It's been a while since the last time a wishlist made an appearance on here, but that doesn't mean I haven't lusted over (too) many things in the meanwhile. I managed to buy some, but many others (too many actually) are still on my wish-I-can-buy-them-all list.
È passato un po' di tempo dall'ultima volta che una wishlist ha fatto la sua comparsa qui sul blog, ma ciò non significa che non abbia ardentemente sbavato sopra (troppe) cose nel frattempo. Alcune sono riuscita a comprarle ma molte altre (troppe) sono ancora sulla mia lista oh-vorrei-comprarle-tutte-grazie.
1. Caudalie Divine Legs
Okay,
now, I want this one pretty badly. And if Santa doesn't work in summer and
can't give me one, then I'll likely buy it myself ;)
I've
never tried a similar product - at least not as tinted - but I look
forward to give it a go. Basically it's a wash-off tinted lotion which
gives a subtle tanned effect to the legs and it also seems not to transfer onto clothes. I'm sold.
Ovvero Caudalie Gambe Divine. Okay,
ora. Lo desidero ardentemente (modalità bambina poco sopportabile che batte i
piedi: attivata). E se Babbo Natale non lavora in estate e non può
regalarmene uno, vorrà dire che molto probabilmente lo acquisterò da me
;) Non ho mai provato un prodotto simile - o almeno non così tanto colorato - ma non vedo l'ora di poterlo toccare con mano. Si tratta
praticamente di una lozione colorata da lavare via a fine giornata e che
intanto dona alle gambe un leggero effetto abbronzatura. E
sembra anche che non macchi gli abiti. Come si suol dire: venduto!
2. Aesop parsley seed mask
My
skin is on the drier side but I have some spots and blemishes on my
cheeks from time to time as well as blackheads that seem to love my
nose deeply. Because of that, I don't say 'no' to a clay or deep
cleansing mask. It's not that I actually need this one, but it would be a nice addition to my skincare stash.
La
mia pelle tende ad essere secca, vero, ma ogni tanto ho anche qualche
brufolo e imperfezione sulle guance, così come dei punti neri che sembrano
amare profondamente il mio naso. E proprio per questo non dico 'no' ad una maschera purificante o all'argilla. Non è che avrei esattamente bisogno di questa, ma sarebbe comunque una bella aggiunta all'esercito dei prodotti viso.
3. Caudalie Divine scrub
With
other two or three uses I'll be hit the bottom of the jar of Caudalie
Crushed Cabernet scrub and this fairly new one intrigues me a lot.
Although I quite like the Crushed Cabernet one, I think I prefer sugar
or salt scrubs over the ones with rough particles in them.
To be
honest I was about to add the infamous Caudalie Beauty Elixir to the list as well
(I've never ever tried it - what a poor beauty blogger, uh!) but the
list would have been too monothematic.

Crashed Cabernet di Caudalie e questo qui, relativamente nuovo, mi
intriga parecchio. Nonostante mi piaccia abbastanza il Crushed Cabernet,
credo di preferire gli scrub corpo al sale o allo zucchero, più che
quelli che contengono delle particelle ruvide ben evidenti. Poi, ad essere del
tutto onesta stavo per aggiungere anche il famoso Beauty Elixir di
Caudalie alla lista (ebbene sì, non l'ho mai provato - che beauty blogger scrausa
che sono) ma la lista sarebbe diventata un po' troppo monotematica, temo.
4. Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder
I
swear I tried to fight and resist and said "no, you won't get me,
Hourglass!". But who I was kidding...now I'm hooked. However, the
exorbitant price and the fact that it's only available on SpaceNK.com
(which means having to pay 9£ more for shipping) are good deterrent.
Nonetheless,
I try to picture in my mind what shade to pick when the day of the
purchase will come (because it will, ah-ah). Diffused Light or Dim
Light?
Giuro che ho provato a
lottare e a resistere e ho detto "no, Hourglass, non mi avrai!". Ma chi
volevo prendere in giro...ovviamente ci sono caduta con tutte le scarpe.
Però ammetto che il prezzo esorbitante ed il fatto che sia acquistabile
solo da SpaceNK (che significa spendere 9£ in più per la spedizione) sono
dei buoni deterrenti. Nonostante questo però, cerco di visionare
mentalmente che tonalità scegliere quando il giorno dell'acquisto verrà
(perché arriverà, ah-ah). La Diffused Light o la Dim Light?
5. Laura Mercier Invisible Setting Powder
I
rediscovered this product and how I adore it only lately. Beatrice gave me a little sample jar of it about a year ago. I used it but then
decided to save the last few bits and put the jar on the bottom of the
drawer. I took it out last month and fell in love with it. It sets my
undereye conealer like no other and it's not drying either.
Unfortunately Laura Mercier is not sold anywhere here in my city
but I'll buy a jar somehow, possibly from SpaceNK.

riscoperto questo prodotto e quanto lo adoro solo recentemente. Beatrice me ne ha dato una piccola jar circa un anno fa. L'ho usato
ma ho poi deciso di tenere gli ultimi rimasugli ed ho messo la jar da
parte in fondo al cassetto. L'ho rispolverata il mese scorso e me ne
sono innamorata. Riesce a fissarmi il correttore come nessun'altra
polvere e non secca neppure il contorno occhi. Purtroppo Laura
Mercier non è venduta da nessunissima parte nella mia città ma una jar
l'acquisterò in qualche modo, prima o poi, magari da SpaceNK.
6. Illamasqua Hydra Veil
Since the very first moment I saw a preview and read the description, this jumped on my wishlist. A rehydrating primer? Yes, please. A primer with a jello-like texture that seems to have life on its own? Double yes, please.
It may sound a bit of a gimmick but I read tons of positive reviews of it so far.
I started to wear primer not a long ago but prefer not to use it in summer because of the heat and also because my dry skin is more on the normal side in this season. But an hydrating base in the winter will be rather useful. Based on the ingredient list on Illamasqua website, it's a water based primer with a high percentage of glycerin, so it must feel light on the skin - unlike many heavy silicone based primers - and suppose it won't broke me out either.
The cherry on top: I still have a 20£ voucher to spend on Illamasqua.com, do I have to say more? ;)
Fin dal primissimo momento in cui ho visto una preview e letto la descrizione, questo prodotto è saltato di filata sulla mia lista dei desideri. Un primer reidratante? Sì, grazie. Un primer con una texture a gelatina che sembra vivere di vita propria? Doppio sì, grazie. Potrà anche sembrare tutto marketing e poca sostanza, ma finora ho letto una caterva di pareri positivi a riguardo. Ho iniziato ad usare un primer solo poco tempo fa ma preferisco non sfruttarlo in estate a causa del caldo e della mia pelle che da secca tende ad essere molto più normale in questa stagione, ma una base idratante mi sarebbe sicuramente utile in inverno. Stando anche agli ingredienti riportati sul sito Illamasqua, si tratta di un primer a base d'acqua con un'alta percentuale di glicerina e quindi deve avere anche una sensazione di leggerezza sulla pelle (credo) - a differenza di molti primer a base prettamente siliconica che risultano pesanti - e suppongo che non mi causerebbe neppure grandi problemi di pori occlusi, brufoli e compagnia al seguito. Per completare il tutto: ho ancora un buono di 20£ da spendere da Illamasqua, devo aggiungere altro? ;)

Tempo fa su Facebook avevo reso nota l'idea di voler iniziare una serie di post riguardanti il come risparmiare sul makeup o almeno, come risparmio io. Dove con 'risparmio', più che il riempire di spiccioli il salvadanaio, intendo il 'dove come quando acquistare' per togliersi qualche sfizio senza attirarsi l'odio del proprio portafoglio. Perché acquistare il makeup cosidetto high-end per meno, sì può (e vai di slogan!).
Tanti prodotti a prezzo pieno personalmente non me li sarei potuta permettere e molti altri non li avrei presi per il prezzo un po' troppo alto solo per uno sfizio da togliermi.
E sveliamo un altro segreto (maddeché): non sono solita acquistare prodotti di makeup a prezzo pieno/di listino. A parte quei marchi per cui è davvero impossibile avere il benché minimo sconto, cerco di comprare davvero sempre con qualche offerta o occasione.
Nel mio girare tra siti e offerte mi sono imbattuta mesi fa, non ricordo neppure come, in un'applicazione.
È un'app gratuita, che prima era nata sotto il nome di Garage ma da tempo si chiama Depop.
Premetto subito però che, per il momento almeno, è necessario essere iPhone o iPad o iPod Touch minute per utilizzare quest'app visto che gli sviluppatori devono ancora uscire con una versione per Android, ma mi auguro che lo facciano a breve.
(premessa: non è un post sponsorizzato e quelli di Depop non sanno neppure che esisto)
Struttura dell'app
Quello sopra è lo screenshot della struttura dell'app preso in prestito da iTunes.
Avete una home dove poter scorrere gli oggetti messi in vendita dalle persone che seguite, una pagina Esplora con gli oggetti più rilevanti, il vostro profilo e la sezione Attività, dove potete scrivere e rispondere ai messaggi privati che possono farvi o che potete inviare voi.
Andando nella sezione Esplora e cliccando sulla lente di ingrandimento in alto a sinistra si apre la finestra della ricerca: basta digitare la parola chiave ('Mac' - 'rossetto' - 'Guerlain' - 'vattelapesca') e vi comparirà la lista degli oggetti corrispondenti. Anche se non ho idea di cosa potrebbe apparirvi con 'vattelapesca'.
Acquisti e pagamenti
È come ebay? Non proprio. Potremmo definirlo una sorta di ebay casereccio.
Non si paga l'inserzione se decidete di vendere ed è tutto molto più diretto: prima di acquistare di norma si scrive un messaggio al venditore e ci si accorda per prezzi, spedizione, tempistiche, modalità, dati.
Il pagamento che molti preferiscono è la Postepay, semplicemente perché non richiede spese di commissione, ma pare che sempre più accettino anche Paypal. Non c'è comunque una regola, varia a seconda del venditore che vi trovate dall'altra parte.
Non esiste inoltre una sezione feedback come su ebay ma chi vende si arrangia come può, facendo gli screenshot delle foto o dei messaggi di chi ha acquistato e ricevuto l'oggetto.
Tutela
Assicuratevi che il venditore abbia pubblicato gli screenshot con i feedback a lui riferiti, che magari abbia già venduto parecchie cose, o che sia molto seguito/conosciuto e che magari condisca le foto con didascalie molto dettagliate. In una parola, che ispiri fiducia. Il motivo è che non godrete della tutela che vi offre ad esempio ebay, perché spesso i pagamenti vengono effettuati tramite ricarica Postepay o tramite passaggio di soldi su Paypal come amici/parenti.
Se non vi fidate, chiedete di poter pagare via Paypal regolarmente con la modalità di transazione 'commerciale' - così godrete del programma di protezione (i più preferiscono attuare un passaggio di soldi come amici/parenti non per disonestà nei vostri confronti ma per non doversi sobbarcare le spese di commissione di Paypal).
Non solo makeup
Mi sto focalizzando sull'acquisto di cosmetici et similia, ma in realtà su Depop trovate per lo più abbigliamento e accessori. Ma anche oggetti. E un bel po' di vintage.
Occhio alle sòle
Troverete un certo numero di ragazze che spacceranno cosmetici (parliamo di quelli senza addentrarci nell'abbigliamento altrimenti non ne usciamo più) farlocchi per veri. Palette di Dior mai viste sulla faccia della terra, presunti kajal di Chanel, eyeliner in gel di Nars in realtà mai prodotti e soprattutto MAC.
Di MAC trovate un po' di tutto, è la trasposizione cosmetica delle borse Chanel: tarocchi, tarocchi a iosa. Ma la buona notizia è che per il 90% si riconoscono subito e in caso di dubbio Google ci è amico: il rossetto Viva Glam Nicki VI ad esempio non è mai esistito, idem il Viva Glam VIII, così come della collezione Marilyn Monroe 2012 sono stati fatti solo 5 rossetti e non 15. O ancora, le varie palette tipo 88 colori MAC non ne produce. Ma in generale, specie dalle ragazze inglesi, mi sembra molto gettonata questa cosa del 'prodotto che sembra reale' > 'ma dal colore inventato e mai esistito'.
Il problema sorge quando vengono venduti tarocchi fatti "bene". In quel caso, se avete il dubbio, chiedete più foto dei dettagli. E soprattutto, il fatto che una persona abbia magari 4-5-6 ombretti o blush dello stesso colore, nuovi, in vendita ad un prezzo stranamente basso dovrebbe far suonare il campanello del sospetto.
Occhio alle sòle...ed anche ai prezzi
Su quest'app si riescono a fare affari niente male, ma girano appunto anche parecchie sòle, non ve lo nascondo. La buona notizia è che, anche qui, con un po' di arguzia e con l'aiuto di Google sono per lo più sgamabili.
Se trovate in vendita i pigmenti MAC a 5-8€ nella piccola jar che viene data in negozio (= sample gratuito che viene fornito con un acquisto) vedete voi se vi sta bene pagare o se preferite ordinare da un negozio MAC ed avere anche voi lo stesso pigmento gratis.
Se trovate in vendita i pigmenti stacked di MAC (edizioni limitate) a 20€ l'uno quando tutto il set da 4 pigmenti di listino viene 40€, vedete voi.
Se trovate dei tester di profumeria malconci e magari sditazzati venduti a più della metà del costo di listino, vedete voi.
Tester?
Qui il 'vedete voi' non è più ironico ma serio.
Molti dei prodotti nuovi e intonsi che sono in vendita su Depop non riportano la dicitura 'tester' - non potrebbero essere venduti, del resto e in teoria - ma ho il sospetto che possano esserlo, vista anche l'assenza frequente della confezione esterna.
In quanto tester è molto probabile che chi li vende li abbia avuti gratis e di conseguenza sta a voi regolarvi, se vi sta bene fare un acquisto risparmiando e "arricchire" le tasche del venditore o restare saldi ai vostri eventuali principi del "sticavoli, se lo facevo anch'io a quest'ora mi facevo la villa, non è giusto" ed evitare.
Nell'immagine iniziale c'è una raccolta di tutto ciò che ho acquistato su Depop dallo scorso inverno (ovviamente non ho acquistato tutto in blocco perché non ho vinto alla lotteria, per ora) con i prezzi di listino VS quelli a cui ho acquistato. Sono (erano) tutti prodotti nuovi, eccetto la Stereo Rose di MAC che risale alla collezione di gennaio (a detta della ragazza che me l'ha venduta ed anche a detta di Google - ho controllato il batch di produzione, so' tremenda) e che è stata un po' usata; ma poco importa perché prima di finirla farò probabilmente in tempo a veder nascere i miei pronipoti. Il colpaccio più colpaccio credo però che sia stato il profumo di Guerlain (originale) (va bene dai, chiamiamo le cose col loro nome: botta di fondoschiena!).
E questo penso sia tutto. Svelato uno dei miei segreti (di pulcinella, sì) sul risparmio cosmetico. ;)

Last week the lovely Drama & Makeup (if you don't know her blog, you should definitely check it out!) did a post with her top 5 products for when she's late and due to the massive feedback she decided to make it a tag, which is now all the rage on many blogs made in Italy.
I find such posts rather interesting as I like to snoop in other bloggers' 5-min-only makeup routine, see what they highlight and what they prefer to skip.
So I thought I'd do this tag too and here are my top 5 products (+1) for those (frequent) days when I don't have time or don't feel like doing a whole face makeup.
La scorsa settimana la carinissima Drama & Makeup (se non conoscete il suo blog dovete farci un salto!) ha fatto un post coi suoi 5 prodotti top per quando si ritrova in ritardo e visto l'enorme feedback ricevuto ha deciso di farne un tag, che tra l'altro sta spopolando a iosa su un sacco di blog.
Trovo sempre in un certo senso interessante questo genere di post, dal momento che mi piace curiosare nella routine altrui da solo-5-minuti, vedere cosa le altre enfatizzano e cosa preferiscono invece saltare.
Potevo esimermi dal farlo anch'io questo tag? Potevo, ma invece l'ho fatto ed ecco qui i miei prodotti top 5 (+1) per quei giorni (frequenti) in cui non ho tempo o voglia di realizzare un makeup completo.
As you might guess from the first photo, I give place mainly to the base because I do believe that a (almost) flawless base can make me look nice regardless - and also because I don't think the world out there would love to see my undereye circles.
Come magari avrete intuito dalla prima foto, do spazio principalmente alla base perché credo che una base (quasi) perfetta mi renda presentabile nonostante tutto - ed anche perché immagino che il mondo là fuori non amerebbe beccarsi le mie occhiaie.
Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix
I don't have a very problematic skin but neither is it flawless (spots, imperfections, uneveness) and foundation does a big difference for me. In the pic there is Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum but I tend to use that and the standard version of Healthy Mix interchangeably.
Both are ideal for a super quick makeup because they're foolproof to apply, blend very easily and look natural. With one of the two and Real Techniques Buffing or Expert Face brush my base is ready within a minute.
Non ho una pelle troppo problematica ma non è neppure perfetta (brufoli, imperfezioni, discromie) e il fondotinta fa una grande differenza per me. Nella foto c'è il Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum ma tendo ad usare quello e l'Healthy Mix versione standard senza troppe distinzioni.
Entrambi sono l'ideale per un makeup super veloce poiché l'applicazione è a prova di impedito, si sfumano e amalgano con la pelle davvero facilmente e l'effetto finale è naturale.
Con uno dei due e il Buffing brush o l'Expert Face di Real Techniques la mia base è pronta in un minuto.
Concealer: NARS Radiant Creamy concealer
This is another essential step in my makeup routine. As soon as I cover up my pesky dark cirlces I look in fact a lot more awake (and decent). Doing a complex eye makeup without any base would be pointless in my case as the undereye circles would grab all the attention anyway (I think). Here is a review.
Questo è un altro step essenziale nella mia routine cosmetica. Appena copro le mie occhiaie moleste sembro infatti già molto più sveglia (e decente). Creare un trucco occhi coi controcavoli senza base alcuna non avrebbe davvero senso nel mio caso, dal momento che le occhiaie attirerebbero comunque tutta l'attenzione (credo). Qui la review.
Blush: MAC Pink Cult or any other one
I don't usually make distinctions between a blush or another even if I'm late. I grab the one close at hand that can be paired with the liptick of the day.
However, supposing I'm extremely late, I play it safe with MAC Pink Cult: a muted, dusty pink that gives a healthy flush of color to the apple of the cheeks and goes with pretty much everything.

Di solito non faccio distinzioni tra un blush e un altro pure se sono in ritardo. Affero il primo che ho a portata di mano e che può abbinarsi bene al rossetto del giorno.
Però, immaginando d'essere estremamente in ritardo, vado sul sicuro con Pink Cult di MAC: un rosa polvere (esisterà come colore?) un po' spento che dona un colorito effetto salute in viso e che va più o meno con tutto.

Lipstick(s)
The same goes for lipsticks. Even when I don't have much time I tend to focus on the lips and choose whatever color I feel like wearing that day.
Maybe I wouldn't go for MAC Ruby Woo if I have only 5 minutes to make my face look decent, but I like to dedicate some time to lipstick application.
Nonetheless, if I'm outrageously late and have to cut everything down, I choose one of the two lipsticks perfect for such situations: Paul & Joe 202 Pret-a-porter or Paul & Joe 105 First Kiss.
The first one is a pink nude with light to medium pigmentation, while the other one is a very sheer strawberry pink, just like a moisturizing tinted lip balm that can be applied even without a mirror.
La stessa cosa vale per i rossetti. Anche quando non ho molto tempo tendo a focalizzarmi sulle labbra e a scegliere qualunque colore abbia voglia di indossare quel giorno.
Magari non andrò di Ruby Woo di MAC se ho solo 5 minuti per rendere presentabile l'intero viso, ma mi pace comunque dedicare un po' di tempo all'applicazione del rossetto.
Ma nonostante questo, se sono in ritardo in modo oltraggioso del tipo che non sono pronta, già mi aspettano fuori casa e devo ridurre tutto al minimo, allora scelgo uno dei due rossetti perfetti per tali situazioni: Paul & Joe 202 Pret-a-porter o Paul & Joe 105 First Kiss. Il primo è un nude rosa con una pigmentazione da leggera a media, mentre l'altro è un rosa fragola molto sheer, alla stregua di un balsamo colorato che può essere applicato anche senza specchio.
Eyeshadow: MAC Bare Study paintpot
It's not rare that I don't do a full eye makeup even when I can take my time. Even more so, I avoid doing that when I'm in a hurry. In such situations, cream eyeshadow is da way.
A quick swipe of Bare Study all over the lid and I'm done. That's enough to brighten my eyes up. In all honesty MAC paint pots don't last for more than 3 hours before creasing on me but I'm too lazy to apply a primer underneath every time.
Non è cosa rara che io non realizzi un intero makeup occhi anche quando posso prendermela con calma. E a maggior ragione evito di farlo quando sono di fretta. In tali situazioni, la via della salvezza (se vabbé...) per me è l'ombretto in crema.
Una passata veloce di Bare Study su tutta la palpebra ed ho fatto, tanto basta per accendere un po' lo sguardo. In tutta onestà i pain pot di MAC non durano più di 3 ore su di me prima di iniziare a migrare verso le pieghe dell'occhio, ma sono troppo pigra per applicarci un primer al di sotto ogni volta.
+1 additional option Black eyeliner: Lancome Art Liner
There's a love affair going on between me and black eyeliner, but that's not new.
Whenever it is thin or thick, short or flicked, a black line on my eyes is what makes me look like a 20 something girl instead of a teenager. I can easily skip eyeshadow if I define my lashline and I could even not to wear any lipstick (am I really saying it?). It feels like my face isn't still 'bare' once I trace that black line.
However, althought eyeliner is an essential item in my stash - and this one by Lancome is hands down the best I've tried - sometimes I have to skip it when I run low on time.
Of course black eyeliner enhances my eyes but just if the line doesn't look done by a drunk person during a hearthquake. And that's tricky when you have only a handful of minutes at your disposal.
So, if I can sacrifice 3 minutes more despite being late, then I do include eyeliner to all these steps.
C'è una storia d'amore cosmetico che ormai va avanti tra me e l'eyeliner nero, ma questa non è una novità.
Che sia sottile o più spessa, corta o con una coda, una linea nera sugli occhi è ciò che mi fa sembrare una 20ennequalcosa anziché una 15enne. Posso tranquillamente saltare l'ombretto se definisco la linea delle ciglia e potrei persino non indossare alcun rossetto (lo sto davvero dicendo?).
È come se il mio viso non fosse più 'spoglio' una volta tracciata questa benedetta linea nera di eyeliner.
Però, per quanto questo sia un prodotto essenziale nel mio arsenale del makeup - e questo di Lancome vinca il premio del migliore provato finora - talvolta devo evitarlo quando il tempo stringe davvero.
Okay che un eyeliner nero mi enfatizza lo sguardo ma solo se la linea non sembra fatta da un ubriaco durante un terremoto. Il che può essere complicato quando ci sono solo una manciata di minuti a disposizione. Di conseguenza, se posso sacrificare altri 3 minuti nonostante il ritardo, includo anche l'eyeliner in tutti questi passaggi.

I've had this palette on my radar for months. The shades are easy to wear and so-me (really, I can use all 6 of them), convenient and pocket-friendly. In other words: a good option to start with NARS' eyeshadows for the first time. Unfortunately it wasn't available anywhere but at SpaceNK where it went out of stock and restocked a few times (call me a website stalker!) but finally I managed to buy it during my last shopping spree on SpaceNK.com some weeks ago.
I know that it's now pretty hard to find but I was asked to swatch the shades and briefly talked about them anyway. I decided to do so as soon as possible so maybe you can still have the chance to find one of this palettes somewhere (I'd suggest to stalk SpaceNK.com but it's worth searching on Amazon too) and know what to expect from it.
In case you won't be able to find it anywhere, don't get mad, because 6 eyeshadows out of 6 are part of the permanent line and you can buy the ones you like the most whenever you want.
Ho tenuto d'occhio questa palette per mesi. Tonalità facili da usare e nel mio genere (davvero, riesco ad usare tutti e 6 gli ombretti contenuti), comoda e tascabile. In altre parole: una buona opzione da cui partire per provare degli ombretti NARS per la prima volta. Purtroppo però non era disponibile da nessuna parte ad eccezione di SpaceNK (catena di negozi inglese - con uno shop online) dove è andata sold out e riassortita per più volte (chiamatemi pure la stalker dei siti web). Alla fine sono però riuscita ad acquistarla settimane fa sul sito di SpaceNK appunto, durante l'ultimo round di spese folli coi saldi. Sono consapevole che ora è molto difficile trovarla ma mi è stato chiesto di farne degli swatch e di parlare comunque brevemente degli ombretti all'interno ed ho quindi deciso di farlo il primo possibile, in modo che abbiate ancora eventualmente la possibilità di trovare una di queste palette da qualche parte e sapere cosa aspettarvi (suggerirei di stalkerare SpaceNK ma vale anche la pena cercare su Amazon). Tuttavia, in caso non riusciate a trovarla da nessuna parte, non imprecate e non disperate, perché 6 ombretti su 6 sono parte della linea permanente e potete sempre acquistare quelli che vi garbano di più quando volete.
This is gonna be a 'first impression' kind of post since I haven't had enough time to test it out thoroughly - it would have taken me way too much time and in the meanwhile the palette would have been sold out everywhere for sure - so keep that in mind while reading ;)

If you make up your mind to buy the palettes that NARS is going to release in the autumn/winter collection, consider that those are as tiny as this one. I knew the 'And God Created the Woman' was small and ideal for travel, but not this small (it's smaller than an iPhone and the Urban Decay Naked Basics). The very first thing coming to my mind when I opened the box was "man if this is tiny!" and the doubt that it wasn't worth the money did cross my mind as well. But no panic, my very first impression was wrong.
And God Created the Woman has a well thoughful combination and houses eyeshadows of different tones and finishes.

Se state progettando di acquistare le palette che NARS commercializzerà nella collezione autunno/inverno, sappiate che sono piccole come questa. Okay, sapevo che la And God Created the Woman era ridotta e ottima per il viaggio, ma non pensavo così ridotta (è più piccola di un iPhone e della Urban Decay Naked Basics). Il primissimo pensiero che mi è venuto quando ho aperto la confezione è stato "oddio se è minuscola!" ed il dubbio che non valesse i soldi spesi mi è anche passato per la mente. Ma niente paura, la mia primissima impressione era sbagliata. And God Created the Woman ha una combinazione di colori a mio avviso ben pensata e racchiude ombretti di diversi toni e finish. Da sinistra a destra, prima fila: Alhambra (I), Bellissima (II), Kalahri (I) Da sinistra a destra, seconda fila: Galapagos, Coconut Grove, Night Clubbing Le tonalità della prima riga fanno parte di alcuni duo di NARS mentre le altre sono vendute singolarmente.
Alhambra(left side of duo) is a champagne color with subtle shimmer on the pink side and it's oh-so-beautiful used to highlight the brow bone or the inner corner, but also all over the lid to brighten up the eye - supposing your complexion is fair, light or light to medium.
The texture is smooth and velvety and the pigmentation is a little sheer, which makes it ideal for highlighting (read: not too much, natural looking). Comparison: I thought it'd be similar to Urban Decay Virgin eyeshadow from the Naked 1 but it's definitely not. Virgin is more shimmery and pinker. I prefer the NARS one to be honest as it's also become my new favorite highlighting shade of the moment.
Alhambra(lato sinistro del duo) è un color champagne con un leggero effetto shimmer che vira al rosa ed è davvero valido per illuminare l'arcata sopraccigliare o l'angolo interno, ma anche su tutta la palpebra per accendere lo sguardo - supponendo che la vostra carnagione vada da molto chiara a medio-chiara. La texture è omogenea e setosa e la pigmentazione è un po' sheer, cosa che lo rende a mio avviso ideale al suo scopo di 'illuminante' (leggi: non è troppo, risulta naturale). Comparazione: Pensavo che sarebbe stato simile all'ombretto Virgin della Naked1 di Urban Decay ma non lo è affatto. Virgin è più shimmer e più rosato. Ad essere onesta preferisco quello NARS visto che è pure diventato il mio nuovo ombretto-da-highlighting del momento.
Bellissima (right side of duo) is a matte taup-ish light brown with an average pigmentation and a bit dry texture. The base is matte but if you look close at the pan you can spot some (very) fine and sparse glitter particles, which don't show up on the skin though. Comparison: In the pan Bellissima reminds me of Urban Decay Naked2 eyeshadow but when I swatched them side by side I saw I was wrong. A part from the undetectable glitter, the NARS shadow is also darker although the main difference is the texture. Naked 2 is more creamy in a sense, the powder is less "thin" and more pigmented. I prefer this one over Bellissima.
I have no clue on how the other shade of Bellissima duo is in terms of quality, but given this one is okay but not over-the-top, I wouldn't recommend to shell out 34$ / 34€ / 25£ for this specific duo.
Fun fact: Bellissima is an italian feminine adjective that means 'very beautiful' ;)
Bellissima (lato destro del duo) è un marrone chiaro dai richiami taupe con un finish matte, una pigmentazione nella media ed una texture leggermente asciutta. La base è matte ma se osservate la cialda da vicino si scorgono dei micro shimmer davvero (davvero) finissimi, che non appaiono però sulla pelle (sicché...). Comparison: dalla cialda Bellissima mi ricorda l'ombretto Naked2 di Urban Decay ma quando li ho swatchati l'uno accanto all'altro ho visto che mi sbagliavo. Al di là di questi glitter impercettibili, il NARS è più scuro, sebbene la differenza principale sia nella texture. Il Naked2 è in un certo senso cremoso, la polvere è meno 'sottile' ed ha una pigmentazione maggiore. Io lo preferisco a Bellissima. Non ho idea di come sia l'altro colore del duo Bellissima in termini di qualità, ma dato che questo qui è sì okay ma non eccelso, non consiglierei di sganciare 34€ per questo duo in particolare.
Kalahri (left side of duo) is one of those colors that I can't properly describe - let's try it. It's a sort of golden bronze with finest shimmer. The brush kicks up a bit of this compact shimmer from the pan but at the same time the texture can't be called powdery (I'm not sure this makes sense outside my head tho). The pigmentation is also good and the fall out is minimal (non existent when applied over a primer). I absolutely love this eyeshadow and when used wet achieves a sort of metallic effect that's simply stunning. Comparison:Right when I was thinking Kalahri (I) was similar to Urban Decay Sin (it's not at all) a bell rang in my head: Sidecar from the Naked1!
They are actually similar in color but Sidecar is more luminous and has that silver glitter that makes me wanna go down the street shouting "fallout city!". No really, I do like it but I can't stand such fall outs when it comes to eyeshadows. So I'm more than glad to have found a quite similar shade but with better formula and texture.
Kalahri (lato sinistro del duo) è uno di quei colori che non riesco a descrivere come si deve - proviamoci. È una sorta di bronzo dorato (!) con dei finissimi shimmer. Il pennello solleva un po' di questi shimmer compatti dalla cialda ma al contempo la texture non si può definire polverosa (non sono sicura che ciò abbia un senso al di fuori della mia testa ma comunque...). La pigmentazione è pure buona ed il fall out è davvero minimo, inesistente se lo si applica sopra ad un primer. Ecco io questo ombretto lo adoro e quando usato bagnato raggiunge una sorta di effetto metallico che è semplicemente stupendo. Comparison: Proprio quando stavo pensando che Kalahri (I) fosse simile a Sin di Urban Decay (decisamente no) mi è suonato un campanello in testa: Sidecar dalla Naked1! Sono effettivamente simili nel colore ma Sidecar è più luminoso ed ha quei glitter argentati che mi fanno venir voglia di scendere in strada ed urlare "la fiera del fallout è qui!". No davvero, mi piace molto ma non riesco a sopportare simili 'cadute' quando si tratta di ombretti. Quindi nonostante la somiglianza, sono più che contenta di aver trovato una tonalità sì simile, ma con formula e texture migliori.
Galapagos is another beautiful color, if you ask me, and NARS describes it as "bitter chocolate infused with gold" (and now I'm craving for some chocolate). Basically it is a medium brown with a remarkably warm base and golden sparkles here and there, which translate shyly on the lid without fallouts. The pigmentation is good and so is the blendability. Comparison:Galapagos and TheBalm Silly (Nude'Tude palette) share the same concept of sparse golden glitter in a brown base. TheBalm one is darker and less warm in tone though.
Galapagosè un altro bel colore e NARS lo descrive come "cioccolato amaro infuso d'oro" (ora m'è pure venuta voglia di cioccolato, sorvoliamo). Sostanzialmente si tratta di un marrone con una base spiccatamente calda e di glitter dorati sparsi qua e là, che si trasferiscono timidamente anche sulla palpebra senza cadere. La pigmentazione è buona, così come la sfumabilità. Comparison: Galapagos e Silly (dalla palette Nude'Tude di TheBalm) condividono lo stesso concetto di glitter dorati sparsi in una base marrone. Il TheBalm è però più scuro e con un tono meno caldo.
Coconut Grove is a dark neutral brown. I know most people who got this eyeshadow swear by it and describe it as 'rich', 'perfect as eyeliner', 'intense', 'more than pigmented' and so on. I believe NARS messed up the formulation of this Coconut Grove version included in these palettes because mine is nothing but 'rich' or 'more than pigmented'. The color payoff here is average (or a little below) and despite it's a nice shade for the crease, it's almost impossible to use as eyeliner because of the not-so-great pigmentation. Comparison:It's a more subtle version of TheBalm Sleek from the Nude 'Tude palette.
Coconut Groveè un marrone scuro dal sottotono ben bilanciato. So che la maggior parte delle persone che ha preso questo ombretto (singolo) crede ciecamente nella sua resa e lo descrive come 'ricco', 'perfetto come eyeliner', 'intenso', 'più che pigmentato' e così via. Io in realtà credo che NARS abbia combinato qualcosa con la formulazione di questa versione di Coconut Grove contenuta in queste palette perché il mio è tutto fuorché 'ricco' o 'più che pigmentato'. La resa del colore è nella media (o anche qualcosa sotto) e nonostante sia una tonalità comunque sfruttabilissima per la piega dell'occhio, è quasi impossibile da usare come eyeliner a causa di questa pigmentazione non eccelsa. Comparison:È una versione più leggera di Sleek di TheBalm della palette Nude'Tude.
Night Clubbing is an eyeshadow that can easily fool you. In the pan it just looks gorgeous: a black packed with golden glitter that almost looks like a dark green. Aww.
Unfortunately, this guy here looks nothing like that once swatched and the situation gets worse once it's used on the eye (it turns into a matte dark grey with undetectable sparse glitter) . From 'amazing' to 'meh'. At least there's no fallout whatsoever.
DUPE ALERT!
I know what you're thinking: "girl, you must be drunk if you think the two in the pic are dupes".
I know they don't look so on the arm but trust me, on the eye they're identical - and this comes from a person who doesn't cry wolf dupe all the time.
I applied Night Clubbing on an eye, the Inglot AMC 64 on the other one and I swear I couldn't see any difference.
Like said before, the NARS one looks interesting swatched on your hand but is disappointing once on the lid: the golden glitter appears incredibly subtle, just like the Inglot one.
The result improves a bit if NC is applied wet - the shimmer is slightly more evident - but in all honesty I wouldn't recommend to buy Night Clubbing on its own. If you like the idea of a dark grey/almost black base with sparse golden glitter, then get the Inglot AMC 64 instead and save some money.

semplicemente stupendo: un nero intriso di glitter dorati che sembra
quasi un verde scuro. Aww. Purtroppo però, questo tizio qui una volta
swatchato non ha nulla a che vedere con la descrizione di cui sopra e la
situazione peggiora pure quando viene usato sull'occhio (diventa un
grigio scuro matte con dei glitter sparsi praticamente invisibili). Da
'stupendo' a 'meh'. Se non altro non v'è alcuna sorta di fallout.
ALLARME DUPE! So che state pensando: "amica, devi essere ubriaca se pensi che i due nella foto siano dupe". Lo so lo so, non lo sembrano sul braccio ma, credetemi, sull'occhio sono praticamente identici - detto da una che non urla al lupo al dupe ogni 2 x 3. Ho applicato Night Clubbing su un occhio, l'Inglot AMC 64 sull'altro e giuro che non ho notato differenze particolari. Come
detto in precedenza, il NARS sembra interessante swatchato sulla mano
ma deludente una volta che è sulla palpebra: i glitter oro appaiono
incredibilmente timidi, come con l'Inglot. Il risultato migliora un
po' se NC è usato bagnato - shimmer leggermente più evidente - ma in
tutta onestà non consiglierei di comprare la cialda singola di Night
Clubbing per 24€. Se vi piace l'idea di una base grigio scuro/quasi nera
con particelle dorate qua e là, buttatevi sull'AMC 64 di Inglot e risparmiate soldi.

NARS And God Created the Woman set retails for 40,50£ / 59$ (105$ value). If you are in the US you can easily grab one palette from Sephora. If you live in Europe, then the matter gets more complicated because, as far as I know, it's a SpaceNK exclusive.
The palette houses 6g/0.03oz of product (1g each eyeshadow) while NARS single eyeshadows are 2.2g/0.07oz and duos contain 4g/0.14oz. With a NARS palette you get basically the same amount of product of a MAC quad, but here you have 6 colors instead of 4.
And God Created the Woman is limited edition but you the shades included are permanent.
Il set di NARS And God Created the Woman (con pennello e primer inclusi) ha un costo di 40,50£ (ed un valore di circa 70£). Purtroppo il problema principale di questa palette è la reperibilità: in USA è venduta da Sephora ma non da noi. Da quello che so, in tutta Europa l'unico rivenditore è SpaceNK, catena inglese che ha appunto il suo sito internet. Al momento su tale sito è sold out ma vi consiglierei di stalkerarlo un po': l'hanno riassortita più volte, hai visto mai che lo facciano di nuovo. La palette ospita 6g di prodotto (1g ogni ombretto) quando gli ombretti singoli di NARS sono di 2.2g ed i duo di 4g. Con le palette NARS avete praticamente la stessa quantità di prodotto che trovate in un quad di MAC, solo che qui avete 6 tonalità anziché 4. Questa palette è un'edizione limitata ma le tonalità all'interno sono permanenti.
Some colors are more pigmented than others but none is overly pigmented, which makes them easy to work with after all, but don't expect them to be that kind of eyeshadow you have to barely touch with the tip of the brush. On the other hand, you don't need to scratch the pan either.
These eyeshadows also don't know what being powdery means, they blend effortlessly and manege to last even for 5-6 hours with no primer and without loose vibrancy or creasing (I was impressed). However, speaking of the three shades sold individually, I'm not sure I could say "go and grab one". The quality is surely there but, in my opinion, it's not however so incredibly amazing to justify the price of 24$ | 24€ | 18£ a pop (the whole palette worth the money instead).
Check and swatch: Alhambra duo, Kalhari duo, Galapagos (amazing the first two, pretty the latter) Skip: Bellissima and Night Clubbing (not worth the money).
Alcuni colori sono più pigmentati di altri ma nessuno è estremamente pigmentato, il che dopo tutto li rende facili da utilizzare, ma non aspettatevi che siano quel tipo di ombretto che dovete toccare appena con la punta del pennello. D'altra parte però non c'è neppure bisogno di grattare la cialda. Questi ombretti inoltre non hanno idea di cosa significhi essere polverosi, si sfumano con facilità e riescono a durare persino 5-6 ore senza primer e senza perdere vivacità o insinuarsi nelle pieghe (sono rimasta colpita). Tuttavia, se parliamo delle tre tonalità vendute singolarmente, non sono sicura di potervi dire "andate e compratele assolutamente!". La qualità c'è ma, a mio avviso, non è però così incredibilmente favolosa da giustificare i 24€ a cialda (parlo esclusivamente di queste che ho provato e non degli ombretti NARS in generale, sia chiaro, sperando sempre che la qualità della palette rispecchi quella degli ombretti singoli, cosa che non sembre accade) (l'intera palette invece la cifra la vale e la consiglierei). Date un'occhiata e swatchate: Il duo Alhambra, il duo Kalhari, Galapagos (bellissimi i primi due, carino l'ultimo) Saltate: Bellissima and Nigh Clubbing (non valgono la spesa)
I can't believe we're already in August, which means that more than half a year has gone by and I'm kind of shocked. August is, however, my favorite month of the year, but I might be a little biased on this one because of my birthday, which is in exactly 22 days ("I'm only 18 I'm only 18 I'm only 18" - time for self-conviction!). Okay, enough rambling, and I think you guys are on here to sneak a peak on my monthly favorites, rather than reading my (boring) business, so here we go!

Agosto è tuttavia il mese dell'anno che preferisco, anche se qui potrei essere un attimo di parte a causa del mio compleanno, che è tra 22 giorni esatti ("ho solo 18 anni ho solo 18 anni ho solo 18 anni" - tempo per un po' di auto-convinzione!). Ma non perdiamoci in sproloqui vari perché immagino sarete qui per dare un'occhiata ai preferiti del mese, più che per ascoltare i miei (noiosissimi) affari, quindi iniziamo!
I haven't many makeup items on the Favorites List this month because I changed colors and products quite often and stucked to just a few (two) of them. On the other hand, I have a handful of skincare and bath related gems - I suppose I have to thank this heat wave that makes me wanna have five showers a day.
Non ho molti prodotti di makeup sulla Lista dei Preferiti di questo mese perché ho cambiato prodotti e colori abbastanza spesso e sono rimasta fedele solo a pochissimi (due). Dall'altra parte però, ho una manciata di tesori nel campo skincare e roba-da-bagno - presumo di dover ringraziare questa ondata di caldo che fa va venire voglia di farmi cinque docce al giorno.
MAC Stereo Rose MSF
My very first MAC Mineralize Skinfinish. I never thought I'd be a MSF fan (actually I'm not yet) since I haven't been blown away by them when I swatched some at a MAC counter - really, even the famous Soft & Gentle didn't call my name at all. But, there's a but. A little while ago I went to Venice and, among other things, I stopped by a MAC counter where I saw with surprise that Stereo Rose was still available. It was reprometed back in January and althought it intrigued me, I told myself not to get caught by the mere hype.
Well, once swatched it in person I clearly saw that it's not only hype, it's gorgeous instead.
Unfortunately I couldn't buy it that day but a few weeks later I found a girl that wanted to sell hers and I was more than glad to give her Stereo Rose a new home for a fraction of the price. Chiara described it as a "cheekbone maker" and that's exactly what this MSF is. I've been happily using it as a blush and highlighter all in one.
La mia primissima Mineralize Skinfinish di MAC. Non avevo mai pensato di poter essere una fan delle MSF (in realtà non lo sono ancora) visto che non mi hanno particolarmente rapita quando ne ho swatchate alcune al counter MAC - davvero, neppure la famosa Soft&Gentle mi chiama, anzi, proprio l'opposto. Ma c'è un ma. Un po' di tempo fa mi sono recata a Venezia e, tra le altre cose, ho fatto una tappa veloce al counter MAC dove ho visto con non poca sorpresa che la Stereo Rose era ancora disponibile. Era stata riproposta ancora in gennaio ma, per quanto mi intrigasse, mi sono detta di non farmi prendere dal mero 'hype' (o fama, che dir si voglia).
Ecco, una volta swatchata dal vivo ho potuto ben notare che no, qua non c'è solo la fama e che invece è proprio una meraviglia.
Purtroppo non ho potuto acquistarla quel giorno ma poche settimane più tardi ho trovato una ragazza che voleva vendere la sua ed io sono stata più che lieta di dare alla sua Stereo Rose una nuova casa, per una frazione del prezzo iniziale. Chiara l'aveva a suo tempo descritta come un "fabbrica zigomi" ed è esattamente ciò che questa MSF è. La sto felicemente usando come blush e illuminante tutto in uno.
Shu Uemura eyelash curler
This heat weave sucks energy out of me and the thing I'd feel like doing the most is lying in bed with the fan on. Therefore I don't even feel like doing a whole face makeup and I've been skipping the eye step entirely, except for this little friend here: I give my lashes a curl with it, apply mascara and I'm ready. That's enough to define my eyes lately.
Questa ondata di caldo mi risucchia le energie e la cosa che più mi andrebbe di fare è starmene spiaggiata sul letto col ventilatore puntato. Di conseguenza non ho neppure molta voglia di realizzare un trucco completo e sto quindi saltando interamente lo step degli occhi, fatta eccezione per questo piccolo amico qui: con lui dono un po' di curvatura alle ciglia, applico il mascara e sono pronta. Ciò ultimamente è abbastanza per definire gli occhi.
REN Grapefruit & Neroli shower gel and body cream
It happened on the first day of sales on SpaceNK.com. I saw a little REN gift set which, for just 7£, included two body creams (Rose, Grapefruit&Neroli) and two shower gels with the same scents and I added it to my cart right away.
In all honesty I didn't expect to like this fragrance this much since I've never been a big lover of zesty and citrussy scents, but it turned out to be the one I've been reaching the most in hot days: it's refreshing, reinvigorating in a sense and zesty to the right point thanks to the sweetness of neroli that balances the scent out.
The smell of the shower gel lingers on the skin for a while and the body cream is pretty moisturizing but at the same time it doesn't feel heavy or greasy.
Kudos for REN that's made other hits!
È successo il primo giorno di saldi su SpaceNK.com. Ho visto questa piccola confezione regalo REN che, per sole 7£, includeva due creme corpo (Rosa, Pompelmo & Neroli) e due bagni doccia dalle stesse fragranze abbinate e l'ho quindi aggiunto subito al carrello.
In tutta onestà non mi aspettavo che una questa profumazione mi piacesse così tanto dal momento che non sono mai stata una gran amante degli odori agrumati e un po' frizzanti, ma alla fine si è rivelata essere quella che vado a ricercare maggiormente nelle giornate di caldo: è rinfrescante, in un certo senso rinvigorente ed è agrumata al punto giusto grazie alle note dolci del neroli che controbilanciano bene la profumazione.
L'odore del gel doccia permane sulla pelle per un po' e la crema corpo risulta ben idratante pur non essendo pesante o untuosa.
Applausi per REN che ha creato altri prodotti meritevoli.
MAC So Chaud lipstick
An orangy red was da way for me in July. I bought this lipstick a couple of years ago for my mum but she didn't enjoy it too much because she finds it too bold and too orange for her standard (even more so now that she has changed her hair color).
So after snooping around her makeup bag, I dug up this beauty that loudly screams "summer" and I took possession of it.
In luglio il rosso aranciato è stato per me il colore del rossetto. Questo qui in particolare l'avevo acquistato un paio di anni fa per la mia mamma che però non l'ha apprezzato moltissimo perché lo trova troppo intenso e aranciato per i suoi standard (soprattutto ora che ha cambiato look e colore di capelli, se lo vede ancora meno). E così dopo aver curiosato un po' nel suo beauty ho ritrovato cotanta beltade che urla 'estate' a gran voce e me ne sono impossessata.

Laura Mercier fresh fig body scrub
The online SpaceNK sale is where I did some damage. I didn't mean to do so, really, but the offers were just too tempting and I ended up buying two Laura Mercier body sets too.
The body scrub is the item I didn't put expectations on but it turned out to be really worthy: not only has a delicious scent, but it's also effective without being too harsh. It's like a real treat.
When you worry that a product finishes too soon, you know you're liking it a lot, and that's the case indeed.
I saldi online di SpaceNK sono il luogo dove ho fatto qualche danno. Non volevo eh, davvero, ma le offerte erano troppo convenienti e sono finita con l'acquistare anche due set corpo di Laura Mercier.
Lo scrub è il prodotto su cui non ripotevo grandi aspettative ma si è rivelato essere parecchio meritevole: non solo ha una fragranza piacevole ma è anche efficace senza essere al contempo troppo ruvido. È davvero come un trattamente per se stessi (la parola giusta forse sarebbe 'coccola' ma mi sembrava di farvi aumentare troppo glicemia, sicché...).
Quando ad ogni utilizzo ti preoccupi che un prodotto finisca troppo presto, sai per certo che ti sta piacendo parecchio ed è proprio questo il caso.
It's not that I'm the best expert in fake tan, on the contrary I took the fake tanning plunge only a year ago and I don't even use tanning lotions all year round. So if you've achieved the PRO status I'm afraid you won't find this post particularly illuminanting. On the other hand, I know there are many ladies out there who haven't ventured in this land yet because are afraid to wake up the morning after looking like a taller version of an oompa-loompa or like Snooki in one of her worst days.
I used to think the same before entering in the 'tan section' of beauty shops a year ago and I too pictured in my mind all those terrible orange faces and streaked legs from the 90s. But let me tell you that the beauty industry has improved and perfected tanning products and that with the right steps now you can easily achieve an even and natural looking (fake) tan.
From a semi beginner to other beginners: these are the tricks I've learned so far.
Non è che io sia la più grande esperta di autoabbronzanti, anzi mi sono buttata in questa faccenda un anno fa e non uso neppure i prodotti abbronzanti durante tutto l'anno. Quindi se voi avete già raggiunto lo stato di PRO, temo che questo post non vi risulterà particolarmente illuminante. Ma dall'altro lato so che ci sono un sacco di persone che non si sono ancora avventurate per questa strada perché temono di svegliarsi il giorno dopo assomigliando ad una versione più alta di un oompa-loompa o a Snooki in uno dei suoi giorni peggiori. Anch'io la pensavo allo stesso modo, prima di addentrarmi nella 'sezione abbronzatura' dei negozi un anno fa ed anch'io già mi raffiguravo mentalmente tutti quei temibili visi color carota e gambe a macchie degli anni 90. Ma fatemi dire che l'industria cosmetica ha fatto passi da gigante ed ha migliorato moltissimo i prodotti autoabbronzanti ed ora con i giusti passaggi si riesce ad ottenere facilmente un'abbronzatura (finta) omogenea e dall'aspetto naturale. Da una semi-principiante ad altre principianti: questi sono i passaggi ed i trucchi che ho imparato finora.
Prep the skin
My first experience with a daily tanning lotion wasn't idyllic. It happened 5-6 years ago and I found myself with streaked legs in less than a week: the tanned skin layer was on the yellow-ish side and, what's even worse, was so thin that went away just by gently scratching it. No bueno.
In hindsight, the product I used wasn't good quality, but part of the fault was even mine.
Now I learned that prepping is key for an optimal result.
I scrub my whole body for 2 days in a row before applying any tanning product. Also, I keep my skin well hydrated using a moisturizer religiously every day.
However, I do not scrub nor do I apply a body cream right before fake tan application because both products might have oils that could create a sort of film, which might act as barrier preventing your fake tan from properly adhering to the skin (therefore the chance to develop uneven color increases).
Not every moisturizer and scrub does so but I prefer playing safe and doing all these steps a day or (many) hours before the actual tanning phase.
Tip: wax or shave after scrubbing but at least a day before fake tan - especially if waxing is your method of choice, give the pores the time to shrink so the tan won't emphasize them settling into them.
La mia prima esperienza con una di quelle lozioni che abbronzano gradualmente non è stata esattamente idilliaca. È accaduto 5-6 anni fa e mi ero ritrovata con le gambe a chiazze in meno di una settimana: lo strato di pelle abbronzata virava al giallo ma, che forse era addirittura peggio, era talmente sottile che se ne andava via grattando leggermente la pelle. No bueno. Col senno di poi il prodotto usato non era di qualità, ma parte della colpa è stata anche mia. Ora ho imparato che preparare la pelleè parte della chiave d'accesso ad un risultato ottimale. Faccio uno scrub su tutto il corpo possibilmente per 2 giorni di fila prima di applicare qualunque prodotto abbronzante e cerco di mantenere la pelle ben idratata utilizzando religiosamente una crema ogni giorno. Però non uso né scrub né creme subito prima di applicare l'autoabbronzante perché entrambi i prodotti potrebbero contenere oli che possono creare una sorta di film che rischia di agire come una barriera, impedento all'autoabbronzante di aderire perfettamente alla pelle (quindi la possibilità che si sviluppi un colore non uniforme aumenta).
Non tutte le creme e gli scrub si comportano così ma preferisco andare sul sicuro e fare tutti questi passaggi un giorno o (molte) ore prima della vera e propria fase abbronzante. Tip: argomento scabroso, depilazione. Fatelo dopo lo scrub ma almeno un giorno prima dell'autoabbronzante, soprattutto se il metodo che utilizzate è quello della ceretta - date ai pori e al follicolo tutto il tempo di riprendersi ed anche restringersi, così l'abbronzatura non li enfatizzerà inviladovisi.
Mousse, lotion, gradual tanning, too much stuff to choose from?
There are many types of fake tanning products and it's just a matter of personal taste really.
As for me, I prefer the mousse ones with color guide and they are indeed the ones I suggest you to begin with if you're new to the all thing since they're really newbie-proof (if I managed to achieve a great tan more than ones with them, then everyone can do it).
I like them best because of the lightweight texture and the extremely useful color guide: in other words, you easily see where you're applying the mousse, in order to drastically increase the chance to develop a streak free tan.
(don't get me started with all the areas I missed when I used products with no color guide, aehm...)
Lotions, on the other hand, are usually more moisturizing than a mousse, while as for sprays I've been told they are usually the ones delivering the most intense color but I've never tried any.
As for gradual or daily fake tanners, I do like them and I find them useful to mantain your tan or for those weeks you just look for a sun kissed skin. Their main drawnback to me is that for the most part they go on clear on the skin, which makes them a bit tricky to apply evenly but it's nothing you can't cope with.
If you have no clue on which brand to start from, I suggest to choose from St.Tropez, Xen-Tan, Fake-Bake and the other well-known brands specialized in tanning. I know they're not cheap but I do think that when it comes to this side of the beauty world you get what you pay for more often than not.
Ci sono molte tipologie di prodotti autoabbronzanti ed è davvero solo una questione di preferenza personale. Per quel che mi riguarda, io preferisco quelli in mousse con un colore guida e sono proprio quelli con cui vi suggerirei di iniziare se siete nuove a tutta questa faccenda, dal momento che sono semplici da applicare (se sono riuscita io ad ottenere un buon risultato più di una volta, praticamente chiunque può farlo). Li preferisco per la loro texture leggera ed il fatto che siano colorati, il che è estremamente utile: in altre parole, ciò vi permette di vedere dove state applicando la mousse, in modo da aumentare drasticamente la possibilità di sviluppare un'abbronzatura priva di chiazze e strisce. (non parliamo di quante zone mi lasciavo indietro quando utilizzavo prodotti incolore, aehm...) Le lozioni cremose, d'altro canto, sono di norma più idratanti di una mousse, mentre per quanto riguarda gli spray mi è stato detto che solitamente sono quelli che creano il colore più intenso ma non ne ho mai provati. Parlando invece di autoabbronzanti graduali, a me personalmente piacciono molto e li trovo utili per mantenere l'abbronzatura o per quelle settimane in cui si ricerca solo un effetto 'pelle baciata dal sole'. Il loro principale difetto secondo me è che per la maggior parte sono incolore, il che li rende un
po' delicati da applicare uniformemente, ma non è nulla di insuperabile.
Se non avete la benché minima idea del marchio da cui iniziare, vi suggerirei di scegliere tra St.Tropez, Xen-Tan, Fake-Bake e
altri marchi conosciuti specializzati in quest'ambito. So che purtroppo
non sono economici, ma credo davvero che quando si tratta di
abbronzatura fai-da-te il più delle volte si ha ciò per cui si paga.
Application
Unless I use a creamy lotion, applying tanning products with bare hands is a big, ginormous 'no' to me.
Mainly for two reasons: it's hard to get an even result without a proper mitt and secondly because I don't know about you but I can't stand those telltale stained palms and wrists. Even if the rest of the body is even and perfectly tanned, they ruin every effort to make the overall result looking natural. So purchasing a tanning mitt has changed my (fake tanning) life. If you're a beginner, do invest a few bucks in one of those mitts, it will worth it.
Now, supposing we have a mousse in a hand and the mitt on the other one, here it comes the actual application.
I find the easiest way for me is applying in front of a mirror as it allows me to clearly see every missed spot - of course presuming we're talking about a product with color guide.
I truly recommend not to insist too much on your knees and elbows since those are areas where fake tan builds up more than anywhere else.
The most tricky parts however are feet and hands: I hardly never achieve a perfect result and the streaks are always around the corner, so I prefer applying a gradual fake tanner on those parts.
I meticulously blend the mousse at the ankles and wrists and then apply a daily tanning product on my feet and hands because that (usually) develops into a lighter color and I prefer to go around with slightly colored hands and feet rather than they get stained and unnatural looking. Sometimes I also apply such lotions with a face brush - the cheapest and least loved one though - in order to blend them effectively.
If you want to use a lotion all over your body instead, I'd
suggest to wear latex gloves to protect your hands and to really work the
product into the skin since it usually requires more time than
a mousse.
Tip:
remember to wash your hands thoroughly as soon as possible. Not
forget your wrists as well where the tan tends to collect and develop into
unpleasant looking streaks.
Tip: generally, the greener the undertone of a colored mousse or lotion is, the more golden (and less orange) the color will be.
A meno che io non utilizzi una lozione in crema, applicare gli autoabbronzanti a mani nude è secondo me un grande, gigantesco 'no'. Principalmente
per due ragioni: è difficile ottenere un risultato omogeneo senza un
guanto apposito e secondariamente perché, non so voi, ma io non riesco a
tollerare quei tipici palmi e polsi macchiati. Anche se il resto del
corpo è uniforme e perfettamente abbronzato, loro stanno lì in vista rovinando ogni tentativo di
rendere naturale l'intero risultato. E infatti l'acquisto di un guanto apposito da autoabbronzante mi ha semplificato le cose. Se siete anche voi agli inizi, investite qualche euro in uno di questi guanti, ne varrà la pena. Ora, immaginando di avere una mousse in una mano e il guanto nell'altra, arriva il momento dell'applicazione vera e propria. Trovo
che il modo più semplice, almeno per me, sia la stesura di fronte allo
specchio perché mi permette di vedere chiaramente ogni spazio che
dimentico - certo, supponendo di utilizzare un prodotto col famoso colore guida. Consiglio poi caldamente di non insistere troppo
sulle ginocchia e sui gomiti, dal momento che sono aree dove
l'autoabbronzante si stratifica più facilmente di qualunque altra zona. Quelle più complicate e
delicate sono però ipiedi e le mani: io non riesco praticamente mai ad
ottenere un risultato perfetto e le macchie sono sempre dietro l'angolo;
per questo preferisco applicare su queste zone uno di quei prodotti che
colora gradualmente. Sfumo molto la mousse a livello delle caviglie e
dei polsi e successivamente vado a spargere la lozione graduale su mani e
piedi perché (di norma) questa tipologia sviluppa un colore più chiaro e
preferisco girare con delle mani e dei piedi solo leggermente colorati,
piuttosto che renderli innaturali o a macchie. Qualche volta uso queste
creme dal colore graduale con un pennello da viso - il più economico e
il meno amato però - al fine di sfumarle in modo efficace. Se invece
volete usare una lozione cremosa su tutto il corpo vi suggerisco di
indossare dei guanti in lattice per proteggere le mani e di lavorare per
bene il prodotto, visto che di norma questo genere richiede un po' più
di tempo e di massaggio rispetto ad una mousse. Tip:
ricordatevi di lavare le mani per bene il prima possibile senza
dimenticare i polsi, dove il colore tende a raccogliersi e a dar vita a
delle strisciate poco piacevoli da vedere (io insisto molto sui polsi
con acqua e sapone perché le macchie a quel livello le trovo davvero
tremende, eww, ma questa è una mia fissazione). Tip: generalmente, più una mousse o una lozione colorata ha un sottotono verde, più il colore sarà dorato (e quindi meno sarà arancione).
What about the face?
I recommend you to buy a face specific tanning lotion: I tried to use the ones for the body for this purpose and although the final color was always even and intense to the right point, they feel too heavy on the face, often break me out and settle into pores as well.
The specific products feel instead quite light, aren't comedogenic and usually develop into a lighter tone than ones for the body, which makes them pretty safe to use even if you're afraid to wake up and look orange - for my experience it won't happened unless you apply them again and again for many days in a raw. Tip: If you have light or bleached hair, be assured to protect and avoid your eyebrows and hair line.
Vi consiglio a tal proposito di acquistare un prodotto specifico per il viso: ho provato ad usare quelli per il corpo per questo scopo e, sebbene il colore finale fosse sempre omogeneo ed intenso al punto giusto, risultano troppo pesanti per il viso, spesso mi hanno fatto fiorire qualche brufolo e si infilano spesso anche nei pori. I prodotti specifici invece sono abbastanza leggeri, non comedogeni e di norma danno origine ad un tono più chiaro di quelli per il resto del corpo, cosa che li rende sicuri da utilizzare anche se si ha timore di svegliarsi arancioni il mattino seguente - per mia esperienza ciò non accadrà, a meno che non li applichiate ancora e ancora per molti giorni di fila. (insomma dai, per me Snooki se la cercava...) Tip: Se i vostri capelli sono chiari o decolorati, assicuratevi di proteggere ed evitare sia l'attaccatura dei capelli che le sopracciglia.
If you're pretty fair...
It doesn't matter whether you're complexion is fair or medium toned because with the right products you won't look orange or too tanned. Said by a fair skinned girl.
If you don't want to excessively alter your skin tone just make friends with light or gradual tanning products and give your back to the dark and intense versions. Nowadays even the latter are safe enough to go from fair to tanned, but choose a gradual tanner is maybe a better option to dip your toes in the water.
As for face lotions, like said some lines before, they usually feel more of products that color gradually and more than one application is often needed so they shouldn't sound scary.
However, although I haven't tried it myself, I know that also many uber fair girls raved about Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning for face so if you're in a dilemma you might give that one a try.
Se siete particolarmente chiare... Non importa, non importa se la vostra carnagione è diafana o media perché coi prodotti giusti non sembrerete comunque arancioni né troppo abbronzante. Detto da una che è a sua volta molto chiara. Se non volete alterare eccessivamente il vostro tono di pelle, fate amicizia con gli autoabbronzanti graduali o quelli dal colore "light" e date invece le spalle alle versioni scure e più intense. Al giorno d'oggi anche quest'ultime sono adatte per passare da molto-chiara a discretamente-abbronzata, ma scegliere un qualcosa che doni colore in più riprese è forse un'opzione migliore per iniziare ad esplorare questo territorio. Parlando di prodotti viso, come detto qualche riga fa, di solito sembrano più degli autoabbronzanti graduali e necessitano di più applicazioni di fila, quindi non dovrebbero spaventare. Comunque, sebbene non io non l'abbia mai provato, so che moltissime ragazze - anche le più chiare - parlano bene del Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning for face. In caso vogliate dare un leggero colorito in più al viso e non sapeste verso cosa orientarvi, date un'occhiata a questo.
Maintenance
This is the reason why I don't fake tan very often: a good looking fake tan is highly maintenance and I'm pretty lazy.
For my experience, if you want your tan lasting longer, looking even and natural and fading as much evenly rather than patchy, then you have to give it some attention: that is keeping your skin well hydrated (as known as: apply a moisturizer everyday) and use a gentle scrub about twice a week.
By the way, here the said "gradual tanning lotions" come into play as can help to mantain your tan longer.
(On me it usually looks intense for 3-4 days, then starts to gradually fade until 10 days or so)
Questo è il motivo per cui non uso l'autoabbronzante troppo spesso: un'abbronzatura (farlocca) che appaia naturale e piacevole da vedere richiede molta manutenzione, chiamiamola così, ed io sono parecchio pigra. Per la mia esperienza, se volete che il colore duri a lungo, appaia uniforme, naturale e che svanisca altrettanto uniformemente piuttosto che a chiazze, è necessario dargli delle attenzioni: ovvero, mantenere la pelle ben idratata (aka: applicare una crema ogni santo giorno) ed usare uno scrub leggero circa due volte a settimana. Tra l'altro, qui le suddette "lozioni ad effetto graduale" entrano in gioco e aiutano a mantenere l'abbronzatura più a lungo. (su di me resta intensa per 3-4 giorni, dopodiché inizia a svanire gradualmente fino a 10 giorni o giù di lì)
Makeup and foundation
Supposing now you are perfectly tanned and look like just came back from a vacation, there's a detail you may notice: none of your foundations matches your skintone anymore.
Obviously going to shop a new updated shade is the best option but is also the most expensive, especially if you're into high-end makeup and are aware you won't fake tan for more than a few weeks in a year.
This is my budget-friendly method: if I got a relatively light, golden tan, I dive in my makeup stash to find a bronzer or, even better, a tinted face powder that's darker than my natural skintone, so I can use it on top of my regular foundation to adjust the color.
Unfortunately this method doesn't work if you go for an intense and dark tan and the best solution in this case is purchasing a new foundation in a darker shade to mix with your regular one. If you are well aware that your fake tan will fade in a couple of weeks and you won't repeat all the process, then Sephora or other beauty counters may come in help: you could ask for a sample jar of your favorite foundation in a dark shade instead of shelling out money for something you won't use that often.
(I like to call it "the broke girl method", which I'm a fan of by the way).
Immaginando che ora si sia perfettamente abbronzate e come appena tornate da una vacanza, c'è un dettaglio che balza all'occhio: nessun fondotinta si abbina più al colorito attuale. Ovviamente andare a comprare una nuova tonalità aggiornata è l'opzione migliore ma anche la più costosa, soprattutto se la vostra base appartiene alla schiera dei prodotti "high-end" e siete consapevoli che non andrete di autoabbronzante per più di un paio settimane all'anno. Questo è il mio metodo amico del portafoglio: se ho un'abbronzatura dorata, relativamente chiara, mi immergo nel cassetto e ne tiro fuori un bronzer o, meglio ancora, una cipria colorata più scura del mio tono naturale così da poterla sfumare sopra il fondotinta di sempre per aggiustarne il colore. Purtroppo questo metodo non funziona se decidete di andare per un'abbronzatura scura ed intensa e la miglior soluzione in questo caso è acquistare un nuovo fondotinta, scuro, da mescolare con quello del vostro colore che già possedete. Se già sapete che la vostra abbronzatura sbiadirà in un paio di settimane e non ripeterete poi tutto il procedimento, in quel caso Sephora viene in aiuto: del resto potete sempre richiedere un sample del vostro fondotinta preferito in una tonalità medio-scura invece di sborsare soldi per qualcosa che non userete così spesso. ;) (questo lo chiamo "il metodo della ragazza squattrinata", del quale sono una fan tra l'altro).
As the years passed by I started to really appreciate my fair complexion and I still appreciate it, but I also like a bit of color during summer that makes me look alive.
Fake tan in winter? Too much hassle for me and my lazy behind, but it's a matter of personal choice.
So this is pretty much everything I learned from tries and mistakes of fake tanning. Maybe it's not the best method ever, but if it works for me then I believe it could also work for many people who aren't familiar with this side of the beauty world.
Col passare degli anni ho iniziato ad apprezzare davvero la mia carnagione chiara e l'apprezzo tuttora, ma nel periodo estivo mi piace anche avere un po' di colorito, giusto per sembrare un po' più viva. Autoabbronzante in inverno? "Troppo sbatti"(cit.) per me ed il mio pigro posteriore, ma è una questione di scelta personale.
Ed ecco qui, questo è praticamente tutto - credo - ciò che ho imparato sull'abbronzatura farlocca dopo tentativi ed errori. Forse non sarà il metodo migliore del globo, ma se funziona per me credo possa funzionare anche per molte persone che non hanno dimestichezza con questo lato del mondo cosmetico.

I'm an avid reader of beauty blogs, quite obviously, and among my favorite posts there are the comparative ones. Whether it's a foundation compared to another or a color swatched against a similar one, those posts always give me a better idea on specific products or shades, if it's worth to buy that new lipstick or if it's better to save some money because I already own something too similar. Since I have to buy online and sight unseen most of my makeup, such posts are really money savers for me.
That being said, I also like browsing counters at Sephora, Kiko, Douglas, *insert random beauty shops here* and swatch tons of products to find out possible dupes in my arsenal - when your stash grows every year more, not to buy similar products isn't always easy.
So yesterday during a window shopping (and swatching) session I told myself: I have the swatches, I have the photos, I have the product names, why not to begin a swatches on the go blog post serie?
The pictures in these posts won't be high quality as I'll take them with iPhone and not with my Canon, but the white balance is quite good anyway (good job lil' iPhone, good job).
Sono un'accanita lettrice di beauty blog, cosa abbastanza scontata, e tra i miei post preferiti ci sono sicuramente quelli comparativi. Che si tratti un fondotinta confrontato con un altro o di un colore swatchato accanto ad uno similare, quei post mi permettono sempre di farmi un'idea abbastanza precisa su dei colori (o prodotti) in particolare, se vale la pena acquistare quel nuovo rossetto o se è meglio risparmiare un po' di pecunia dal momento che possiedo già qualcosa di troppo simile. Dal momento che devo acquistare online la maggior parte del makeup - vuoi per l'assenza dei marchi, vuoi per le offerte che si trovano - post simili mi fanno risparmiare spesso soldi e fregature. Ovviamente mi piace anche girare tra gli stand di Sephora, Kiko, Douglas *inserire un qualunque negozio di cosmetici a caso* e swatchare tonnellate di roba per trovare eventuali doppioni in mio possesso - quando il tuo arsenale cosmetico cresce ogni anno di più, non acquistare prodotti troppo simili tra loro non è sempre scontato. E quindi ieri dopo una sessione di swatch selvaggio, come già anticipato su Facebook, mi sono detta: ho gli swatch, ho le foto, ho i nomi dei prodotti, perché non inizio una serie di post sul blog tipo swatches on the go? Le immagini di questi post non avranno un'altissima qualità perché saranno fatte tutte con l'iPhone anziché con la solita fidata Canon, ma il bilanciamento del bianco devo dire che non è comunque male (bravo piccolo amico tecnologico, ottimo lavoro!).
I know it sounds very odd, but more often than not beauty blogs and online swatches give me a better idea of a shade than seeing it in person under the (terrible) artificial lighting of many shops. And Sephora is no exception.
NARS landed in Italy only a couple of months ago, so I was kind of excited to see in person all of those NARS products I've never dared to buy online - yet.
I went there with a handful of names on my wishlist but...it was a kind of disappointment. The arrangement and the lighting didn't the colors justice and pretty much nothing appealed to me - were it for Sephora, I'd probably not be the big fan of Nars I actually am.
Not to mention shimmer blushes and eyeshadows looked like discoballs in powder form - even if I own some and I know they're simply beautiful and wearable instead. Sigh.
So once I swatched the products I had on my list, I stepped outside in natural sunlight to see the actual colors.
So che suona davvero strano, ma il più delle volte i blog e gli swatch sul web riescono a fornirmi un'idea precisa su un determinato colore, persino migliore rispetto al vederlo di persona, sotto le luci (tremende) artificiali di molti negozi. E Sephora non fa eccezione. Dopo l'arrivo di NARS in Italia, sono riuscita solo ieri per la prima volta ad andare a toccare con mano ed è inutile dire che ero curiosissima di vedere dal vivo tutti quei prodotti Nars che non mi ero azzardata ad ordinare online. Sono entrata con una manciata di nomi sulla mia wishlist mentale...ma è stata una mezza delusione. Lo stand e le luci non rendevano davvero giustizia ai colori e non c'era nulla che mi attraesse più di tanto, quasi si confondessero tra loro - fosse stato per Sephora insomma non sarei la fan di Nars che sono ora, diciamolo. Senza contare che i prodotti shimmer sembravano delle palle da discoteca sottoforma di polvere - anche se ho alcuni di quei prodotti e so che in realtà risultano semplicemente stupendi e portabili. Sigh. Quindi una volta swatchati i prodotti che mi interessavano da tempo, sono uscita fuori alla luce naturale per vedere i colori reali.

I was curious to see La Paz as it looked terrible in some swatches, beautiful and interesting in others. Unfortunately in person it looked just...awful, I'd dare say. The base is an interesting violet hue but the glitter, oh boy, definitely way too much for me. It's basically a matte violet packed with silver, chunky glitter. Not my type. The texture didn't feel as smooth as other Pure Matte's either. Mysterious Red was instead as beautiful as I expected it to be: a matte, rich, true red. Bright but not neon and with slight cool undertones. NARS Velvet Matte pencils aren't my favorite products, but this one felt smooth, creamy and above all very pigmented. Unfortunately it is limited edition.
Dalla collezione autunnale: Ero molto curiosa di vedere La Paz dal momento che sembrava atroce in alcuni swatches ma bello e interessante in altri. Purtroppo di persona era...orribile, oserei dire. La base è una tonalità di viola interessante ma i glitter, oddio, sono decisamente troppi per me. Praticamente si tratta di un viola matte pieno zeppo di glitterazzi argentati. Decisamente non il mio genere. La texture inoltre non sembrava neppure scorrevole e omogenea come quella degli altri Pure Matte. Mysterious Red era invece stupendo quanto mi aspettavo fosse: un rosso puro, vibrante e matte. Acceso ma non neon e con un sottotono un po' freddo. Le matite Velvet Matte di NARS non sono i miei prodotti preferiti, ma questo risultava omogeneo, cremoso al punto giusto e soprattutto molto pigmentato. Purtroppo è un'edizione limitata.

Luster is definitely among the blushes I've been using the most and I was curious to see how it compared with Madly. Well, I'm happy to say that I like Luster better. It leans more on the peachy side than Madly, which is a bit more brown. The finish is the same (shimmer). I wouldn't say it's worth to have them both.
Lusterè senza dubbio uno dei blush che sto usando di più ultimamente ed ero curiosa di vedere com'era rispetto a Madly. Ecco, sono lieta di annunciare che preferisco Luster. Ha una sfumatura pesca più marcata rispetto a Madly, che è un po' più marrone. Il finish è lo stesso (shimmer). Non direi che vale la pena averli entrambi.

Ruby Woo is similar to Mysterious Red. Perhaps too similar. It's a tiny bit brighter and bluer maybe and of course more matte (but does something more matte than Ruby Woo exist?) but I'm not sure it's worth buying MR when you already own MAC Ruby Woo. Which is also a blood relative of Vesuvio. However, the latter is not as bright and maybe it leans more on the cherry-red side. I should compare it with MAC Red too the next time.
Ruby Wooè simile a Mysterious Red. Forse anche troppo simile. È un pelo più brillante e un po' più freddo forse e ovviamente più matte (del resto esiste qualcosa che sia più matte di Ruby Woo?) ma non sono sicura che valga la pena acquistare MR se si possiede già Ruby Woo di MAC. Che è anche un parente di Vesuvio. Quest'ultimo però non è altrettanto acceso e mi sembra che viri un po' di più al color rosso ciliegia. La prossima volta dovrei confrontarlo anche con MAC Red.
Terre de Feu seems to me like a berry and a bit deeper version of Mascate. Mascate is a true, medium red, whereas Terre de feu has a different undertone, similar to MAC Diva - which in turn is a little darker though.
Speaking of berries, Valparaiso is a true berry color. It's been on my list for ages but I haven't dared to buy it sight unseen because of its peculiar hue. It's a cousin of MAC Rebel but not a dupe. Rebel, apart from a different finish, is not as deep and has a fuchsia component which Valparaiso lacks of. Palais Royal is somewhat similar to Valparaiso but I see it deeper and more red perhaps.
Terre de Feu mi sembra una versione berry e un po' più cupa di Mascate. Mascate è un rosso medio, pieno, mentre Terre de feu possiede un sottotono differente, simile a Diva di MAC - che però è a sua volta leggermente più scuro. Parlando di toni simil bacca, Valparaisoè proprio un color berry. È sulla mia lista mentale da un sacco di tempo ormai ma non mi ero mai azzardata ad acquistarlo a scatola chiusa a causa del suo tono particolare. È un cugino di Rebel di MAC ma non un dupe. Rebel, oltre ad un finish differente, essendo un Satin, è un po' meno cupo e possiede quella componente fucsia di cui è sprovvisto Valparaiso. Palais Royalè in un certo senso simile a Valparaiso ma lo vedo più scuro, intenso e con una base più rossa forse.
So after this swatching session I took off from my wishlist Terre De Feu since it's too similar to Diva for my standard (after all I don't wear dark lipsticks that often to justify to own them both) and Mysterious Red. I love it and I think it's an outstanding shade but my conscience keeps telling me not to splash out money as I already have Ruby Woo. What is still on my wish-I-could-buy-them-all list are Mascate, Majella and Hyde Park. As for Valparaiso, I will probably ask the sale assistant to try it on the next time I stop by Sephora and see if it works on my complexion.

It all happened in a muggy summer afternoon when a voice in my head told me: "with all these tags going on in the beauty blogging world, why don't you do one yourself regarding your top 10 summer products?". Well, maybe the situation went a little out of hand since at first I didn't even notice I chose 11 items instead of 10. But still...let's pretend they were intentionally 10+1.
I picked 5(+1) makeup related items and 5 skincare, haircare, random products. These are 'the chosen ones': Tutto è successo in un afoso pomeriggio estivo, quando una voce nella mia testa mi ha detto: "con tutti questi tag che imperversano nel mondo dei beauty blog, perché non ne fai uno anche tu riguardante i tuoi 10 prodotti top per l'estate?". Ecco, forse la situazione mi è pure sfuggita un po' di mano visto che all'inizio non avevo neppure notato di aver scelto 11 prodotti anziché 10. Ma comunque...facciamo finta che fossero intenzionalmente 10+1 sin dall'inizio. Ho selezionato 5(+1) cose inerenti al makeup e 5 riguardanti l'area capelli, pelle, random. E questi sono i prescelti:
Lightweight base with SPF Guerlain BB Beauty Booster with SPF 30
I'm a sucker for liquid base since my dry skin doesn't love mineral foundations too much and a lightweight one with high SPF is a must for me in summertime. I discovered this Guerlain Beauty Booster (I briefly talked about it here) a couple of months ago and I've been liking it a lot, I mean a lot. I like my summer base to be also fuss-free as with all this heat my laziness gets worse and I rarely feel like spending much time and efforts applying a foundation. And this one by Guerlain ticks this box too: I usually grab the Real Techniques Buffing brush or the Expert Face and quickly blend a pump of two of Beauty Booster.
I alternate this one with NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, which is another winning product.
Base leggera con SPF Guerlain BB Beauty Booster con SPF 30 Sono un'amante della base liquida, visto soprattutto che la mia pelle secca non ama particolarmente i fondotinta minerali, ed una che fornisca una sensazione di leggerezza e che contenga un fattore di protezione solare è sicuramente tra i miei prodotti-da-avere nel periodo estivo. Ho scoperto questa Beauty Booster di Guerlain (ne avevo parlato brevemente qui) un paio di mesi fa e mi sta piacendo molto, e intendo molto. Mi piace inoltre che la base estiva sia anche semplice da stendere, visto che con tutto questo caldo la mia pigrizia peggiora e raramente ho voglia di impiegare molto tempo nell'applicazione di un fondotinta. E questa di Guerlain rispetta pure tale criterio: di solito afferro il Buffing brush di Real Techniques o l'Expert Face e sfumo facilmente una o due dosi di Beauty Booster. A questa alterno il NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, che è un altro valido prodotto.
Orangy red lipstick MAC So Chaud
A red lipstick with such a warm base is a quite recent revelation in my (cosmetic) life. I didn't use to wear similar shades on the lips because I was sure they wouldn't suit me well. Oh well,I was wrong.
Actually it brightens up my face and it totally screams summer.
Rossetto rosso aranciato MAC So Chaud Un rossetto rosso con una base tanto calda è una rivelazione abbastanza recente nella mia vita (cosmetica). Non ero solita indossare toni simili sulle labbra perché ero sicura che mi sarebbero stati male. Vabbè, mi sa che avevo torto. In realtà mi illumina il viso ed urla anche 'estate' a gran voce.
Golden peachy blush NARS Luster
Oh, how I love this blush, especially in this time of the year...
I wouldn't recommend to buy it sight unseen for a cool skinned gal, but if your complexion is warm based and you don't mind your blush to have a sheen/shimmer, then I truly suggest to check it out. Luster is complex in its simplicity: it's of course a peachy tone but the golden sheen gives it a beautiful bronzed look that appears flattering on several warm skin tones, from the light to the medium ones. I absolutely love how it warms up my complexion mimicking that summer 'sun kissed' effect.
Blush pesca dorato NARS Luster Quanto mi piace questo blush, soprattutto in questo periodo dell'anno... Non consiglierei di acquistarlo a scatola chiusa per una ragazza dal sottotono freddo, ma se il vostro incarnato è a base calda e non vi dispiace che il vostro blush abbia una certa luminosità o degli shimmer (fini), vi suggerirei davvero di dargli un'occhiata. Luster è complesso nella sua semplicità: è sì un tono pesca ma i finissimi shimmer dorati che contiene gli danno un aspetto a metà tra un blush ed un bronzer, che può donare comunque a molte carnagioni calde, da chiare a medie. Apprezzo moltissimo come scalda l'incarnato, mimando l'effetto estivo di una pelle 'baciata dal sole'.
Tinted face powder MAC Careblend pressed powder Gold-Go-Lightly (LE)
I'm not a big bronzer user but I don't say no to a bit of colored powder. This is basically my go-to tinted powder (MAC Careblend) in a shade way deeper than my skin tone.
I like to apply it with an extremely light hand on those areas that are naturally hit by the sun, in order to warm up the face and give it a hint of color. However, its main purpose for me is to adjust the color of my regular foundation in those weeks I fake tan. A slight swipe all over the face with a big and fluffy brush, like the Real Techniques Multi Task, and I'm good to go, with face matching my body. Cipria colorata MAC Careblend pressed powder Gold-Go-Lightly (LE) Non sono una gran utilizzatrice di bronzer ma non dico di no ad un po' di cipria colorata. Questa in pratica è la mia cipria colorata di sempre (la MAC Careblend) ma in una tonalità molto più scura del mio incarnato. Mi piace applicarla con mano parecchio leggera - è una cipria, ma colora e si vede - su quelle aree che sono naturalmente colpite dal sole, in modo da riscaldare il viso ed avere un po' di colorito. Il suo scopo numero uno però è per me quello di aggiustare il tono del mio solito fondotinta in quelle settimane di utilizzo frequente di autoabbronzante. Una leggera passata su tutto il viso con un pennello un po' grande e morbido, come il Multi Task di Real Techniques, e sono pronta per andare, col viso uniformato al resto del corpo.
Shimmer blush and highlighter all in one MAC Stereo Rose MSF (LE)
With my skin being more normal than dry during summertime and also definitely brighter, I don't feel the need of a proper highlighter. I prefer instead applying those blushes with the finest shimmer or sheen that reflect light beautifully. Stereo Rose is possibly the best example in my stash.

Preferisco piuttosto applicare quei blush con degli shimmer finissimi e luminosi, che riflettono la luce in modo esteticamente piacevole. E Stereo Rose è forse l'esempio migliore presente nel mio cassetto. Avevo scritto qualcosa a riguardo qui.
Bonus MAC Fix+
It's only recently that I started to get this product. I have a feeling that it does make my makeup last longer even in the heat. I've been using it almost every day as final step of my makeup routine, especially if the outside hot temperature is awaiting me. Not to mention that is also refreshing if stored in the fridge.
Bonus MAC Fix+ Ho iniziato a comprendere questo prodotto solo di recente. Ho come l'impressione che faccia effettivamente durare il makeup più a lungo, persino col caldo afoso. Lightweight yet hydrating moisturizer Steamcream
I've lost count of how many times I've mentioned this cream here on the blog. I just love it, I can't help. Almost two years later now and it's still one of my favorite moisturizers ever. I don't know how it does, but works amazingly with my skin, it provides nourishment and hydration like a heavy body butter although it feels lightweight. My body skin is normal to dry and I like good and rich moisturizers, but when the summer heat gets unberable I rather applying something lightweight that doesn't make me sweat even more - here it comes Steamcream.
(by the way, can we talk about how pretty that London themed tin is?)

Dopo quasi due anni ormai, la ritengo ancora tra le mie creme preferite di sempre. Non so come faccia, ma agisce splendidamente con la mia pelle, nutrendola e idratandola come un burro corpo nonostante la sensazione sia molto più leggera. La pelle del mio corpo è normale-barra-secca e mi piace usare degli idratanti ricchi e corposi, ma quando il caldo estivo raggiunge punte insopportabili preferisco applicare qualcosa di più leggero, che non mi faccia sudare ancor di più - e qui arriva la Steamcream. (tra l'altro, parliamo di quanto sia bella la lattina a tema londinese?)

I'm naturally quite pale and I don't even mind that, but in the summer I prefer to have some color in order to make me look alive. Since I haven't gone to the beach in years and I'm not even fond of lying under the sun for hours, fake tanning is the answer for me.
You'll probably already know that, but I do like this one by St Tropez. It develops in a natural, golden color that's not too dark. However, I'm testing out the Dark version in these day and so far it seems just as good as the regular one.

In questi giorni sto comunque testando anche la versione Dark e finora devo dire che mi pare altrettanto valida.

Like they say: 'old but gold'. I started to wear this perfume back in the days when I was in high school and I repurchased the 50ml bottle twice. After some years of other fragrances I got back to one of my all time favorite sweet scents. It is sweet of course, but not sickly, it's sparkling and somewhat fruity.
Perfume Amor Amor by Cacharel Come dicono in inglese: 'old but gold'. Ho iniziato ad usare questo profumo quando andavo ancora al liceo ed ho ricomprato la boccetta da 50ml già due volte. Dopo anni di fragranze diverse sono tornata ad uno dei miei profumi dolci preferiti. È dolce, vero, ma non nauseante. Ha piuttosto una vena frizzante e in qualche modo fruttata.
Quick and easy hair styling product Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray
I always blow dry my hair with a diffuser in order to enhance waves and curls but not in the summer. When it's 40°C outside - like 10 days ago - I don't enjoy to have hot air blowing on me for half an hour, so I prefer to put on my hair a product that can be air dried. Even better if this product manages to give me wavy, volumized and texturized hair, like the Bumbe & Bumble Surf Spray.

Quando fuori ci sono 40°, come fino a 10 giorni fa, avere dell'aria bollente sparata addosso per mezz'ora non è il divertimento più esilarante. Da qui, la mia preferenza per quei prodotti per lo styling che rendono anche se asciugati all'aria. Ancor meglio poi se questi prodotti riescono a darmi dei capelli mossi, voluminosi e texturizzati (possibile neologismo!), come il Surf Spray di Bumble&Bumble.
Hydrating serum REN Omega 3 Night Repair serum
There was a time I used to think serums weren't an essential step for my skincare routine and despite having tried some samples and travel sizes I hadn't bought any, until this summer. Now I fully understand why many people love them and I've ended up using this one by REN on a daily basis.
This serum has been a godsend in those steamy hot days - and for my skin in general too. It manages to keep my skin perfectly hydrating without feeling heavy and because of that I've even put my moisturizer aside for the moment.

Questo siero è stato una manna per quei giorni di caldo incredibile - ed anche per la mia pelle in generale. Riesce a mantenerla perfettamente idratata senza essere pesante, tanto che per il momento ho messo da parte persino la crema.

In March I placed an order on Illamasqua website and it took quite a while for it to arrive.
However a week later I unexpectedly received a second black parcel. Sender? Illamasqua.
Long story short, they sent me the order twice by mistake. So I contacted the customer service asking what I should have done with it and they replied that I could keep the items for free, as a special thank for the honesty and as a sorry for the delayed order.
After thanking them a lot, the first thought crossing my mind was: "I'll be give them to my readers!"

As part of the Spring 2013 makeup collection, YSL released some nice products: an interesting dusty green nail polish (Imperial Jade), new shades of the famous cream blushes and two new (limited edition) versions of one of their bestselling products, Glossy Stains.
I'm definitely late on this bandwagon as this is my very first Glossy Stain, but considering how much use I get out of it, it's like I'm making up for lost time. It's also due to the color maybe, but seriously I've been using this peachy coral awesomeness a lot lately.
Per le collezione makeup primavera 2013, YSL ha lanciato alcuni prodotti degni di nota: uno smalto di un interessante verde spento (Imperial Jade), nuove tonalità dei famosi blush in crema e due nuove versioni (in edizione limitata) di uno dei loro prodotti di punta, i Glossy Stain.
Arrivo decisamente in ritardo dal momento che questo è il mio primissimo Glossy Stain, ma considerando quando lo sto usando è come se stessi recuperando il tempo perso. Sarà anche a causa del colore magari, ma seriamente sto sfruttando molto cotanta beltade in pesca-corallo.
At first I thought the packaging was odd and austere in a sense, but I get used to it and now I kinda like it and appreciate the transparent middle section of the tube as well as the flat and broad triangular shaped brush, which allows you to be precise.
As said before, this is my first YSL Glossy Stain so I don't know how it compares with other shades' formula. However the very first thing I noticed when applying, was the wet sensation, if it makes sense: it feels like something wet and very thin in consistency, but pigmented at the same time.
I know almost everyone already said the same thing about Glossy Stains, but I, too, never encountered a similar product before (except for L'Oreal Shine Caresses, but that's another recent story).
It doesn't feel like a gloss at first (thinner and more watery in a sense), neither like a liquid lipstick (way thinner, glossier, not as opaque). I wasn't sure whether to storage it in the 'lipgloss section' or in the 'lipstick drawer' of my stash. However, after using it for several weeks, I finally decided to put it together with other lipglosses because my personal conclusion is: Glossy Stains (or this particular shade, at least) are more of a very long-lasting glosses than liquid staining lipsticks.
If you hate lip glosses, you might don't love this product as well.
Subito pensavo che il packaging avesse un che di strano e austero, in un certo senso, ma me ne sono presto abituata ed ora non lo trovo neppure male e ne apprezzo la sezione trasparente ed anche l'applicatore ampio, piatto e a forma triangolare, che permette di essere precisi nell'applicazione.
Come dicevo, questo è il mio primo Glossy Stain di YSL e non saprei quindi fare un confronto con la formula di altre tonalità. Comunque sia, la primissima cosa che ho notato durante l'applicazione è stata la sensazione 'fresca' e umida, se rendo l'idea: a me sembra un qualcosa di bagnato e dalla consistenza sottile e leggera ma al contempo pigmentato. So che quasi tutte hanno già detto la stessa cosa sui Glossy Stain, ma pure io non avevo mai incontrato un prodotto simile (tranne gli Shine Caresse L'Oreal, ma quella è un'altra e recente storia). Non sembra un gloss all'inizio (è più leggero e acquoso, in un certo senso), ma neppure un rossetto liquido (è molto più leggero, più lucido e non così coprente). Non ero sicura se riporlo nella sezione gloss o nel cassetto dei rossetti ma, dopo settimane di utilizzo, alla fine ho deciso di metterlo assieme agli altri lipgloss e la mia conclusione personale è: i Glossy Stain (o questo colore in particolare, almeno) sono più dei gloss a lunga durata che dei rossetti liquidi che macchiano. Se odiate i gloss, potreste non amare altrettanto anche questo prodotto.
Color wise, I love it. And that would be pretty much all.
But I'm gonna try to be a good blogger and tell you something more useful.
As said before, just one or two regular shades of Glossy Stains actually appealed to me but the range lacked a color that told me "C'mon, buy me!", such as a peachy coral indeed.
So, when Peche Cerra-Colla was released, I took advantage of a coupon I had and ordered it.
It's indeed a warm and orangy peach that achieves a slight pinkish-coral hue when build up.
I like applying one layer for a work-safe kind of color (ah, love it! Did I already say that?), whereas I layer it up when fancy a more vibrant peachy coral lip.
Parlando del colore, lo amo. E con ciò sarebbe già tutto. Ma cercherò di fare la blogger semi-seria e di dire qualche altra cosa magari più utile. Dicevo più sopra che giusto una o due delle tonalità permanenti dei Glossy Stain mi attiravano ma il range, per quanto vasto eh, mancava di un colore che mi dicesse "comprami comprami comprami" a gran voce, come un pesca-corallo appunto. E quindi, quando Peche Cerra-Colla è stato lanciato, ho approfittato di un 20% di sconto da Douglas e l'ho ordinato. È davvero un pesca caldo e aranciato che quando costruito arriva ad una sfumatura corallo leggermente rosata. Mi piace stenderne uno strato per un colore adatto anche al lavoro o alle occasioni più formali (ah, il colore, quanto mi piace! L'ho già detto sì?), mentre lo stratifico quando ho voglia di uscire con labbra di un color corallo più vibrante.
Speaking of the formula... As you can see in the pic, it doesn't stain the lips that much (mine aren't even pigmented) but it is long-wearing. For me it's a fail-proof product for days when I'm out and about. I can apply just one coat, have a fast meal and come home many hours later with glossy lips (it managed to last up to 8 hours, which is an incredible time span for my standards).
And that's another thing that surprised me: the glossiness won't go away even if you eat or drink.
Moreover it stays put and doesn't smear, which is always a bonus for me. It's also comfortable to wear as it's not tacky but. There's a but. As there's a drawback too.
This Glossy Stain isn't sticky, of course, but becomes so after eating or especially drinking.
The gloss changes consistency and it's like an outer, thin, comfortable layer goes away, making the layer underneath tackier. Something I didn't expect really and that's my only complain. I know some people find Glossy Stains drying but, despite having dry lips, I don't belong to that group this time: it's not moisturizing for me but neither drying. After a whole day of wear, sometimes I feel the need of a lip balm but that happens to me with 90% of lip products actually.
Overall, it's a good product and I'd recommend it if you are a fan of lip gloss and look for a buidable and really long-wearing one.
Does it worth the hype to me? Yes and no. I wish it left behind a more vivid stain.
Does it worth buying it despite the price tag? If you love glossy lips and hate re-applying products, yes. But if you usually can't stand glosses, then no.
Parlando della formula... Come si nota dall'immagine, sì chiamerà pure "stain" ma non macchia un granché le labbra (e le mie non sono neppure pigmentate) ma è davvero a lunga durata. È diventato un prodotto anti-fallimento per i giorni in cui devo stare tutto il giorno via da casa. Posso applicarne una sola mano, fare un pasto e tornare a casa ore dopo con delle labbra ancora colorate e lucide (è riuscito a durare fino a 8 ore, che è un lasso di tempo incredibile per i miei standard). E questa è un'altra cosa che mi ha sorpresa: la lucidità non se ne va anche se mangiate o bevete. Aggiungiamoci che resta saldo e non sbava - che è sempre un immenso bonus a mio avviso - è confortevole e non è affatto appiccicoso ma. C'è un ma. E c'è pure un difetto. Questo Glossy Stain non sarà appiccicoso, ma purtroppo lo diventa dopo aver mangiato o soprattutto aver bevuto. Il gloss cambia momentaneamente consistenza ed è come se un sottile, piacevole strato esterno se ne andasse via rendendo appiccicoso quello sottostante. Un qualcosa che davvero non mi aspettavo ed è la mia unica lamentela sul prodotto (prezzo a parte, ma quello mi sa che era più ovvio). So che molte persone trovano che i Glossy Stain secchino le labbra ma, nonostante le mie siano a tendenza secca, questa volta non appartengo a quel gruppo: non è idratante, ma a me non secca neppure. Dopo averlo portato per una giornata intera a volte sento il bisogno di un burrocacao, ma a dir il vero mi accade con tipo il 90% dei prodotti labbra.
In generale lo trovo un buon prodotto e lo consiglierei a chi è fan dei gloss e ne cerca uno dal colore costruibile e a lunga durata. Vale la fama che ha? Sì e no. Mi piacerebbe si lasciasse dietro una macchia più intensa. Vale la pena acquistarlo nonostante il prezzo? Se amate i gloss e odiate ri-applicarli durante il giorno, sì. Ma se di norma i gloss non riuscite a sopportarli, allora anche no.

Are these all the products I used up in a month? Actually...well, no. I wish so but I'm not this good at finishing beauty products. I thought anyway to gather most products I've used up in the last few months and begin to write a sort of 'empties' post series on the blog. I'm pretty sure there won't be a post every month but we'll see, maybe writing about the matter will motivate me to finish up more products and more rapidly.
The problem is that I suffer from "feeling sorry to finish good stuff" disease. You know when there are just a few bits left in a bottle/vial/whatever and you're like "oh no, let's begin a new product. I'll finish this one up in the future"? That. So I often find myself surrounded by a lot of almost-empty stuff but I keep procrastinating the moment of their departure.
But let's move on to those products I actually managed to used up.
Questi sono tutti i prodotti che ho terminato in un mese? A dir il vero...ehm, no. Magari! Ma ahinoi non sono così brava nel finire i prodotti dell'area beauty&co. Ho comunque pensato di raccogliere la maggior parte di quelli terminati nell'ultima manciata di mesi e di iniziare a scrivere qui sul blog una serie di post sui "vuoti". Sono abbastanza sicura che non ci sarà un post al mese ma vedremo, forse il fatto di scriverne mi spronerà a terminare più prodotti e più velocemente. Il problema è che soffro della patologia "mi spiace finire la roba". Sapete quanto in una boccetta/vasetto/bottiglia/pincopallo sono rimaste poche gocce e vi dite "oh no che peccato, dai iniziamo un prodotto nuovo. Questo lo finirò più in là"? Ecco, quello. E quindi mi ritrovo spesso circondata da un tot di quasi-finiti ma continuo a rimandare la loro dipartita. Ma ora passiamo a quelli che partiti lo sono già.
I liked it. I liked the giant (indeed) brush and I liked the lenght and volume it created on my lashes - which are kinda sparse and short.
Will I repurchase it? Maybe.
I love always to try new products but I might buy it again if I'll bump into a Catrice corner while in the need of a mascara.

Mi piace lo scovolino (appunto) gigante e mi piacevano la lunghezza e la discreta dose che creava sulle mie ciglia - che come ormai forse sapranno pure su Giove, sono corte e un po' rade, insomma, un po' sfigate diciamolo. Lo ricomprerò? Forse. Mi piace provare sempre nuovi prodotti ma potrei ricomprarlo se mi ritrovassi davanti uno stand Catrice durante un impelle bisogno di mascara.

I'm torn about what to say on this one because, while it didn't volumize my lashes at all, the brush did wonders in separating and defining them.
Repurchase? No. I saved the brush but I won't repurchase the whole mascara.
Invece sono un po' indecisa su questo qui perché, mentre non volumizzava le ciglia per niente, lo scovolino faceva meraviglie nel separarle e definirle. Lo ricomprerò? No. Ho tenuto lo scovolino ma non riacquisterò l'intero mascara.

Liz Earle Superskin body cream
Another cream from Liz Earle's Superskin line and it's the one for the body, this time.
To be honest I really liked how hydrated my skin was afterwards and even the day after, but I didn't enjoy the scent as much.
Will I repurchase it? No. I'm not a fan of the scent and the full size is too expensive (30£ for 200ml).
Un'altra crema dritta dritta dalla linea Superskin di Liz Earle, che questa volta è in versione da corpo. Ad essere onesta mi è piaciuto davvero molto come riusciva ad idratare la pelle e a tenerla idratata pure fino al giorno seguente, ma ciò che non ho apprezzato altrettanto è stato l'odore. La ricomprerò? No. Non sono una fan della profumazione e in più la full size è un po' troppo costosa (36€ per 200ml).
It was a standard but nice body scrub, not too subtle and not too harsh. But the thing I loved the most about it was the heavenly scent. Oh Lush, you should definitely make other products with the same scent, I tell you.
Will I repurchase it? If it wasn't a Christmas limited edition, then yes.

Lush So white bath bomb
I expected more from this bomb as I heard great things about it: the scent should have been pleasant and apple-like and the water should have been turned pink.
Too bad the water actually turned into an extremely light pink, almost undetectable, and the scent was so subtle that I barely cought it. Not worth the money in my opinion.
Will I repurchase it? No.
Mi aspettavo di più da questa ballistica dopo averne sentito parlare tanto bene: la fragranza doveva essere molto piacevole e ricordare le mele, mentre l'acqua avrebbe dovuto diventare rosa. Peccato che l'acqua in realtà sia diventata di un rosa estremamente chiaro, quasi invisibile, e che il profumo fosse così leggero da non riuscire neppure a coglierlo. Non vale i soldi che costa, a mio modesto avviso. La ricomprerò? No.

W7 Salt n pepper nail polish (15ml for 1.95£ | 2.30€ | 3$)
I normally appreciate Deborah Lippmann's nail polishes, especially the glitter ones, so when I heard two new collections were about to be released, I got excited and curious to see some swatches. But then, from the very first picture, Polka Dots and Moonbeams from the Staccato collection reminded me of something I've seen before. And for less than half the price! I'm talking about Salt n Pepper from W7 - an inexpensive UK brand - which I bought last summer from nailpolishdirect.co.uk and turned out to be a dead-on dupe for Deborah Lippmann's version. (on the other hand, I feel a bit sorry posting this as that website doesn't ship nail polish outside the UK anymore, but you can still purchase Salt n Pepper from ebay. It's not as cheap as the original price, but it's half the price of DL's one anyway).
Normalmente apprezzo molto gli smalti Deborah Lippmann, soprattutto quelli glitterati e quindi, quando ho sentito che stavano per essere lanciate due nuove collezioni, sono diventatata curiosissima di vedere alcuni swatch. Ma poi, dalla primissima immagine, Polka Dots and Moonbeams dalla Staccato collection mi ha ricordato qualcosa di già visto. E a meno della metà del prezzo! Mi riferisco a Salt n Pepper della W7 - un marchio inglese economico - che avevo acquistato la scorsa estate da nailpolishdirect.co.uk e che si è rivelato essere un ottimo dupe per la versione di Deborah Lippmann. (però da un lato mi spiace quasi scrivere questo post, visto che il suddetto sito non spedisce più smalti al di fuori del UK - sempre in seguito alle simpaticissime e recenti restrizioni da parte di Royal Mail. Ma potete comunque acquistare Salt n Pepper da ebay. Non è economico quanto il prezzo originale, ma costa comunque la metà rispetto a quello DL).
W7 Salt n Pepper is a creme white varnish densely packed with black matte glitters - that look blue though.
A single brush stroke deposits a huge amount of glitter, which spreads effortlessly on the nail. And thank makeup gods, there's no need to move around the glittery particles. The only problem comes if you prefer a less dense result, as this varnish is not really buidable and has to be taken as is.
Formula wise, no matter how cheap it is, it's nice to be honest. It's not gloopy as one might think by looking at all those glitters and it's instead liquid in a good way.
The white base is sheer and requires two thick coats because the uneveness is an issue that might occur with this polish. The drying time is also good and after 4 days (with the aim of Seche Vite topcoat) my manicure was still perfect.
But how does it compare to Deborah Lippmann Polka Dots and Moonbeams? Here is the DL's polish.

Salt n Pepper W7 è uno smalto creme bianco pieno zeppo di glitter matte neri - anche se sembrano blu. Una singola passata deposita un'enorme quantità di glitter, che si spargono sull'unghia senza particolare fatica. E grazie agli dei del makeup, non c'è neppure bisogno di muovere e posizionare le particelle glitterate. L'unico problema sussiste se preferite un risultato meno denso, visto che questo smalto non è proprio "costruibile" e va preso così com'è.
In merito alla formula, non importa quanto economico sia, non è male, se devo essere onesta. Non è gommosa come si potrebbe pensare vedendo tutti quei glitter, ma è invece liquida in senso positivo. La base bianca è sheer e richiede due passate abbondanti perché la disomogeneità (presente qualche chiazza più sheer? ecco, quello) è un problema che con questo smalto può manifestarsi. Anche il tempo di asciugatura è buono e dopo 4 giorni (con l'aiuto del topcoat Seche Vite) la mia manicure era ancora perfetta.
Ma la domanda principale è: com'è rispetto a Polka Dots and Moonbeams di Deborah Lippmann? Questo è lo smalto DL. E questi sono gli swatches del W7 Salt n pepper:

The main differences to me are the price (1.95£ vs 19$) and the formula: the DL one is 5-FREE whereas the W7 one has all those "nasty" ingredients.
Oso dire che sì, abbiamo un dupe qui! Le differenze principali per me sono il prezzo (2.30€ vs 19$/20€) e la formula: quello DL è 5-FREE mentre il W7 contiene anche quegli ingredienti che molte preferiscono evitare (toluene & co).

W7 nail polish bottles cointains 15ml and retail for 1.95£ (2.30€ | 3$). Unfortunately, after new restrictions by Royal Mail in shipping "dangerous" goods such as nail polish, W7 varnishes became quite difficult to get. If you live in the UK you can order them online from nailpolishdirect.co.uk. Otherwise I suggest you to have a look on ebay.

NARS line lacked something in between Velvet Gloss lip pencils and the Velvet Matte ones and being quite a fan of those pencils I was obviosuly excited to try out the new addition: Satin lip pencils.
There are 12 shades to chose from, plus one (Jardin des plantes) available exclusively at NARS boutiques or online, and after a moment of indecision (Yu and Lodhi looked gorgeous as well), I finally picked up Luxembourg.
Nella linea di NARS mancava effettivamente qualcosa a metà tra le Velvet Gloss lip pencil e quelle Velvet Matte ed essendo una discreta fan di tale prodotto ero ovviamente curiosa di provare le nuove arrivate: le Satin Lip Pencil. Ci sono 12 tonalità tra cui scegliere, più una (Jardin des plantes) disponibile solo sul sito online, ma dopo un momento di indecisione (anche Yu e Lodhi sembravano altrettanto splendide), alla fine la mia scelta è ricaduta su Luxembourg.

Luxembourg is described as a "vivid watermelon" and, well, it's a stunning color, not for the faint of heart.
It's a vibrant red with strong fuchsia hues - but in certain light it looks more of a fuchsia soaked with red instead - and I don't know about you, but I absolutely love this kind of colors - suppose it all started with MAC Love Goddess lipstick, which I missed out though.
It's extremely creamy and pigmented and the pencil yields a good amount of color just barely touching the lips. It glides on like butter, smoothly and effortlessly.
Being this creamy, you'd expect it to bleed or transfer badly on everything coming in contact with the lips, but surprisingly it doesn't. Once settled, it stays put without smearing - it's not transfer-proof but it doesn't leave stains all over the place either - and I also like that it doesn't settle in the lip lines. On the contrary it creates a smooth look to the lips.
The finish is satin, indeed. Finish and pigmentation wise, to me it's comparable to MAC Amplified finish, which is one of my all time favorites.
Although a pencil may look convenient, this is not actually a "one swipe and go" product and requires spending time in applying. Maybe it's due to my poor skills, but I can't apply Luxembourg straight from the pencil as precisely as I'd like. Maybe that's not a big deal with lighter shades, but with such a bold one, it is for me. So I prefer line the lips applying Luxembourg with a little brush and then swipe it on all over.
Luxembourg viene descritto come un color "anguria vivido" e, ecco, è un colore stupendo e che non passa propriamente inosservato. È un rosso vibrante con dei toni fucsia molto spiccati - ma sotto certe luci invece sembra più un fucsia intriso di rosso - e non so voi, ma io adoro totalmente questo tipo di colori - presumo che tutto sia iniziato col rossetto MAC Love Goddess, che mi sono però lasciata sfuggire.
È estremamente cremoso e pigmentato e la matita produce una certa quantità di colore anche solo toccando appena le labbra. Scorre poi come burro, morbido e senza fatica. Essendo tanto cremoso ci si aspetterebbe che sbavi o che si trasferisca in modo assurdo su qualunque cosa venga in contatto con le labbra, ma per fortuna non è così (altrimenti a quest'ora stareste leggendo della mia ira funesta, presumo). Una volta assestato infatti resta saldo senza sbavare - non è anti-transfer ma non lascia neppure chiazze ovunque - ed apprezzo pure che non si infili in malo modo nelle linee delle labbra. Anzi, aiuta a creare un aspetto levigato. Il finish è, appunto, satinato. E per finish e pigmentazione lo trovo un po' comparabile agli Amplified di MAC, che sono tra i miei preferiti di sempre.
Sebbene però una matita possa sembrare comoda, questo non è esatamente un prodotto da "una passata e via daje che perdo l'autobus" e richiede del tempo nell'applicazione. Magari sarà a causa delle mie scarse doti, ma non riesco a stendere Luxembourg direttamente dalla matita nel modo preciso che vorrei. Magari non sarà un gran problema con le tonalità più chiare, ma con una tanto intensa, per me lo è. Quindi preferisco delineare prima le labbra applicando Luxembourg con un pennellino e poi passarlo su tutto il labbro.

Now, one of my favorite parts: the lasting power. In all honesty I was shocked by the time span it stays bold and opaque on my lips despite drinking or eating.
It lasted 5 hours with a snack break and a dinner in-between - after that it was still there, but needed a touch up in the middle of my lower lip. (for reference: lipsticks usually last 3 hours on me)
And the cherry on top: it's not drying. However I can't say it "drenches the lips in a decadent moisture" either. It's one of those comfortable products that's not moisturizing but neither drying.
The good news: if you don't like other Nars lip pencils (Velvet Gloss and Velvet Matte) because they need to be sharpened every other use, you might like the Satin version better as it doesn't require to be sharpened as much often - due to the rich pigments you just consume a small amount of product every time.
Ora, uno degli aspetti che preferisco: la durata. In tutta onestà sono rimasta colpita dal lasso di tempo in cui è rimasto carico e coprente sulle labbra nonostante avessi mangiato o bevuto. Dura 5 ore con una merenda ed una cena in mezzo - dopodiché è ancora lì, ma necessita di un ritocco soprattutto al centro del mio labbro inferiore. (per dare l'idea, i rossetti di solito su di me durano una media 3 ore). E la ciliegina sulla torta: non secca le labbra. Tuttavia non posso dire che "immerge le labbra in una lussuriosa idratazione"(cit. NARS). È uno di quei prodotti confortevoli ma che non seccano né risultano però idratanti.
La buona notizia: se non vi piacciono le altre matite Nars (Velvet Gloss e Velvet Matte) perché necessitano di essere temperate ogni altro uso, la versione Satin potrebbe piacervi un po' di più, dal momento che non richiede di essere temperata così spesso - a causa dei ricchi pigmenti si va a consumare solo una piccola quantità di prodotto ogni volta.

Europen customers: unfortunately euro prices are the most espensive of all (it happens all the time...) so I suggest you to order them from HQhair.com or SpaceNK as UK prices are much cheaper (17.5£ are about 20€).

With the arrival of Nars on Sephora's italian shelves, I thought to round up all the products I've tried out and to review them briefly. Hope this post could be somehow useful and guide those who don't know where to begin with this large brand or are seeking for the best of the best considering the high price tags.
Anyhow, this post needs an introduction: what you see in these pics is basically 1/4 of my entire makeup stash as NARS has to be my favorite brand along with MAC and I started to buy some bits from the US 3 years ago or so - we all know buying makeup from the US is much cheaper than buying it in Europe, right? (lucky you, fellow bloggers on the other side of the pond!)
In this post there will be just my two cents, which doesn't mean that if a product didn't work for me, it won't work for you either. By the way, if you too tried the same products feel free to leave a comment on what you think, so the post will be more complete and useful for those who never tried anything from this brand.

Con l'arrivo di Nars sugli scaffali italiani di Sephora, ho pensato di fare una raccolta di tutti i prodotti che ho provato finora e di recensirli brevemente. Spero che questo post possa essere in qualche modo utile e riesca a orientare chi non sa da dove iniziare con un brand tanto vasto o chi vuole solo il meglio del meglio senza rischiare la mega sòla - visti prezzi soprattutto. Comunque sia, il post necessita di una premessa: ciò che vedete nelle foto è praticamente 1/4 di tutto il mio arsenale di makeup perché, ebbene sì, credo di poter dire che NARS è il mio marchio preferito assieme a MAC ed ho iniziato ad acquistarne qualche pezzo dagli Stati Uniti 3 anni fa o anche più - okay, ormai lo sapranno pure su Plutone che in USA il makeup (e fosse solo quello...) costa molto meno. Ovviamente tutto il cucuzzaro è stato acquistato in anni e non in pochi mesi, ça va sans dire. In questo post ci saranno giusto i miei 2 centesimi il che, occhio, non significa che se un prodotto non ha funzionato per me, non funzionerà neppure per voi; si tratta solo della mia opinione e della mia esperienza personale, come sempre. Comunque, se avete provato anche voi gli stessi prodotti sentitevi libere di raccontare come vi siete trovate, così il post può diventare ancor più completo e utile per chi del brand non ha testato ancora nulla. ;) (E preparatevi, fate rifornimento di vivere e calorie, perché sarà un post che dire chilometrico è un eufemismo!)
Sheer Glow foundation
This foundation has a lot of hype and (almost) everyone seems to love it. Everyone but me. It is actually my least favorite foundation. It's supposed to be suitable for dry skin but emphasizes every dry patch on me, no matter the ton of moisturizing I slap on my face beforehand. It's like it doesn't blend in and just sits on top of my skin, looking unnatural and cakey. To top it all off, I can't see on me the famous glow many people rave about. I'd say the finish is satin/semi-matte actually.
Cutting to the chase, even if you have oily or combination skin, don't refuse to try a sample just because of the word 'glow' because Sheer Glow isn't sheer nor that glowy - the coverage is light to medium. All in all, it doesn't worth the hype for me though.
Good news: Sheer Glow offers a wide range of shades even for fairest complexions. For reference, I'm NC15 and the shade Gobi (the third lightest one) is still too light.
Bad news: the warm shades have a very strong yellow undertone to them and the foundation doesn't come with a pump.
Questo fondotinta ha molta fama e (quasi) tutte sembrano amarlo. Tutte, eccetto me. Anzi, tra tutti quelli che ho è il fondo che mi piace meno. Dovrebbe essere adatto alle pelli secche ma su di me enfatizza ogni minima area un po' disidratata, nonostante la tonnellata di crema idratante che mi butto addosso prima di stenderlo. È come se non si armonizzasse e restasse seduto sopra la pelle, sembrando innaturale e 'cakey'. Per completare il tutto, non riesco a vedere su di me la famosa radiosità (glow, appunto) di cui molte parlano entusiaste. Per me il finish in realtà è satinato/semi-matte. Andando dritti al punto insomma, anche se la vostra pelle è mista o grassa, non rifiutatevi di provarne un sample a causa del temine 'glow' perché lo Sheer Glow non è né sheer, né glow. La coprenza va da leggera a media, ma non sheer. Nel complesso però, per me non vale la fama che ha. Buona notizia: lo Sheer Glow offre una vasta gamma di tonalità anche per le carnagioni più chiare. Per dare un'idea, io sono un NC15 e il colore Gobi (che è il 3° e neppure il più pallido) è ancora troppo chiaro. Cattiva notizia: le tonalità calde hanno un sottotono marcatamente giallo. In più questo fondotinta non è compreso di erogatore (il dispenser è venduto a parte per 4€).
Sheer Matte foundation
(Since I received a sample of this foundation a small while ago and I've used it only a few times, this are just 'first impressions').
It's a matte foundation, but no overly matte and my skin still looks quite radiant with this on.
I found the coverage better than Sheer Glow and I'd call it medium but not too buidable. I think it would suit combination/oily skin better than dry skin types, considering I had issues spreading it all over my (kinda dry) skin. Despite the liquid consistency, it's difficult to blend in and the 'splotchy effect' is around the corner - I have to check my face twice before going out in public with this on and every time I spot some small areas with no foundation. The good news is that it didn't emphasize dry patches or pores on my face and lasts for a good time span. However, I won't buy the full size and in all honesty, despite not being a bad product, I believe there are better ones for the same price tag, or even for less.
(Visto che ne ho ricevuto un sample poco tempo fa e l'ho provato ancora poche volte, prendete le mie parole solo come 'prime impressioni'). È un fondotinta matte ma non eccessivamente e la mia pelle sembra luminosa anche con questo sopra. Trovo che la coprenza sia migliore dello Sheer Glow e la definirei media ma non troppo modulabile. Credo che questo fondo sia tendenzialmente più adatto per una pelle mista/oleosa rispetto ad una secca, viste le difficoltà che ho avuto nella stesura. Nonostante la consistenza liquida, è infatti difficile da stendere e sfumare e l'effetto a chiazze è dietro l'angolo - prima di uscire in pubblico con questa base devo controllare più volte il viso e ogni volta scorgo qualche piccola area senza fondotinta. La buona notizia è che non ha enfatizzato le aree secche e i pori e che dura per un buon lasso di tempo. Tuttavia non acquisterò la full size e in tutta onestà, per quanto non sia un cattivo prodotto, trovo ce ne siano di migliori per la stessa fascia di prezzo, o anche per meno.
Radiant Creamy concealer
While I kinda hate Sheer Glow foundation, I love this concealer. It's achieving the status of 'my absolute favorite concealer' and considering how problematic my undereye area is, that's not an easy status to obtain. It's creamy but doesn't crease badly even when not set with powder. It lasts almost all day long on me, it's easily blendable and a bit buildable too. The coverage is medium to high.. Moreover it's not drying by any means and is packed with good ingredients to help and treat the eye area (it's not a green product though).
In other words, I absolutely love this concealer and you need to check it out ;)
Mentre odio vagamente il fondotinta Sheer Glow, amo questo correttore. Sta raggiungendo il titolo de 'il mio correttore preferito in assoluto' e, considerando quanto problematica sia la mia area perioculare, non è uno status facile da ottenere. È cremoso ma non si infila tremendamente nelle linee d'espressione anche quando non è fissato con della cipria. Dura quasi per l'intera giornata su di me, è facilmente applicabile e sfumabile ed è anche un po' modulabile. La coprenza va da media ad alta. In più non secca assolutamente la pelle e contiene ingredienti teoricamente validi per aiutare e trattare l'area dell'occhiaia (ma non aspettatevi un prodotto verde!). In altre parole, adoro questo correttore e direi che dovete proprio dargli un'occhiata ;)
Light Reflecting Powder
Another winning product. I've been using this powder pretty much everyday since I got it and I do like it. It perfects the skin creating a 'soft focus' effect, blurring out pores and evening out skin texture. But it does all these wonders in a very natural way: no chalkiness, no white cast.
The finish is semi-matte but luminous, if that makes sense.
The Light Reflecting is available in compact version as well as in loose powder form. The price is the same but with the latter you get more product. However, I chose the first one as I needed a convenient powder to throw in the bag and carry with me. But, if the idea of a jar doesn't bother you, I'd suggest to check that one out first - you just need to use a light hand when applying and you're done.
With the compact version instead you need to use the specific sponge that comes with the powder or a dense, flat-top brush because the texture is very unusual and feels more than stiff, like a chalk block I'd say.
It's a product you appreciate once it's on the face and not just by swatching it.
Good news for those with dehydrated skin: this powder doesn't dry the skin out.
I definitely recommend to check it out!
Un altro prodotto vincente. Sto usando questa cipria quasi ogni giorno da quando l'ho presa e mi piace molto. Perfeziona il viso creando un effetto 'soft focus', mitigando i pori e rendendo più omogenea la trama della pelle. Ma queste meraviglie le fa in modo naturale: niente effetto gessoso, niente riflesso bianco. Il finish è semi-matte ma al contempo luminoso, se riesco a rendere l'idea. La Light Reflecting è disponibile in versione compatta così come in polvere libera. Il prezzo è il medesimo ma con l'ultima avete più prodotto. Io ho però scelto di acquistare la prima versione perché mi serviva una cipria comoda e pratica da gettare in borsa e da portare in giro. Però, se l'idea di una jar con polvere svolazzante non vi infastidisce, vi suggerisco di dare un'occhiata prima a quella: dovete solo dosarla e applicarla con una mano leggera e via, siete a posto. Con la forma compatta invece è necessario utilizzare la spugnetta specifica contenuta nella confezione (che è però delicata e si sporca in fretta) o un pennello ad hoc, come un flat-buki molto fitto, perché la texture è molto inusuale e appare più che compatta, come un blocco di gesso direi. È comunque un prodotto che si apprezza una volta sul viso e non swatchandolo con le dita. Buona notizia per coloro con la pelle disidratata: questa polvera non secca. Consiglio caldamente di darle un'occhiata!
Pure Radiant Tinted moisturizer Full review & swatches
A good tinted moisturizer with SPF30. If it's coverage you want, then this might not be the right product for you. It provides a sheer coverage but the silicone based formula does a great job in concealing pores and subtle imperfections. I like the natural and radiant finish and, by the way, it was my most used face product during last summer.
Does it worth trying it? If you don't mind a tinted moisturizer with a high percentage of silicones in it, then yes.
Review & swatches Una buona crema colorata con la protezione 30. Se volete coprenza, questo potrebbe non essere il prodotto giusto. Fornisce una copertura sheer, molto leggera, ma la formula a base siliconica compie un buon lavoro nel minimizzare i pori e le leggere imperfezioni. Mi piace molto anche il suo finish naturale e radioso e tra l'altro è stato il prodotto viso che ho più utilizzato la scorsa estate. Vale la pena provarlo? Se non vi dispiace usare un tinted moisturizer con una buona percentuale di siliconi, allora sì.
Illuminator
I forgot to include it in the photo but anyway you can see it hereand here. I have this product in Orgasm shade but it's also available in Copacabana, Laguna and Super Orgasm. Basically, it's a liquid highlighter you can use in many ways: on the cheekbone, all over for a radiant boost, mixed with your foundation of choice or with your favorite face or body cream.
Personally I do like it especially mixed with light foundations such as Bourjois Healthy Mix. NARS Illuminator delivers a nice sheer glow that's not too loud and it's a must have of mine for the summertime (I love multipurpose products).
If you have spare money, I'd suggest to check it out.
Ho scordato di includerlo nella foto ma potete comunque vederlo qui e qui. Io h questo prodotto nella tonalità Orgasm ma lo trovate anche in Copacabana, Laguna e Super Orgasm. Fondamentalmente, è un illuminante liquido che potete usare in più modi: sugli zigomi, ovunque per una sferzata di radiosità, mescolato col vostro fondotinta preferito o con la vostra crema viso o corpo. Personalmente mi piace sfruttarlo soprattutto mixato con fondotinta leggeri come i Bourjois Healthy Mix. Il NARS Illuminator apporta una radiosità sheer, non eccessivamente vistosa, ed è uno dei miei prodotti 'must have' per l'estate (apprezzo sempre molto i prodotti multifunzione). Se vi avanza qualche soldo in più, vi suggerisco di provarlo.
Lip Gloss
They're glossy, not really sticky and the lasting powder isn't bad but frankly I don't think they worth the price. They are nice glosses, better than every cheap one I've tried out, okay, but that's it.
If one color really calls your name, then give it a chance as they're not bad.
Otherwise I suggest to focus on other Nars' gems.
Sono lucidi, non molto appiccicosi e la durata non è male ma francamente non credo valgano il prezzo. Sono dei gloss carini, meglio di tutti quelli economici che ho provato, okay, ma questo è tutto. Se un colore vi chiama proprio tipo Sirene nell'Odissea, allora dategli una chance perché non sono malaccio. Altrimenti vi consiglio di focalizzarvi su ben altre meraviglie di Nars.
Larger Than Life lip gloss
Well, these glosses are a slightly different story and I like them better than the previous ones.
They're extremely glossy, rather pigmented and last for hours without being too sticky (but a tiny tiny bit more than other Nars Lip Glosses).
Their peculiarity, besides the really glossy finish, is the applicator which is a teeny tiny brush. I personally like it because it allows me to be precise, but I think those with full lips might find it bothersome.
Either way, a fan of shiny lip gloss, will likely love these ones.
Ecco, questi gloss sono una storia leggermente diversa e mi piacciono più dei precedenti. Sono estremamente lucidi, discretamente pigmentati e durano per ore senza essere troppo appiccicosi (lo sono un pochino-ino di più dei Lip Gloss ma sono tollerabili). La loro peculiarità, oltre al finish molto glossy, è l'applicatore che consiste in un pennellino piccolissimo. A me piace perché consente di essere precisi, ma credo che le ragazze con labbra molto piene e carnose potrebbero trovarlo fastidioso. Comunque sia, ad un'accanita utilizzatrice di gloss ultra lucidi, questi probabilmente piaceranno molto.
Lipstick (Satin)
NARS lipsticks are available in 3 different finishes: Sheer, Satin and Semi Matte.
And there are also Pure Matte lipsticks with totally different formula and packaging as well. But since I've only tried one Satin lipstick I won't talk about other finishes.
I don't know why, but I was afraid it would have been drying but, ladies, it's not. I really enjoy the formula, which is pigmented but feels light on the lips and also lasts more than my standards. It's comfortable to wear even if it can become slighlty (and I mean slightly) drying after 5 hours.
To me, though, NARS' Satin lippies aren't that similar to MAC's Satin-s. The latter are usually a bit thicker and don't glide on the lip as much smoothly - don't get me wrong, I love those too though.

I suggest to swatch Afghan Red, Niagara, Tolède and Dressed to kill.
I rossetti NARS sono disponibili in 3 differenti finish: Sheer, Satin e Semi Matte. E ci sono anche i rossetti Pure Matte con formula e packaging totalmente differenti. Ma visto che ne ho provato solo uno dal finish Satin, non parlerò delle altre finiture. Non so perché, ma inizialmente temevo seccasse molto le labbra ma, signore, non lo fa. Mi piace molto la formula invece, che è pigmentata ma leggera sulle labbra e che dura anche di più rispetto ai miei standard di 3h. È confortevole da indossare anche se inizia leggermente (ma intendo proprio leggermente) a seccare dopo tipo 5 ore. Secondo me, però, i Satin di NARS non sono così simili ai Satin di MAC. Quest'ultimi di norma sono un po' più spessi nella consistenza e non scorrono sulle labbra in modo altrettanto fluido - non fraintentemi eh, amo pure quelli. (Quello nell'immagine è il colore Afghan Red, un rosso granata). Vi consiglierei di swatchare Afghan Red, Niagara, Tolède e Dressed to Kill.
Velvet Gloss lip pencil
I did a full review here of Buenos Aires shade. These are meant to be like medium pigmented gloss in pencil form but they're more of decently pigmented lipsticks with a shiny finish to me - the word 'lip gloss' makes me think of stickiness and hair stuck on the lips in a windy day, but this is not the case. Unlike proper lip glosses, in fact, these aren't sticky (just a tiny tiny bit, totally bearable) and the glossiness is average. To me they're comfortable to wear and tend to last longer than standard gloss. Buenos Aires is a peachy nude beige - similar in color to MAC Peachstock lipstick - while NewLover is a rosy pink with golden shimmer.
If you like light and "swipe and go" products, these may worth your money.
Another pretty shade to swatch: Mexican Rose.
Una review completa del colore Buenos Aires l'avevo fatta qui. Queste sono pensate per essere una sorta di gloss mediamente pigmentati sotto forma di matita ma per me sono più dei rossetti discretamente pigmentati e con un finish lucido - la parola 'lip gloss' mi fa pensare a qualcosa di viscoso e ai capelli appiccicati alle labbra in una giornata di vento, ma non è questo il caso. Diversamente da veri lip gloss, questi non sono collosi (giusto un pochino-ino ma è veramente tollerabile e non fastidioso) e la lucidità è nella media. A mio sentire sono confortevoli e tendono a durare più a lungo di un comune gloss. Buenos Airesè un nude beige-barra-pesca (simile nel colore al rossetto Peachstock di MAC) mentre New Loverè un color rosa con shimmer dorati. Se vi piacciono i prodotti leggeri da "una passata e via", allora questi potrebbero valere le vostre pecunie. Un altro colore meritevole di essere swatchato: Mexican Rose.
Velvet Matte lip pencil
As the name tells, these are pencils with a true matte finish, a creamy texture that applies easily and with a not drying formula.
I've tried two sades so far: one is nice, the other one is just okay. Dolce Vita is a dusty rosy red, a kind of your lips color but better. It's medium pigmented and can achieve opaqueness with two or three swipes. It's creamy but not too much, doesn't smear but doesn't wear long either. Whereas Never Say Never - a beautiful "lavander" rose - isn't as good: it's not very pigmented, and what's worse, the result is a bit patchy on me and I have to go back and forth with the pencil in order to even it out. However the main problem I have with these is the longevity: they don't survive a meal or a quick snack and Never Say Never doesn't even last more than 2 to 3 hours.
So if you're on the hunt for comfortable matte lip product, give them a look. Otherwise, supposing you're more interested in long lasting products, skip them.
If you like them, try to swatch: Dragon Girl (above all), Train Blue, Dolce Vita and Bolero.
Come dice il nome stesso, queste sono matite con un finish totalmente matte, con una texture cremosa che si applica facilmente e con una formula che non secca. Finora ne ho provate due tonalità: una non è male, l'altra è semplicemente 'okay'. Dolce Vitaè un color 'labbra ma meglio' rosato. La pigmentazione è media e può raggiungere una buona coprenza con due o tre passate. È cremoso ma non troppo, non sbava ma purtroppo non dura neppure molto. Never Say Never - un bel rosa con una punta lavanda - non è invece altrettanto valido: non è particolarmente pigmentato e, che è peggio, il risultato sulle mie labbra non è omogeneo e devo passare la matita avanti e indietro più volte per poterlo migliorare. Il problema principale che ho con questo prodotto è però proprio la durata: non sopravvivono ad un pasto o ad uno snack veloce e Never Say Never non dura neppure più di 2 o massimo 3 ore. Se siete a caccia di un prodotto matte che sia anche piacevole da indossare, dategli un'occhiata. Altrimenti, ipotizzando miriate più alla durata, lasciate stare. Se vi piacciono, provare a swatchare anche: Dragon Girl (questo dovete proprio provarlo), Train Blue, Dolce Vita e Bolero.
Satin lip pencil
I tried Luxembourg and I like it a lot. Supposing the other colors have the same texture and quality of Luxembourg, they are very creamy, smooth yet really pigmented. The color pay off is fantastic and the lasting power is as much good. I definitely recommend these pencils!

Supponendo che anche gli altri colori abbiano le stesse texture e qualità di Luxembourg, diciamo che sono molto cremose, morbide ma anche più che pigmentate. Powder blush
Now, the most famous and hyped NARS' products. Are they worth the hype? Yes. Definitely. NARS and Illamasqua blushes are my all time favorite. However, some shades worth more than others - which doesn't mean the others are 'bad' products, but that they don't live up to the massive hype in my opinion. Sin is my favorite one: extremely pigmented but easy to blend and with smooth texture, lasts up to 8 hours on me, and has an interesting color that I don't know where to begin describing it. I know in the pan it doesn't look appealing at all but, trust me, swatch it, ask the SA to try it on, because it's worthy. Top notch quality, gorgeous color. (it has shimmer to it, but extremely fine, it's definitely more of a sheen). Orgasm is overhyped for some, but it's still a pretty classic for me. I prefer Sin's quality but this is also quite good and may worth your money, depending on what you expect from it: if you' expect it to be the most amazing blush on this Earth because of all the hype, then no, I'm afraid it's not. But if you'd expect a beautiful peachy pink with golden sheen that warms and brightens up your face, then yes. Angelika is a cool pink with silver shimmer. Many people love it but I just like it. Don't get me wrong, it's nice and with a good quality but I don't love that silver shimmer (not as fine as I'd like and looks like small glittery particles here and there, when applied with the wrong brush). The shade can be flattering on both warm and cool undertones since it's not too cool. It's pigmented, quite smooth and blends in effortlessly. Outlaw has such a gorgeous color to me (a sort of deep rose with golden shimmer) but, formula wise, is the most unfortunate of the bunch (which means that it's an 'okay' product, but not as good as others). The pigmentation is not the best and so is the blendability. The texture is dry and stiff and you need to go back and forth with the brush in order to get a good amount of product. Other than that, it has a good staying power. You might like it a lot if you prefer buidable blushes rather than overly pigmented ones and if you're fair - if you need to pack up the color on your medium/deep complexion, Outlaw might turn out to be difficult to blend. Nonetheless, I can't not to love the color. Luster is another successful blush, described as a "sheer golden apricot". I love it, full stop. I like the texture - smooth, easy to apply and blend - and the color pay off which can be sheer in a good way or easily built up. It's not matte by any means but the golden sheen makes it luminous and not too over the top. It will be one of my go-to blushes this summer for sure.
Those with very fair complexions or cool undertones might want to try it on before purchasing as the base shade is markedly warm. Albatross is a well known highlighter. It has an ivory base and golden sheen with some finest shimmer as well. To be honest it's not my favorite highlighter or NARS' product. I'd say it's a medium-a-bit-obvious-highlighter (hope that makes sense) that could be a little ashy on medium to dark skin tones perhaps. I know it has a lot of hype but to me there are better NARS blushes. Again, it's a good product, but not one of the best in my opinion. All of these are shimmer and so are most NARS' blushes. But if you prefer matte finish, then focus on: Douceur, Mata Hari, Gilda, Dolce Vita, Amour, Gina, Desire and Exhibit A.
Ora, il più famoso e chiacchierato tra tutti i prodotti NARS. Valgono la
fama che hanno? Sì. Decisamente. I blush NARS e Illamasqua sono in
assoluto quelli che preferisco. Anche se, va detto, alcune tonalità
meritano più di altre - il che non significa che le altre siano pessimi
prodotti, ma che semplicemente non tengono fede alla fama assurda che
hanno, a mio vedere. Sinè il mio preferito: davvero pigmentato ma
facile da sfumare e con una texture molto setosa, dura anche 8 ore su di
me e ha pure un colore interessante che non saprei da dove iniziare a
descrivere. So che nella cialda non attira affatto ma, credetemi,
swatchatelo, chiedete di provarlo, perché vale. Qualità ottima, colore
splendido. (non è matte ma ha degli shimmer estremamente fini, che danno
come effetto quello di un riflesso, di una luminosità, non di
particelle sparse qua e là). Orgasmè sopravvalutato e inflazionato per alcune, ma resta sempre un
bel classico secondo me. Preferisco la qualità di Sin ma anche questo è
abbastanza buono e può valere la spesa, dipende da ciò che vi aspettate
da lui: se vi aspettate il blush più fantasmagorico del pianeta stando a
tutto l"hype" che gli gira attorno, allora no, temo proprio non lo
sia. Ma se vi aspettate un bel rosa pesca con un riflesso dorato che
scalda e illumina il viso, allora sì. Angelikaè un rosa freddo con
shimmer argento. Molte persone lo amano, ma diciamo che a me piace
semplicemente. Non fraintendetemi, è un blush carino e con una buona
qualità ma non sono questa gran amante degli shimmer argentati (non sono
fini come vorrei e quando applicati col pennello sbagliato sembrano più
dei piccoli glitter qua e là). La tonalità può donare sia a sottotoni
caldi che a sottotoni freddi dal momento che non butta troppo al freddo. È pigmentato, abbastanza mordido nella texture e si sfuma bene. Outlaw
ha per me una tonalità così splendida... (una specie di rosa sangria
con shimmer dorati) ma, per quanto concerne la formula, è il più
sfortunato del gruppo - cioè non è pessimo, ma neanche valido quanto gli altri. La pigmentazione non è la migliore e
neppure la sfumabilità. La texture è arida, molto compatta e c'è
bisogno di passare il pennello avanti e indietro per prelevare una buona
quantità di prodotto. A parte questo, ha una buona capacità di durata.
Potrebbe piacervi se preferite i blush dalla pigmentazione modulabile
piuttosto che quelli ultra intensi e se siete un po' chiare di carnagione
- se avete bisogno di stratificare il colore sul vostro ipotetico
incarnato medio/medio-scuro, Outlaw potrebbe rivelarsi difficile da
sfumare bene. Nonostante tutto però, non posso non amarne il colore. Lusterè un altro blush vincente, descritto come un "albicocca dorato e
sheer". Lo adoro, punto. Mi piace la texture - vellutata, facile da
stendere e sfumare - e la resa del colore che può essere sheer, in senso
buono, o facilmente costruita e intensificata. Non è assolutamente
matte e lo sheen dorato lo rende luminoso ma non sopra le righe. Sarà di certo uno dei blush che più sfrutterò in estate. Chi
ha un incarnato particolarmente chiaro in stile nordico o dei sottotoni
molto freddi è meglio che lo provi sul viso prima di passare ad un
eventuale acquisto perché il colore di base è marcatamente caldo. Albatrossè un famoso illuminante. Ha una base avorio ed un riflesso dorato con
degli shimmer finissimi. Ad essere onesta non è il mio preferito tra gli
highlighter o i prodotti NARS. Direi che è un
medio-abbastanza-visibile-illuminante e forse potrebbe risultare un po'
gessoso su pelli da medie a scure. So che ha una buona dose di fama ma
per me ci sono blush di Nars che meritano di più. Di nuovo, lo vedo
un buon prodotto, ma non uno dei migliori che consiglierei a tutti i costi ad un'amica. Tutti questi sono blush shimmer, così come la maggior parte dei blush NARS. Se preferite il finish matte, focalizzatevi su Douceur, Mata Hari, Gilda, Dolce Vita, Amour, Gina, Desire ed Exhibit A.
Bronzer (Laguna)
I'm no the biggest fan of bronzers and I don't use them that often but when I do, Laguna is my bronzer of choice.
It looks dark in the pan, too dark for a light complexion, but it can be actually sheered down. I can use it without issue on my NC15 face because it's not too pigmented, but buildable and above all blendable. A lot depends on the brush you choose. I don't think, however, that's the best product ever for countouring because despite not being orange it's not cool enough either - at least for me. It's not completely matte and has the subtlest shimmer to it, but the overall finish is satin/semi-matte though. All in all it's a good product.
Non sono la più grande amante dei bronzer o terre, che dir si voglia, e non le uso così spesso, ma quando lo faccio la scelta ricade sempre su Laguna. Nella cialda sembra scuro, troppo scuro per una carnagione chiara, ma in realtà può facilmente apparire leggero. Riesco ad usarlo senza problemi sul mio viso da NC15 perché non è troppo pigmentato, ma costruibile e soprattutto sfumabile. Molto dipende dal pennello che utilizzate. Non penso comunque sia il miglior prodotto del mondo per il contouring perché, per quanto non sia aranciato, non è neppure abbastanza freddo - o almeno non lo è per me. Non è totalmente matte ed ha un finish shimmer davvero leggero: l'aspetto generale è infatti quello di una finitura satinata/semi-matte. Nel complesso è un buon prodotto e se amate i bronzer, dategli uno sguardo.
Cream blush
NARS cream blushes have a cream-to-powder finish and the texture is different from your usual cream blush. It doesn't feel literally creamy - it's difficult to leave a fingerprint on the pan - and once set on your cheeks nobody would tell it's a cream product. There aren't too many shades (7) to choose from and Penny Lane is maybe the most loved by many. I, however, picked up Cactus Flower. It's insanely bright and scary in the pan but it can be easily sheered down as it's not overly pigmented. The problem with that is the lasting powder, which isn't the same of powder blushes.
In all honesty, I suggest to focus more on the powder ones rather than on these - or at least on Cactus Flower (I don't know if others have the same formulation but I think so).
I blush in crema di NARS hanno un finish diverso dal solito: cream-to-power, ovvero sono cremosi ma da applicati mimano i blush in polvere. Non sembrano propriamente cremosi - è un po' difficile lasciare un'impronta sulla cialda - ed una volta assestati sulla guancia, nessuno direbbe che si tratta di un prodotto in base cremosa. Non sono presenti troppe tonalità tra cui scegliere (7) e Penny Lane è forse la più amata da molte. Io però a suo tempo ho scelto Cactus Flower. È assurdamente acceso nella confezione ma si rivela poi essere anche sheer e non troppo pigmentato. Il problema che ho con questo prodotto è purtroppo la durata, che non è la stessa dei blush in polvere. In tutta onestà, consiglierei di focalizzarsi più sui Powder Blush che su questi - o almeno su Cactus Flower (ignoro se gli altri abbiano la stessa formulazione ma presumo di sì).
Yachiyo brush
For some reason, I'm somehow fond of this brush. I had wanted to get it for years and then bought it a year ago thanks to a special offer on HQhair. Did I regret it? Absolutely no. Did you really need this tool? No, but it's a good addition to your stash if you like applying your blush with a light hand and leave the 80s where they were. I don't know if you'd find this brush useful if most of your blushes are buildable and not very pigmented though - to me it's a godsend when it comes to uber pigmented ones such as some from Nars or Illamasqua (this is the brush I always use with Sin, by the way). It's like it does all the job by itself, creating a perfectly blended effect - kinda difficult to explain though.
(Note: not suitable for vegans because the bristles are made of goat hair)
Per una ragione imprecisata, sono in qualche modo affezionata a questo pennello. L'ho desiderato per anni e l'ho acquistato un anno fa grazie ad uno sconto speciale su HQhair. Me ne sono pentita? Assolutamente no. Avete davvero bisogno di questo attrezzo? No, ma è una buona aggiunta al vostro esercito se vi piace applicare il blush con un tocco leggero e lasciare gli anni 80 là dove stanno. Non so se possiate trovarlo utile nel caso in cui i vostri blush siano poco pigmentati e più modulabili però - per me è una manna quando si tratta di quelli molto scriventi come alcuni Nars o Illamasqua (e tra l'altro è il pennello con cui applico sempre Sin). È un po' come se facesse tutto il lavoro da sé, creando un effetto perfettamente sfumato ai bordi - okay, è difficile da spiegare. (Nota: non adatto a vegani perché le setole sono naturali e fatte di pelo di capra).

I heard good thing also about single eyeshadows, NARS eye primer and Larger than Life eyeliner. What I do NOT recommend are Super Orgasm blush (chunky glitter ahead!) and Soft Touch Shadow pencil (they crease like there's no tomorrow - to give you an idea).
Ci sono altri prodotti NARS che non possiedo ma so che valgono la pena. Pure Matte lipsticks: Carthage, Valparaiso, Terre De Feu, Mascate Semi Matte lipsticks: Funny Face Ho inoltre sentito buone opinioni sugli ombretti singoli, il primer occhi e i Larger than Life eyeliner. Ciò che invece NON consiglio assolutamente sono il blush Super Orgasm (glitterazzi giganti a ore dodici!) e le Soft Touch Shadow pencil (si infilano in ogni dove come non ci fosse un domani - giusto per dare un'idea).
Oh My. It was hard labor but also fun! Either way, I do hope this was helpful and gave you an idea on what you can find in the NARS' line and what's worth the hype -and the splurge- and what's not (in my opinion).

I caved in. I knew it was just a matter of time before I ordered some bits from SpaceNK - which is, by the way, that shop where, if you are distracted and blown away by all those beauty wonders and absently threw a few in your cart, your heart might skip a beat once you look at the total sum (not to mention the wallet that you might hear telling you "no no no no, pretty please"). But, on the other hand, it's a sort of heaven for every makeup lover - I also saw pictures of the boutiques in London and I'll be definitely stopped by one of them in my next trip to London.
Ho ceduto. The shipping is expensive, if you ask me, and I wish there was a free-shipping threshold for us european customers too (shelling out 100£ and having to pay even 9£ more is kinda annoying), however, the shipment was fast and my order arrived after a week or so, nicely wrapped and also with two samples inside the box.
By the way, I have to blame one of those samples for my recent lust for a perfume from Acqua di Parma. Seriously, it's been years since the last time I liked a perfume this much. I'm talking about Acqua Nobile Iris. If only it wasn't so expensive...

La spedizione è piuttosto cara a mio avviso e mi piacerebbe se esistesse anche per noi clienti europei una soglia oltre cui poter avere la spedizione gratuita (sborsare, ad esempio, 100£ e doverne aggiungere altri 11€ non è il massimo del divertimento), tuttavia la spedizione è stata veloce e l'ordine mi è arrivato dopo una settimana circa, impacchettato in modo fine ed anche con due sample dentro alla scatola.
Ah tra l'altro, è tutta colpa di uno dei due omaggi se ora bramo ardentemente un profumo di Acqua di Parma. Davvero, erano anni che non mi piaceva un profumo a tal punto. This is going to be a quick post all about concealers for light complexions like an NC10, NC15 and NC20.
I always find comparative swatches on other blogs beyond useful as I have to order most beauty products online - yeah, I'm that brave - since many brands (or the lightest shades from a brand at least) aren't often available in my Country.
What I always do before purchasing is reading tons of reviews and then looking for swatches, hoping to also find comparisons with other products and shades I already have in my stash.
And I have to thank some fellow bloggers if I haven't bought a wrong shade of foundation/concealer in a while. So I too thought to gather all of my concealers (which are a ton, aehm) and swatch them. I did my best to photograph the colors as true as possible and I hope this post could be somehow useful.
Quello di oggi sarà un post veloce riguardante i correttori per le carnagioni chiare come un NC10, NC15 e NC20.
Gli swatches comparativi sugli altri blog li trovo sempre più che utili, considerando che mi trovo costretta ad ordinare online la maggior parte dei prodotti beauty - sono così coraggiosa, ah! - visto che molti marchi (o le tonalità più chiare di un dato marchio) non vengono commercializzati qui da noi e ciò rimane per me un gran mistero del marketing.
Quello che faccio sempre prima di passare all'acquisto è leggere tonnellate di review e cercare poi qualche swatch, sperando di trovare anche delle comparazioni con altri prodotti o tonalità già in mio possesso. E devo ringraziare alcune colleghe blogger se è da tempo che non mi ritrovo ad acquistare la tonalità sbagliata di un correttore/fondotinta.
E quindi ho pensato anch'io di radunare quasi tutti i miei correttori (che sono una carriolata, aehm) e swatcharli. Ho cercato di fare del mio meglio nel fotografare i colori nel modo più fedele possibile e spero che questo post possa essere utile in qualche modo utile o indicativo.
For reference, I'm a true NC15 but my forearm is lighter, more like an NC10 I believe.
My best foundation matches are B10 in Chanel, 51 in Bourjois, Deauville in NARS and, of course, NC15 in MAC.
Some of the following concealers are too dark for my face but are perfect to counteract my dark undereye circles (you know, panda's syndrome...) on which I have to go one or two shades darker otherwise they turn greyish.
Per rendere l'idea, sono un buon NC15 ma il mio avambraccio è più chiaro, più come un NC10 credo. Le colorazioni di fondotinta che più mi si addicono sono B10 in Chanel, 51 in Bourjois, Deauville in NARS e, non poteva mancare, NC15 in MAC.
Alcuni dei correttori seguenti sono troppo scuri per il mio viso ma sono perfetti per contrastare le mie occhiaie marcate (presente no? La sindrome del panda...) sulle quali devo andare di una o due tonalità più scure altrimenti diventano vagamente grigie.
The lightest one is Bobbi Brown creamy concealer in Porcelain, which I eyeball as something around an NC10, followed by MUFE camouflage cream 13 which is slightly more pink based. I'd say the most true to an NC15 complexion are Urban Decay concealer pencil in DEA and MUFE HD concealer 315, but the Maybelline Eraser Light is rather close as well.
While the darkest, in ascending order, are Rimmel Wake Me up in 010 Ivory - that's supposed to be the lightest one of the line but I'd say it's not that ivory actually, OCC concealer Y1 - the equivalent of an NC18/NC20, NARS Radiant concealer in Custard which is between NC20/NC25 and Inglot cream concealer L200 - even if that's just the second lightest shade of the line I'd say it's actually more of an NC25.
Most of these, with MUFE camouflage as the only exception, have warm undertones.
Il più chiaro è il Bobbi Brown creamy concealer in Porcelain, che ad occhio stimerei essere attorno ad un NC10, seguito da MUFE camouflage cream 13 che ha una base leggermente più rosata. Direi che quelli che più sono dei veri NC15 sono Urban Decay concealer in DEA e MUFE HD 315, ma anche il Maybelline Cancella Età in Light si avvicina abbastanza.
Mentre i più scuri, in ordine crescente, sono il Rimmel Wake me up in 010 Ivory - che dovrebbe essere il tono più chiaro della linea ma a dir il vero non direi che è così avorio, OCC concealer Y1 - l'equivalente di un NC18/NC20, il NARS Radiant Creamy concealer in Custard che è tra l'NC20 e NC25, ma più vicino al secondo, e infine l'Inglot cream concealer L200 - anche se è appena la seconda tonalità più chiara della linea direi che in realtà è più un NC25.
La maggior parte, col MUFE camouflage come unica eccezione, hanno un sottotono caldo.

It's been a while since the last time I bought some mineral makeup (and with 'a while' I mean literally years), until last week. The new collection by Neve Cosmetics (Immaginaria) has been released and the new blush Urban Fairy called my name. Although I'm not the biggest fan of loose powders as they're not very convenient for me, who loves throwing makeup in the bag and carry it with me during the day, I eventually placed a small order and added some other bits to the cart.
È passato un po' di tempo dall'ultima volta che mi sono data all'acquisto di makeup minerale (e con "un po'" intendo letteralmente anni), ma questo accadeva prima della scorsa settimana. La nuova collezione Immaginaria di Neve Cosmetics è stata infatti lanciata ed il nuovo blush Urban Fairy mi chiamava decisamente. Nonostante non sia la più grande amante delle polveri libere, dal momento che non sono esattamente comode per me che amo buttare il makeup in borsa e portarmelo in giro durante il giorno, alla fine ho comunque deciso di piazzare un piccolo ordine e di aggiungere qualche altra cosa al carrello.

I ended up buying two blushes, one eyeshadow (that I'll use as blush as well) and one of the fairly new natural lipsticks Dessert à Lèvres, which intrigued me a lot - that was predictable though as my love for lipsticks is quite common knowledge at this point. Furthermore, Neve Cosmetics is always kind enough to add a free sample to every order and I received another blush, London Mood - which is exactly the one I asked for. Well done, Neve! Thumbs up!
Sono finita col prendere due blush, un ombretto (che userò come blush) e uno dei relativamente nuovi rossetti naturali Dessert à Lèvres, che mi intrigava parecchio - cosa prevedibile però visto che la mia mania per i rossetti a questo punto è cosa abbastanza risaputa. In più, Neve è gentile da aggiungere un campione omaggio ad ogni acquisto e quello che ho ricevuto io è un altro blush, London Mood - che era esattamente quello che avevo richiesto. Quindi un grazie e un doppio pollice in su per Neve.

I can't talk in depth about quality and performance since I haven't tried them more than twice, but so far I've been actually impressed by Mousse Framboise: I wouldn't have bet on its longevity as mineral amd natural makeup doesn't usually make me think of something longlasting but that lipstick seems to actually last more than certain MAC's finishes.
What is instead a bit different from what I'd expected in terms of color is Urban Fairy, a blush launched with the Immaginaria collection. It's described as a "light brick rose with the lightest green sheen" but I just can't spot that green sheen to be honest. Nevertheless it looks pretty.

Non posso dire nulla nel dettaglio su qualità e prestazioni visto che non li ho ancora provati più di un paio di volte, ma per ora sono rimasta colpita da Mousse Framboise: non avrei scommesso sulla sua durata, considerando che il makeup minerale-barra-naturale non mi fa solitamente pensare a qualcosa di longevo, ma quel rossetto sembra effettivamente durare anche più di certi finish di MAC. Ciò che invece mi aspettavo diverso in termini di colore è Urban Fairy, uno dei due blush promosso con la collezione Immaginaria. Viene descritto come un "rosa chiaro mattone con delicatissimi riflessi verde germoglio" ma ad essere sincera non riesco proprio a scorgere questi riflessi verdi. Nonostante tutto resta comunque un blush carino. (E in caso vi interessassero altri swatch della nuova collezione, date un'occhiata al suo suo post ed anche al suo!)
Overall I'm satisfied with my purchases and I'll try to review some as soon as possible.

Well, yes, I too jumped on the Rimmel Apocalips bandwagon weeks ago and in all honesty I'm glad I did.
You may (or may not) know pretty much everything about this lip product by now, as almost everyone in the beauty community has been talking about it. But nonetheless I'm gonna add my two cents on the matter too.
Ebbene sì, settimane fa ho preso anch'io parte al club delle Rimmel Apocalips munite e tutta onestà sono pure lieta d'averlo fatto. Ormai saprete (o forse no) praticamente tutto su questo prodotto labbra, visto che è così chiacchierato nel mondo dei beauty blog. Ma nonostante tutto aggiungerò anch'io i miei due centesimi sulla faccenda (ne sentivamo davvero il bisogno? Assolutamente no, ma son dettagli).

The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine. It's neither a lipstick nor a gloss... It's BIGGER than both!"
Firstly, let me tell you that I agree with the official description. They're not lipsticks, of course, but neither glosses. I know some refer to them as "lip staining products" but to me these are mere liquid lipsticks with a glossy finish and an insane pigmentation.
The first one I got was Apocalyptic and I liked it so much that I couldn't help but buying other two shades: Luna and Celestial. Are there differences between the three in terms of formula/quality?
In all honesty, yes, there are. However today I'll just ramble about Celestial and save the rest for a future time.
Celestial is a beautiful muted rosy pink. It's that sort of pink that, with its warm base, I can see working on many complexions, even mine which clashes with light pink colors for most of the time. Compared with the other shades I got (Luna and Apocalyptic) this is definitely the most muted one out of the three, but it's also the one I've been using the most.
Celestial glides nicely on the lips creating an even, shiny and smooth look and it does not settle in the lines making your lips looking 10 years older either. It's also comfortable and not sticky by any means.
The application is a bit tricky though, much like happens with all other Apocalips. They don't smear nor bleed, as long as you apply them the right way though. Otherwise, if you deposit too much product near the lip border, the color will smear in a matter of half an hour. So I truly suggest you to apply your Apocalips of choice on the centre of your lip at first, and then to spread what's left on the applicator on the rest of your lips.
Apocalips are so uber pigmented and the doefoot applicator collects so much product that I never need to dip the applicator more than once. A little goes indeed a long way.
As for the smell, they have an artificial scent (fruity perhaps?) to them that I'm not able to describe and which translates in a slightly sweet and, again, artificial taste. Scented cosmetics don't usually bother me and Apocalips are no exception, but it's definitely something to keep in mind if you can't stand most scented/flavored products.
Longevity wise, speaking about Celestial, it's not the greatest. I'm not known for being the person on which lipsticks last a whole day, but Celestial lasts about 3-4 hours on me but it starts to fade after 2. If I eat something, it doesn't survive and I'm left with a slightly pink tinge that definitely needs a revamp.
If you're on the market for a longlasting lip product, I don't think Celestial is the right one for you. But overall I feel I can recommend it to those who like the idea of a liquid lipstick which isn't neither drying nor tacky or also to those who struggle finding a light pink lipstick suiting their complexion.
Per prima cosa, fatemi dire che sono d'accordo con la descrizione ufficiale. Non sono rossetti, ovvio, ma neppure gloss. So che alcune li descrivono come "tinte labbra" ma per me questi sono più dei meri rossetti liquidi con un finish lucido ed una pigmentazione assurda.
Il primo che ho preso è stato Apocalyptic e mi è piaciuto talmente tanto che non ho potuto fare a meno di comprare altre due tonalità: Luna e Celestial (grazie Feelunique per le tue promozioni).
Ci sono differenze tra i tre in termini di formula/qualità?
In tutta onestà, sì, ci sono. Oggi però ciarlerò solo di Celestial e tengo in serbo il resto per un futuro.
Celestial è un bellissimo (concedetemelo) rosa spento, ma neanche troppo. È quel tipo di rosa che, con la sua base calda, può funzionare su molte carnagioni, persino sulla mia che fa a pugni con i rosa chiari per la maggior parte del tempo. Rispetto agli altri toni che ho preso (Luna e Apocalyptic) questo è decisamente il più spento fra i tre, ma è anche quello che sto usando di più.
Celestial si stende agilmente sulle labbra creando un aspetto omogeneo e lucido e non va neppure ad infilarsi nelle linee facendo sembrare le labbra di 10 anni in più. È inoltre confortevole e assolutamente non appiccicoso.
L'applicazione è però un po' delicata, come succede anche con gli altri Apocalips, del resto. Non sbavano e non migrano, finché vengono applicati nel modo giusto. Altrimenti, se depositate troppo prodotto vicino al bordo delle labbra, il colore finirà con lo sbavare nel giro di una mezz'ora. Quindi suggerisco caldamente di applicare il vostro Apocalips prelescelto prima al centro del labbro e di spargere poi sul resto delle labbra ciò che è rimasto sull'applicatore.
Gli Apocalips sono infatti così ultra pigmentati e l'applicatore raccoglie talmente tanto prodotto che non ho mai bisogno di intingere l'applicatore più di una volta. Con una piccola quantità qua fate molta strada.
Per quanto riguarda la profumazione invece, sì, ha un odore artificiale (fruttato forse?) che non riesco proprio a descrivere e che si traduce in un sapore leggermente dolce e, di nuovo, artificiale. I cosmetici con odori o sapori di norma non mi creano fastidio e gli Apocalips non fanno eccezione, ma se voi ne siete spesso infastidite è sicuramente un dettaglio da tenere a mente.
Sulla durata devo dire che non è propriamente la migliore. Non sono nota per essere la persona su cui i rossetti durano una giornata intera, ma Celestial resiste per circa 3-4 ore su di me ma inizia a sbiadire già dopo 2. Se mangio qualcosa non sopravvive e mi lascia con una sfumatura rosata che necessita decisamente di una sistemata.
Se siete alla ricerca di un prodotto labbra a lunga durata, non credo che Celestial faccia al caso vostro. Ma nel complesso mi sento di consigliarlo a chi apprezza l'idea di un rossetto liquido che non secchi né risulti viscoso o anche a chi fatica a trovare un rosa chiaro che si addica alla sua carnagione.

This product has its limits but for 5£ isn't actually bad and worth to be checked out. Furthermore, I love the pink hue so much that I hope to find a dupe in lipstick form - you know, at the end of the day regular lipsticks are my biggest makeup love.

Questo prodotto ha i suoi limiti ma per 5€ e qualcosa non è male e merita di essere considerato. In più, mi sta piacendo così tanto questo punto di rosa che spero di trovarne un dupe sottoforma di rossetto - lo sapete no, alla fin fine i classici rossetti sono la mia passione cosmetica principale.

MAC Let's Skate prolongwear paint pot (19.50€ | 18.50$ | 14.50£)
MAC Let's Skate paint pot intrigued me from the first release, when it wasn't a 'Pro Longwear' paint pot yet but just a regular one. I remember though that MAC stores received only a few and they sold out right away. Therefore when MAC repromoted and added it to the permanent line I thought it was time to give it a go.
MAC Let's Kate è un paint pot che mi intrigava già al suo primo lancio, quando ancora non era un paint pot 'Pro Longwear' ma semplicemente uno tradizionale. Ricordo però che negli store MAC ne erano arrivati solo pochissimi e che erano andati sold out in men che non si dica.
Di conseguenza quando MAC l'ha riproposto e inserito nella linea permanente, ho pensato fosse arrivato il momento di passare all'acquisto.
Let's Skate is part of the relatively new Pro Longwear paint pots and is described as "pale pink with pearl" but I'd say it has actual glitter to it rather than pearl. It's a pale pastel pink but the base turns into a whit-ish, sheer wash of color once on the lid. Also, the base is sheer but packed with golden glitter (and some hot pink sparkles here and there too). Let's Skate fa parte dei relativamente nuovi paint pot Pro Longwear ed è descritto come un "rosa pallido perlato" ma direi che all'interno ha dei veri e propri glitter, più che una perlescenza. È appunto un rosa pallido, pastello, ma una volta sulla palpebra la base si trasforma in un velato tocco di colore quasi bianco.
La base poi è sheer, sì, ma piena zeppa di glitter dorati (e anche di qualche glitter rosa acceso sparso qua e là).
There are however mainly two things I loathe when it comes to make up: bleeding lipstick and lipgloss and glitter eyeshadow fall out. I don't mind some glitter on my lids from time to time but, indeed, on my eyelid and not on my face.
And, ladies, I'm so sorry to say that but we're in the presence of a fall out city.
I tried to use this paint pot in different ways in order to make it stay put but none has fully worked.
Ci sono però principalmente due cose che detesto profondamente in merito al makeup: i rossetti e i lipgloss che sbavano e gli ombretti glitter coi fallout (ovvero le cadute di glitter svolazzanti). Non mi dispiacciono un po' di glitter sugli occhi di tanto in tanto ma, appunto, sulle palpebre e non sul viso.
E, ragazze, qua mi spiace davvero dirlo ma siamo al cospetto di un gran produttore di fallout.
Ho provato ad usare questo paint pot in modi differenti per cercare di farlo restare ben saldo, ma nessun metodo ha funzionato del tutto.
I tried to apply it with fingertips, as paint pots are for me "swipe & go" products for those days I'm in a hurry (which happens quite often actually) and don't have time to bother with brushes and such. It didn't work. While applying, many glittery particles fell off.
So I tried to carefully pat it on the lid rather than swipe it on. It worked at first but within an hour I could see some sparkles on my cheeks as well.
I tried to pat it on with a tiny concealer brush and while the result looked fine at first, it turned into a big fail within 5/6 hours. The brush deposits much product which translates in loads of glitter and in a quite uneven application. But the problem is that after a few hours however glitters collected badly on the outer corner of my eye making me look like a go-go dancer in disguise...
Then I thought to set the paint pot with an eyeshadow and use it as a base for a proper eye makeup - it'd be a shame covering up the beautiful glitter reflecfts but extreme situations call for extreme measures.
But no, it didn't work. This paint pot doesn't really love the blending motion of a brush.
The result was glitter all over the place.
But I didn't give up and tried again, this time using my trusty Too Faced Shadow Insurance underneath. That improves the situation a bit but after a few hours, here they are again: fall outs.
Did I throw it out the window after that? Nope. I tried again another combo: Too Faced primer underneath and a generous spritz of MAC Fix+ all over the eyelid.
Again, the situation wasn't as bad as Let's Skate applied alone, but after 4-5 hours I noticed some sparkles under my eyes and on the cheeks. The fall out in this case was minor, but it occurred anyway - and for those who hate glitter on the face, like myself, that's annoying.
I should try to apply it over a glitter glue but I don't have any and in all honesty I don't think I'll buy one just for a paint pot. Especially given the price: sorry Mac, but this product doesn't worth the 20€ (aka 26$!) price tag, in my opinion.
Ho provato ad applicarlo con le dita, visto che i paint pot per me sono prodotti da "una passata e via" per quei giorni in cui sono in ritardo (il che succede abbastanza spesso a dir il vero) e non ho tempo di preoccuparmi di pennelli e simili. Così non ha funzionato. Durante l'applicazione molti glitter già cadevano.
Ho quindi provato a pressarlo con attenzione sulla palpebra, piuttosto che applicarlo facendo strisciare il dito. All'inizio ha funzionato ma entro un'ora già iniziavo a vedere dei luccichii sulla guancia.
Ho allora provato a pressarlo con un piccolo pennello da correttore e, mentre il risultato appariva accettabile all'inizio, si è trasformato poi in un grandissimo fail nel giro di 5/6 ore. Il pennello deposita infatti molto prodotto, che si traduce in ondate di glitter e in un'applicazione poco omogenea. Ma il problema maggiore è che dopo poche ore i glitter si sono raccolti in modo davvero tremendo nell'angolo esterno dell'occhio facendomi sembrare una cubista sotto mentite spoglie...
Dopo ho pensato di fissare il paint pot con dell'ombretto e di creare un vero e proprio trucco occhi usandolo come base - sarebbe un peccato coprire i bellissimi riflessi glitterati che ha ma a mali estremi, estremi rimedi.
Ma no, manco questo ha funzionato, anzi! Questo paint pot decisamente non ama il movimento rotatorio del pennello. Il risultato è stato una disfatta: glitter sparsi ovunque per il mio contorno occhi e fin sulla guancia.
Ma non mi sono data per vinta ed ho provato ancora, questa volta usando la mia fedele Too Faced Shadow Insurance al di sotto. Ciò ha migliorato di un po' la situazione ma dopo poche ore, eccoli di nuovo: fallout.
Ho forse a quel punto preso il paint pot e l'ho lanciato dalla finestra come un giavellotto? Ebbene, no.
Ho tentato ancora un'altra combinazione: il primer Too Faced al di sotto e una generosa spruzzata del Fix+ di MAC su tutta la palpebra.
Ancora, la situazione non era tremenda come quando Let's Skate è applicato da solo, ma dopo 4-5 ore ho notato dei luccichii sotto gli occhi e sulle guance. Il fallout in questo caso è stato minimo, ma c'è comunque stato - e per chi odia i glitter sparsi per il viso, come la sottoscritta, la cosa è spiacevole.
Dovrei provare ad applicarlo sopra una colla per glitter ma non ne ho nessuna e in tuttà sincerità non credo l'acquisterò solo per un paint pot. Soprattutto dato il prezzo: mi spiace Mac, ma questo prodotto non vale i quasi 20€ che costa, a mio parere.
The good is that it seems to me the longevity (of the base itself) has been actually improved: while regular paint pots usually last 2 to 3 hours on me before creasing, Let's Skate wears up to 4-5 hours before doing so. However, I can't consider it 'prolongwearing': the color base doesn't crease badly, of course, but the fall out doesn't make anyway the whole thing longwearing.
I'm quite disappointed this time. Let's Skate creates an amazing effect on the eyes and it sparkles without being too much. It's a shame the quality leaves much to be desired.
I have another glittery paint pot from an old collection but never had such issues.
I know there's plenty of people loving this specific paint pot and I'm surprised that nobody seems to have glitter migrations like I did. I guess it's a matter of luck(?)...

Di buono c'è che mi sembra che la durata (della base stessa) sia stata effettivamente migliorata: se i paint pot tradizionali di norma durano su di me dalle 2 alle 3 ore prima di iniziare a migrare nelle pieghe della palpebra, Let's Skate arriva anche a 4-5 ore prima di farlo. Tuttavia, non riesco a considerarlo 'pro-longwearing': il colore di base non migra in malo modo, okay, ma il fall out non rende comunque l'intero prodotto durevole (o longwearing, per mantenere lo stesso gioco di parole).
Stavolta sono un po' delusa. Let's Skate crea sugli occhi un bellissimo effetto e brilla ma senza risultare molesto. È un peccato che la qualità lasci molto a desiderare.
Avevo già un altro paint pot glitterato, proveniente da una vecchia collezione, ma non mi ha mai causato tali problemi.So inoltre che è pieno di persone che amano questo specifico paint pot e ammetto di essere sorpresa del fatto che nessuno sembra aver migrazioni di glitter come ho invece avuto io. Immagino sia una questione di fortuna(?)...

It was quite an odissey but we finally made it! If you tried to order from Illamasqua website during the (can I say amazing?) 50% off sale you know what I mean. Not to mention that the offer could be combined with the 10% loyalty discount for a total 60% off (who could resist? Not me).
Their server couldn't handle the crazy rush, obviously, and that complicated the all process. However, after only a couple of tries, I maneged to place my order. But the part that took more patience came next: after 10 days my order wasn't despatched yet and I had no clue what was going on. I do love Illamasqua, the philosophy behind the brand and many of their products, but god knows if the customer service takes ages to reply to emails.
(by the way, I suppose the delay was because they were awaiting a new stock of the cream pigment I picked up).
Nonetheless, the black box arrived safely at my doorstep after 5-6 days and here is what I end up buying - I warn you, the situation went a bit out of hand in the name of the "when will I ever get a another chance like this" philosophy.

Senza tralasciare il fatto che l'offerta era addirittura cumulabile con lo sconto fedeltà del 10% per una riduzione totale del 60% (voglio dire, chi poteva resistere? Non io di certo). Il loro server non riusciva a sostenere la corsa all'acquisto, ovviamente, e ciò ha complicato alquanto le cose ma alla fine, dopo giusto un paio di tentativi, sono riuscita a piazzare il mio ordine. Epperò la parte che ha richiesto parecchia pazienza è arrivata dopo: passati 10 giorni infatti il mio ordine non era ancora stato spedito e non avevo idea di cosa stesse accadendo. Perché, devo dirlo, io adoro Illamasqua eh, adoro la filosofia che sta dietro al marchio e gran parte dei loro prodotti ma santapazienza dio solo sa se il servizio clienti impiega anni a rispondere alle email. (suppongo comunque che il ritardo fosse dovuto all'attesa di un nuovo stock del pigmento in crema che avevo scelto). Nonostante tutto però il pacchetto nero è arrivato sano e salvo bussando alla mia porta dopo 5-6 giorni e qui c'è tutto ciò che ho alla fine acquistato - avviso che la situazione mi è sfuggita un po' di mano in nome della filosofia "ma quando mai mi ricapita uno scontone simile".

Actually at the top of my Illamasqua wishlist there are (or were) Eurydice lipstick (check!), Promise cream blush and above all the Hydra Veil but the latter were unfortunately out of stock, so I thought to get a new blush brush instead.
Obviously I'm not ready yet for reviews but let me know if something caught your attention and you'd like to read a review about it as in this case I may give priority to that. :)
Chiedo venia per le sditazzate su ogni prodotto ma inizialmente un post simile non l'avevo previsto e avevo già iniziato a provare tutto (sia mai che lasci qualcosa di nuovo e intonso per più di 10 minuti). In realtà ai primi posti della mia wishlist Illamasqua ci sono (o c'erano) il rossetto Eurydice (célo!), il blush in crema Promise e soprattutto l'Hydra Veil ma purtroppo gli ultimi erano esauriti, così ho pensato di utilizzare il budget rimasto per prendere un nuovo pennello da blush. Ovviamente non sono ancora pronta per una review ma fatemi sapere se c'è qualcosa che vi ha colpito in particolare e di cui magari vi piacerebbe leggere qualcosa in merito, magari posso dare priorità a quello. :)
PS: la spedizione da Illamasqua costa 9.00£ ma è gratis per ordini di almeno 50£. Il servizio usato è Royal Mail ed è tracciabile. Se ordinate smalti o profumi il prezzo sale però a 15£ perché passa tutto in mano ad un corriere espresso ed in quel caso la spedizione si paga sempre, indipendentemente dall'ammontare dell'ordine.
