Neve Cosmetics Nascondino concealer, swatches, comparison, first impressions

After many requests, the newest release by Neve Cosmetics, an italian indie and cruelty free company specialized in mineral and natural makeup, is a concealer. There aren't many concealers on the market that are made of natural ingredients, vegan-friendly and free from silicones, parabens and petrolatum and the idea of course tickled my fancy - considering I'm definitely a concealer user since Mother Nature equipped me with a pair of pesky undereye circles. The three shades above arrived at my door a mere week ago, so this is gonna be a post with first impressions and not a true review - the time span is really too short. My first thoughts aren't even well defined to be honest but since the release date for Nascondino was the other day and some people asked me what I think about it, here they are, my kinda confused impressions about the weirdest concealer I've ever tried.

Dopo molte richieste, l'ultimo lancio in casa Neve Cosmetics è, ebbene sì, un correttore. Non ci sono poi moltissimi correttori sul mercato che siano fatti di ingredienti naturali senza siliconi, parabeni, petrolati, vattelapesca e l'idea ovviamente mi incuriosiva non poco - considerando pure che sono una grande utilizzatrice di correttore visto che madre natura mi ha dotata di un paio di occhiaie moleste.
Le tre tonalità qui sopra sono arrivate sulla mia porta di casa una mera settimana fa; di conseguenza questo sarà un post di prime impressioni e non una vera e propria review - il lasso di tempo è davvero troppo breve. I miei primi pensieri in realtà non sono così definiti ma visto che la data di lancio è stata l'altro giorno e alcune persone mi hanno chiesto qualche parere a caldo, eccole qui, le mie pseudo confusionarie impressioni sul correttore più strano che abbia mia incontrato.






Nascondino (which is the italian word for "hide-and-seek") is a cream-to-powder concealer.
Think of those blushes with that impalpable texture that looks creamy in the pan but is instead thin and blend like a powder once applied...that. The texture of this concealer is exactly the same, even slightly more powdery.
Which is nice in a blush, but feels the weirdest in a concealer.
I'm used to the creamy ones that you have to apply with a brush, that you spread on the selected area and that you can see and feel they are spreading and setting. Nascondino is really another story.
It's like having a sort of thick powder under your fingetips, if this makes sense. It's somehow impalpable and I can't properly feel it under my fingers.
Because of that it doesn't give me the control I'd like as I can't understand how much concealer I'm applying, how thick it's going and where. I know that sounds silly but I hope you get the point (I told you this concealer is a weirdo).
It feels like the edges blend by themselves but at the same time it's like I can't realize if the concealer is properly blended in or not, if I'm building it up or not.
In a nutshell: think about the said cream-to-powder blushes and try to think of applying them to conceal an area smaller than you fingertip.
I keep talking about "fingetips" because this is the best application method for Nascondino when it comes to hide the undereye circles as the product needs to be warmed up a little.

Pensate a quei blush dalla texture impalpabile che sembra cremosa nella cialda ma che è invece sottile e si sfuma come una polvere una volta applicata...ecco, quella. La texture di Nascondino è esattamente la stessa, pure leggermente con più polvere all'interno.
Cosa che è apprezzabile in un blush ma sembra davvero strana in un correttore.
Personalmente sono abituata a quelli cremosi che si applicano con un pennello, che si spargono sull'area selezionata e che riesco a vedere e sentire che si stanno sfumando e fissando.
Nascondino invece è tutta un'altra cosa.
È come avere una sorta di polvere densa sotto le dita. È in un certo qual modo impalpabile e non riesco a percepirlo sotto il polpastrello.
Per tal motivo non mi dà il controllo che vorrei, visto che non riesco a capire quanto correttore sto applicando, dove e con che spessore. Mi rendo conto che suoni come una delle cose più idiote dell'anno ma spero di aver reso comunque ciò che intendo (l'ho detto che era un prodotto strano...).
Sembra come se i contorni si sfumassero da soli ma al contempo è come non riuscissi a cogliere se il correttore è stato ben sfumato oppure no, se lo sto modulando o no.
Riassumendo: visualizzate i suddetti blush cream-to-powder e provate ad immaginare di applicarli per correggere una zona più piccola di un polpastrello.
Tra l'altro continuo a ripetere "polpastrello" come un disco rotto perché il miglior metodo di applicazione, se si tratta di nascondere le occhiaie, è appunto con le dita dal momento che Nascondino trae solo beneficio se lo si scalda un po' prima di stenderlo.



It seems to me as if I'm touching a creamy formulation that turns into a powdery form as soon as it comes in contact with the skin.
Texture aside, one of the most FAQs about concealer is how pigmented it is: honestly it wasn't easy to understand that either. Sometimes it doesn't look enough for my dark circles, sometimes the coverage looks okay. All in all I'd say it sits in the light to medium category. It's somewhat buildable but not too much.
The longevity isn't exceptional: on the undereye area it lasts on me around 5-6 hours. It doesn't crease, which is surprising, but it slowly fades. When I remove it at the end of the day it leaves traces on the cotton pad, but the difference between the freshly applied Nascondino and the 6 hours later version is clearly visible.

Mi sembra come se stessi toccando una formulazione cremosa che diventa polvere non appena entra in contatto con la pelle.
Texture a parte, una delle domande più frequenti sul correttore è sicuramente quanta pigmentazione ha: onestamente non è stato facile capire neppure quello. Talvolta mi sembra che non sia sufficiente per le mie occhiaie, talvolta che la coprenza sia okay. In generale direi che si piazza nella categoria della coprenza da bassa a media. È vagamente modulabile ma non molto.
La durata purtroppo non la sto trovando eccezionale: sull'area dell'occhiaia mi dura attorno alle 5-6 ore. Non si infila nelle linee d'espressione, il che è ottimo, ma sembra comunque sbiadire man mano.
Quando lo rimuovo a fine giornata ve ne sono tracce sul dischetto di cotone, ma la differenza tra il Nascondino appena applicato e la versione di 6 ore dopo è palese.




There are 4 colors available - Light, Medium, Tan and Guava. I have the latter and the first two.

It stands out (I think) in the pictures how much yellow based the Light and Medium are.
Guava is more orange since it's the corrector of the bunch and is meant to counteract the blue of the dark circles.
As for the Light, as you can see it's not that light actually. I'd place it in the same range of MAC NC25 but with more yellow to it.
It's more similar to the Dior Sculpt n°2 rather than to the other shades - and the Nars and OCC one aren't even the lightest ones in the respective brands.

Balza all'occhio (credo) dalle foto quanto giallo ci sia in Light e Medium.
Guava è più arancio poiché è il corrector (diverso da concealer) pensato appositamente per contrastare il blu delle occhiaie scure.
Per quanto riguarda Light, come si nota non è così light in realtà. Lo posizionerei nello stesso range di un MAC NC25 ma con più giallo all'interno.
È più simile al Dior Sculpt n°2 (che chiaro non è...) piuttosto che alle altre tonalità - e la Nars e la OCC non sono neppure le più chiare dei rispettivi marchi.

Medium is instead what I'd call a true medium shade, with a ton of yellow to it too.
While Guava is very similar to Benefit Boiing n°3 in terms of hues but is a tad lighter.

Medium è invece ciò che chiamarei un vero e proprio tono medio, anch'esso con una gran quantità di giallo. Mentre Guava è parecchio simile al Benefit Boiing n°3 in termini di colore ma è un pizzico più chiaro.


Due to the tricky color selection, I see these working better as undereye concealers rather than for spot concealing, or at least on most people.
If you have neutral or pink undertones, Nascondino would just create a stark, yellow patch. If you're fair (MAC NC20 and below) it would do the same and it would be even worse if you have a darker complexion. However if you struggle with purple eye circles both Light and Medium, depending on your skintone, would do the job. If your dark circles lean on the blue side Guava may be a better choice.

Considerata la selezione cromatica un po' insolita, Nascondino lo vedrei meglio come correttore da occhiaia piuttosto che per lo spot concealing (la correzione dei brufoli uno ad uno insomma). O almeno sulla maggior parte delle persone.
Se avete un sottotono neutro o rosa, Nascondino purtroppo creerebbe una chiazza gialla e vivida. Se siete molto chiare di carnagione (MAC NC20 o meno) farebbe la stessa cosa e sarebbe pure peggio su una carnagione molto scura. Tuttavia se lottate con delle occhiaie violacee, Light e Medium, a seconda dell'incarnato, potrebbero fare al caso vostro. Se invece le occhiaie tendono di più al blu Guava può essere una scelta migliore.
