About two weeks ago I ordered a gift set from Lush since it was at half the price. I posted some reviews about Lush only days ago but today I wanna tell you (again) my opinion about some more products, before they will be sold out everywhere.
I find the best Lush gift sets are usually rather expensive so I couldn't resist a sale of 50% off and I ended up picking the From the North Pole gift set.
Who can resist a glittery box reminiscent of a candy cane and full of Lush goodies? Not me.
The box contains North Pole soap, Sandy Santa sugar scrub, Bubblebeard reusable bubble bar, Santa's Sack bubble bar, Father Christmas and So White bath bombs.
Circa un paio di settimane fa ho ordinato uno dei set regalo natalizi di Lush che stava (sta) a metà prezzo. Ho già pubblicato delle review su Lush poco tempo fa ma dal momento che il set è ancora disponibile sul sito internet ho pensato di dire in fretta la mia anche su questi prodotti, prima che vadano sold out e ci salutino fino al prossimo anno.
Di norma le confezioni regalo di Lush le trovo piuttosto esose e non sempre forniscono tutto questo risparmio rispetto all'acquisto dei prodotti sfusi, ma col 50% è tutta un'altra storia e, in caso non l'abbiate ancora fatto, vi consiglio di dare un'occhiata a ciò che è rimasto.
Quindi, dicevo, lo sconto del 50% era parecchio allettante, così come la confezione, e alla fine mi sono portata a casa il set Tu mi fai girar - dalla scatola glitterata che ricorda un candy cane a cui, voglio dire, come si fa a dire di no.
Il set è composto dal sapone Io e Te, il grattino (parentesi: i nomi di Lush da esaltati talvolta mi imbarazzano un attimo) Babbao Meravigliao, lo spumante che dura Bagno a Sbaffo, lo spumante Un Sacco di Bagni, le ballistiche Faccia di Babbo e Palla di Neve (il prezzo in saldo è di 23€).

North Pole Soap
However, I kinda like the North Pole and honestly I also prefer it over Snowcake [reviewed here]. For me this is as hydrating as Snowcake but I like the scent better: it has some minty notes but it's sweet and not too refreshing at the same time. It makes me think of peppermint candy canes.
It's not something I'd repurchased neither do I rave about it around the world, but it's nice to have though.
Da noi, Io e Te.
Come avevo già accennato qui, non sono la più grande amante dei saponi solidi.
Però Io e Te non mi dispiace e onestamente lo preferisco pure a Biancaneve [review qui]. Per me non è né più né meno indratante di Biancaneve ma ne preferisco la profumazione: ha delle note un po' fresche di menta ma allo stesso è dolce e non eccessivamente mentolato; in un certo senso mi ricorda dei candy cane alla menta. Non è un qualcosa che ricomprerei sfuso né che mi fa decantarne lodi in lungo e in largo per il globo terracqueo, ma tutto sommato mi fa piacere averlo.
Sandy Santa sugar scrub
This is the product I was less excited about, however after tried it just once I unexpectedly started to adore it and it's the product of the set I've been liking the most so far. I heard Lush Sugar Scrub is very rough and almost scratchy but it's not the case of Sandy Santa, which surprised me for how crumbly it is. So I broke off a chunk, put away the rest of the poor Santa's head and rubbed the piece in my hands under running water. It melted easily and achieved the right consistency. It leaves the skin soft but doesn't give any hydration boost for me - it's just a scrub after all.
Last but not least, the smell is so good as it has rosewood, sandalwood and orange oil in it: I can't detect every single note but the blend reminds me of jasmine flowers. I wish Lush had other products with the exact same heavenly scent (let's make a plea: please, Lush, do some!)
Note: I recommend to take with you in the shower only a chunk of Sandy Santa instead of the whole piece, otherwise it will melt and you might end up wasting it in just a single application instead of using it 5-6 times.
In Italia, Babbao Meravigliao.
Questo è il prodotto che meno mi incuriosiva testare eppure, dopo averlo provato già solo una volta, mi sono ritrovata inaspettatamente ad adorarlo ed è il prodotto del set che finora mi sta piacendo di più.
Avevo sentito che i 'grattini' (Lush, posso prendermi la licenza poetica di chiamarlo scrub solido? Occhèi?) sono particolarmente ruvidi e tendono persino a graffiare ma non è davvero il caso di questa versione invernale che, anzi, mi ha sorpresa per quanto facilmente si sgretola. Ne ho quindi prelevato un piccolo pezzo, ho riposto il resto della testa di Babbo Natale (porello) ed ho strofinato il pezzo di scrub tra le mani, sotto l'acqua. Una volta che inizia a sciogliersi diventa subito della giusta consistenza, non troppo ruvida. Infine, lascia la pelle abbastanza morbida, anche se non trovo abbia proprietà così idratanti ma non gliene faccio un difetto, del resto è solo uno scrub.
Last but not least, il profumo per me è spettacolare: contiene olio di palissandro, legno di sandalo e d'arancio e al mio naso tutto questo mix ricorda il gelsomino, ma il profumo del fiore reale, non una fragranza sintetica. Magari Lush creasse altri prodotti con questa fragranza...(e qui lancio un appello, signori della Lush!).
Nota: consiglio di portarsi in doccia solo un pezzo di Babbo Natale, anziché l'intero scrub; rischierebbe solo di sciogliersi e di essere sprecato per un unico utilizzo anziché 5-6.
Bubblebeard reusable bubble bar
Due to the rather high (euro) prices of most Lush products, I do like the concept of reusable bubble bars; furthermore, the shape of Bubblebeard is funny, it also smells of lavender (that's a scent I simply adore) and I was just curious to try it out. However the first time I used it I wasn't impressed at all: the foam was inconsistent, despite having used a lot of product, and didn't cover the whole surface of the water. Then, I realized that maybe I had used it in the wrong way: I had run it for a few seconds under the tap when the tub was almost full and, above all, I had swished it again and again round the tub (that's what Lush recommends but I do not completely agree as you need a lot of product for nothing).
So I tried it again in a different way: I turned on the tap and placed the bubble bar under it right away, then swished it in the bathtub 2-3 times as well. And in the pics you can see the result.
To create a good amount of bubble, you only need to run it under running water just for a minute or so - I've used it 3 times and I have more than half bubble bar left and I think it will last me for a total of 10 baths or so. Considering the price, it's not a bad value after all.
Bubblebeard smells of lavender with a hint of sandalwood and neroli, but the overall scent is very light - Twilight shower gel is much stronger though.
Che da Lush Italia diventa, Bagno a Sbaffo.
Visti i prezzi non propriamente bassi della maggior parte dei prodotti Lush, mi piace parecchio l'idea degli spumanti riutilizzabili; in più la forma di questo è anche insolita e odora di lavanda (che, come ormai sapranno fino su Marte, io adoro). Insomma, tutti dettagli che mi incuriosivano a provare Bagno a sbaffo.
Tuttavia la prima volta che l'ho usato non ne sono rimasta per nulla convinta: la schiuma era poca - nonostante avessi usato una vagonata di prodotto - era inconsistente e non ricopriva l'intera superficie della vasca. Dopo ho però realizzato che forse lo stavo utilizzando nel modo sbagliato: l'avevo sì messo sotto l'acqua corrente del rubinetto ma solo per pochi secondi, quando la vasca era ormai quasi piena, ma soprattutto l'ho girato e rigirato nell'acqua, più e più volte (che è poi il consiglio dato da Lush, su cui io non concordo un granché visto che si consuma molto prodotto per nulla o quasi).
Così ci ho riprovato in un modo differente: ho aperto il rubinetto ed ho messo subito lo spumante sotto il getto per circa un minuto, dopodiché l'ho fatto girare un paio di volte in quella poca acqua che nel frattempo s'era raccolta nella vasca. Nella foto potete vedere il risultato.
Per creare una buona quantità di schiuma basta tenere il bastoncino sotto l'acqua corrente anche solo per un minuto, consumando davvero poco 'spumante' - ormai l'ho utilizzato tre volte ed ho ancora molto più di metà prodotto e credo che ad occhio e croce potrebbe durarmi anche fino a 10 bagni.
A prezzo pieno è abbastanza caro (9.95€) anche se considerando tutti i bagni che si riescono a fare non è male come rapporto prezzo/durata (aka circa 1€ a bagno). Ora che sta invece in saldo a 4.50€ mi sento anche di dirvi che potete dargli una chance.
Bagno a sbaffo odora di lavanda, con accenni di legno di sandalo e neroli, ma la profumazione d'insieme è comunque molto leggera - nulla a che vedere col gel doccia Twilight, che ha un odore di lavanda molto più intenso e deciso (anche se io preferisco quest'ultimo).
