK sales (Fresh Fig and Creme Brulee) and I like them so much that I'm almost afraid to use and run out of them - by the way I recommend you to give a sniff at both scents. Another pleasant one was Almond and Coconut Milk.
Every scent has its own shower gel, scrub, soufflé cream, body butter, hand cream, honey bath and a 'eau gourmande' (perfume).
Unfortunately they are outrageously expensive but every year Laura Mercier releases some gift sets that are usually good deals. Otherwise you could buy a tube of hand cream for 13£/15$/18€ to have a bit of these heaven scents without sucking every cent out of the bank account.
Non so neppure da dove iniziare. "Correte ad annusarli subito!11!!" forse rende l'idea di quanto sto cercando di esprimere in modo più intelligente. O anche, chessò, "i profumi del paradiso".
Odorano esattamente di ciò che dovrebbero, in modo realistico, ma con l'aggiunta di note dolci direi: Ambre Vanilla era un dolce ma avvolgente mix di ambra e vaniglia appunto, la stessa cosa vale per Almond e Coconut Milk (mandorla e latte di cocco) e così via.
Quello che mi è piaciuto di meno (o per meglio dire "di meno") è stato Crème de Pistache ma è solo per una questione di gusti personali, visto che non sono una grandissima estimatrice del profumo del pistacchio in generale.
Mesi fa ho acquistato due set durante i saldi SpaceNK (Fresh Fig e Creme Brulee) e mi piacciono così tanto che ho quasi paura ad usarli perché non vorrei terminarli - tra l'altro vi consiglio di sentire entrambe le fragranze. Un'altra molto piacevole era Almond and Coconut Milk.
Ogni fragranza ha il suo gel doccia, scrub, crema soufflé, burro corpo, "honey bath" (bagnoschiuma per la vasca) e una 'eau gourmande' (profumo).
Purtroppo sono anche tremendamente esosi ma se non altro ogni anno Laura Mercier crea dei set regalo che sono di norma convenienti. Altrimenti, si può sempre acquistare una confezione di crema mani a 18€, giusto per avere un po' di questi profumi paradisiaci senza risucchiare ogni centesimo dal conto in banca.
I'm pretty sure there are other hidden treasures in the line but these were the ones that I discovered that day - and that are now (unfortunately I'd say) on my wishlist.

Odorano esattamente di ciò che dovrebbero, in modo realistico, ma con l'aggiunta di note dolci direi: Ambre Vanilla era un dolce ma avvolgente mix di ambra e vaniglia appunto, la stessa cosa vale per Almond e Coconut Milk (mandorla e latte di cocco) e così via.
Quello che mi è piaciuto di meno (o per meglio dire "di meno") è stato Crème de Pistache ma è solo per una questione di gusti personali, visto che non sono una grandissima estimatrice del profumo del pistacchio in generale.
Mesi fa ho acquistato due set durante i saldi SpaceNK (Fresh Fig e Creme Brulee) e mi piacciono così tanto che ho quasi paura ad usarli perché non vorrei terminarli - tra l'altro vi consiglio di sentire entrambe le fragranze. Un'altra molto piacevole era Almond and Coconut Milk.
Ogni fragranza ha il suo gel doccia, scrub, crema soufflé, burro corpo, "honey bath" (bagnoschiuma per la vasca) e una 'eau gourmande' (profumo).
Purtroppo sono anche tremendamente esosi ma se non altro ogni anno Laura Mercier crea dei set regalo che sono di norma convenienti. Altrimenti, si può sempre acquistare una confezione di crema mani a 18€, giusto per avere un po' di questi profumi paradisiaci senza risucchiare ogni centesimo dal conto in banca.

I'm pretty sure there are other hidden treasures in the line but these were the ones that I discovered that day - and that are now (unfortunately I'd say) on my wishlist.

Sono abbastanza certa che ci sono altri tesori nascosti all'interno del marchio ma questo è quanto ho scoperto quel giorno - e che è (purtroppo aggiungerei) saltato sulla mia lista infinita di desideri.
Spero che questo post sia stato in qualche modo, non so come, utile e declino ogni responsabilità in caso anche le voster liste dei desideri si stiano irrimediabilmente espandendo.
