Dotted Around

I'm an avid reader of beauty blogs, quite obviously, and among my favorite posts there are the comparative ones. Whether it's a foundation compared to another or a color swatched against a similar one, those posts always give me a better idea on specific products or shades, if it's worth to buy that new lipstick or if it's better to save some money because I already own something too similar. Since I have to buy online and sight unseen most of my makeup, such posts are really money savers for me.

That being said, I also like browsing counters at Sephora, Kiko, Douglas, *insert random beauty shops here* and swatch tons of products to find out possible dupes in my arsenal - when your stash grows every year more, not to buy similar products isn't always easy.
So yesterday during a window shopping (and swatching) session I told myself: I have the swatches, I have the photos, I have the product names, why not to begin a swatches on the go blog post serie?
The pictures in these posts won't be high quality as I'll take them with iPhone and not with my Canon, but the white balance is quite good anyway (good job lil' iPhone, good job).

Sono un'accanita lettrice di beauty blog, cosa abbastanza scontata, e tra i miei post preferiti ci sono sicuramente quelli comparativi. Che si tratti un fondotinta confrontato con un altro o di un colore swatchato accanto ad uno similare, quei post mi permettono sempre di farmi un'idea abbastanza precisa su dei colori (o prodotti) in particolare, se vale la pena acquistare quel nuovo rossetto o se è meglio risparmiare un po' di pecunia dal momento che possiedo già qualcosa di troppo simile.
Dal momento che devo acquistare online la maggior parte del makeup - vuoi per l'assenza dei marchi, vuoi per le offerte che si trovano - post simili mi fanno risparmiare spesso soldi e fregature.
Ovviamente mi piace anche girare tra gli stand di Sephora, Kiko, Douglas *inserire un qualunque negozio di cosmetici a caso* e swatchare tonnellate di roba per trovare eventuali doppioni in mio possesso - quando il tuo arsenale cosmetico cresce ogni anno di più, non acquistare prodotti troppo simili tra loro non è sempre scontato.
E quindi ieri dopo una sessione di swatch selvaggio, come già anticipato su Facebook, mi sono detta: ho gli swatch, ho le foto, ho i nomi dei prodotti, perché non inizio una serie di post sul blog tipo swatches on the go?
Le immagini di questi post non avranno un'altissima qualità perché saranno fatte tutte con l'iPhone anziché con la solita fidata Canon, ma il bilanciamento del bianco devo dire che non è comunque male (bravo piccolo amico tecnologico, ottimo lavoro!).

I know it sounds very odd, but more often than not beauty blogs and online swatches give me a better idea of a shade than seeing it in person under the (terrible) artificial lighting of many shops. And Sephora is no exception.
NARS landed in Italy only a couple of months ago, so I was kind of excited to see in person all of those NARS products I've never dared to buy online - yet.
I went there with a handful of names on my wishlist but...it was a kind of disappointment. The arrangement and the lighting didn't the colors justice and pretty much nothing appealed to me - were it for Sephora, I'd probably not be the big fan of Nars I actually am.
Not to mention shimmer blushes and eyeshadows looked like discoballs in powder form - even if I own some and I know they're simply beautiful and wearable instead. Sigh.
So once I swatched the products I had on my list, I stepped outside in natural sunlight to see the actual colors.

So che suona davvero strano, ma il più delle volte i blog e gli swatch sul web riescono a fornirmi un'idea precisa su un determinato colore, persino migliore rispetto al vederlo di persona, sotto le luci (tremende) artificiali di molti negozi. E Sephora non fa eccezione.
Dopo l'arrivo di NARS in Italia, sono riuscita solo ieri per la prima volta ad andare a toccare con mano ed è inutile dire che ero curiosissima di vedere dal vivo tutti quei prodotti Nars che non mi ero azzardata ad ordinare online. Sono entrata con una manciata di nomi sulla mia wishlist mentale...ma è stata una mezza delusione. Lo stand e le luci non rendevano davvero giustizia ai colori e non c'era nulla che mi attraesse più di tanto, quasi si confondessero tra loro - fosse stato per Sephora insomma non sarei la fan di Nars che sono ora, diciamolo.
Senza contare che i prodotti shimmer sembravano delle palle da discoteca sottoforma di polvere - anche se ho alcuni di quei prodotti e so che in realtà risultano semplicemente stupendi e portabili. Sigh.
Quindi una volta swatchati i prodotti che mi interessavano da tempo, sono uscita fuori alla luce naturale per vedere i colori reali.

From the fall collection:
I was curious to see La Paz as it looked terrible in some swatches, beautiful and interesting in others. Unfortunately in person it looked just...awful, I'd dare say. The base is an interesting violet hue but the glitter, oh boy, definitely way too much for me. It's basically a matte violet packed with silver, chunky glitter. Not my type. The texture didn't feel as smooth as other Pure Matte's either.
Mysterious Red was instead as beautiful as I expected it to be: a matte, rich, true red. Bright but not neon and with slight cool undertones. NARS Velvet Matte pencils aren't my favorite products, but this one felt smooth, creamy and above all very pigmented. Unfortunately it is limited edition.

Ero molto curiosa di vedere La Paz dal momento che sembrava atroce in alcuni swatches ma bello e interessante in altri. Purtroppo di persona era...orribile, oserei dire. La base è una tonalità di viola interessante ma i glitter, oddio, sono decisamente troppi per me. Praticamente si tratta di un viola matte pieno zeppo di glitterazzi argentati. Decisamente non il mio genere. La texture inoltre non sembrava neppure scorrevole e omogenea come quella degli altri Pure Matte.
Mysterious Red era invece stupendo quanto mi aspettavo fosse: un rosso puro, vibrante e matte. Acceso ma non neon e con un sottotono un po' freddo. Le matite Velvet Matte di NARS non sono i miei prodotti preferiti, ma questo risultava omogeneo, cremoso al punto giusto e soprattutto molto pigmentato. Purtroppo è un'edizione limitata.

Luster blush

Luster is definitely among the blushes I've been using the most and I was curious to see how it compared with Madly. Well, I'm happy to say that I like Luster better. It leans more on the peachy side than Madly, which is a bit more brown. The finish is the same (shimmer). I wouldn't say it's worth to have them both.

Lusterè senza dubbio uno dei blush che sto usando di più ultimamente ed ero curiosa di vedere com'era rispetto a Madly. Ecco, sono lieta di annunciare che preferisco Luster. Ha una sfumatura pesca più marcata rispetto a Madly, che è un po' più marrone. Il finish è lo stesso (shimmer). Non direi che vale la pena averli entrambi.

Ruby Woo is similar to Mysterious Red. Perhaps too similar. It's a tiny bit brighter and bluer maybe and of course more matte (but does something more matte than Ruby Woo exist?) but I'm not sure it's worth buying MR when you already own MAC Ruby Woo. Which is also a blood relative of Vesuvio. However, the latter is not as bright and maybe it leans more on the cherry-red side. I should compare it with MAC Red too the next time.

Ruby Wooè simile a Mysterious Red. Forse anche troppo simile. È un pelo più brillante e un po' più freddo forse e ovviamente più matte (del resto esiste qualcosa che sia più matte di Ruby Woo?) ma non sono sicura che valga la pena acquistare MR se si possiede già Ruby Woo di MAC. Che è anche un parente di Vesuvio. Quest'ultimo però non è altrettanto acceso e mi sembra che viri un po' di più al color rosso ciliegia. La prossima volta dovrei confrontarlo anche con MAC Red.

Terre de Feu seems to me like a berry and a bit deeper version of Mascate. Mascate is a true, medium red, whereas Terre de feu has a different undertone, similar to MAC Diva - which in turn is a little darker though.
Speaking of berries, Valparaiso is a true berry color. It's been on my list for ages but I haven't dared to buy it sight unseen because of its peculiar hue. It's a cousin of MAC Rebel but not a dupe. Rebel, apart from a different finish, is not as deep and has a fuchsia component which Valparaiso lacks of.
Palais Royal is somewhat similar to Valparaiso but I see it deeper and more red perhaps.

Terre de Feu mi sembra una versione berry e un po' più cupa di Mascate. Mascate è un rosso medio, pieno, mentre Terre de feu possiede un sottotono differente, simile a Diva di MAC - che però è a sua volta leggermente più scuro.
Parlando di toni simil bacca, Valparaisoè proprio un color berry. È sulla mia lista mentale da un sacco di tempo ormai ma non mi ero mai azzardata ad acquistarlo a scatola chiusa a causa del suo tono particolare. È un cugino di Rebel di MAC ma non un dupe. Rebel, oltre ad un finish differente, essendo un Satin, è un po' meno cupo e possiede quella componente fucsia di cui è sprovvisto Valparaiso.
Palais Royalè in un certo senso simile a Valparaiso ma lo vedo più scuro, intenso e con una base più rossa forse.

So after this swatching session I took off from my wishlist Terre De Feu since it's too similar to Diva for my standard (after all I don't wear dark lipsticks that often to justify to own them both) and Mysterious Red. I love it and I think it's an outstanding shade but my conscience keeps telling me not to splash out money as I already have Ruby Woo. What is still on my wish-I-could-buy-them-all list are Mascate, Majella and Hyde Park. As for Valparaiso, I will probably ask the sale assistant to try it on the next time I stop by Sephora and see if it works on my complexion.

Dopo questa sessione di swatch ho tolto dalla mia lista dei desideri Terre de Feu, dal momento che è troppo simile a Diva per i miei standard (dopo tutto non indosso i rossetti cupi così spesso da doverli avere entrambi, per ora) e Mysterious Red. Lo adoro, mi piace moltissimo e penso sia una tonalità meravigliosa ma la mia coscienza continua a dirmi di non sperperare soldi visto che ho già Ruby Woo. Ciò che invece è ancora sulla mia lista li-potessi-acquistare-tutti è Mascate, Majella e Hyde Park. Per quanto riguarda Valparaiso, la prossima volta che mi fermerò da Sephora probabilmente chiederò al commesso di poterlo provare e vedrò se funziona sulla mia carnagione.

It all happened in a muggy summer afternoon when a voice in my head told me: "with all these tags going on in the beauty blogging world, why don't you do one yourself regarding your top 10 summer products?". Well, maybe the situation went a little out of hand since at first I didn't even notice I chose 11 items instead of 10. But still...let's pretend they were intentionally 10+1.
I picked 5(+1) makeup related items and 5 skincare, haircare, random products.

Tutto è successo in un afoso pomeriggio estivo, quando una voce nella mia testa mi ha detto: "con tutti questi tag che imperversano nel mondo dei beauty blog, perché non ne fai uno anche tu riguardante i tuoi 10 prodotti top per l'estate?". Ecco, forse la situazione mi è pure sfuggita un po' di mano visto che all'inizio non avevo neppure notato di aver scelto 11 prodotti anziché 10. Ma comunque...facciamo finta che fossero intenzionalmente 10+1 sin dall'inizio.
Ho selezionato 5(+1) cose inerenti al makeup e 5 riguardanti l'area capelli, pelle, random.

I'm a sucker for liquid base since my dry skin doesn't love mineral foundations too much and a lightweight one with high SPF is a must for me in summertime. I discovered this Guerlain Beauty Booster (I briefly talked about it here) a couple of months ago and I've been liking it a lot, I mean a lot. I like my summer base to be also fuss-free as with all this heat my laziness gets worse and I rarely feel like spending much time and efforts applying a foundation. And this one by Guerlain ticks this box too: I usually grab the Real Techniques Buffing brush or the Expert Face and quickly blend a pump of two of Beauty Booster.
I alternate this one with NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, which is another winning product.

Sono un'amante della base liquida, visto soprattutto che la mia pelle secca non ama particolarmente i fondotinta minerali, ed una che fornisca una sensazione di leggerezza e che contenga un fattore di protezione solare è sicuramente tra i miei prodotti-da-avere nel periodo estivo. Ho scoperto questa Beauty Booster di Guerlain (ne avevo parlato brevemente qui) un paio di mesi fa e mi sta piacendo molto, e intendo molto. Mi piace inoltre che la base estiva sia anche semplice da stendere, visto che con tutto questo caldo la mia pigrizia peggiora e raramente ho voglia di impiegare molto tempo nell'applicazione di un fondotinta. E questa di Guerlain rispetta pure tale criterio: di solito afferro il Buffing brush di Real Techniques o l'Expert Face e sfumo facilmente una o due dosi di Beauty Booster. A questa alterno il NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, che è un altro valido prodotto.

A red lipstick with such a warm base is a quite recent revelation in my (cosmetic) life. I didn't use to wear similar shades on the lips because I was sure they wouldn't suit me well. Oh well,I was wrong.
Actually it brightens up my face and it totally screams summer.

Un rossetto rosso con una base tanto calda è una rivelazione abbastanza recente nella mia vita (cosmetica). Non ero solita indossare toni simili sulle labbra perché ero sicura che mi sarebbero stati male. Vabbè, mi sa che avevo torto.
In realtà mi illumina il viso ed urla anche 'estate' a gran voce.

Oh, how I love this blush, especially in this time of the year...
I wouldn't recommend to buy it sight unseen for a cool skinned gal, but if your complexion is warm based and you don't mind your blush to have a sheen/shimmer, then I truly suggest to check it out. Luster is complex in its simplicity: it's of course a peachy tone but the golden sheen gives it a beautiful bronzed look that appears flattering on several warm skin tones, from the light to the medium ones. I absolutely love how it warms up my complexion mimicking that summer 'sun kissed' effect.

Quanto mi piace questo blush, soprattutto in questo periodo dell'anno...
Non consiglierei di acquistarlo a scatola chiusa per una ragazza dal sottotono freddo, ma se il vostro incarnato è a base calda e non vi dispiace che il vostro blush abbia una certa luminosità o degli shimmer (fini), vi suggerirei davvero di dargli un'occhiata.
Luster è complesso nella sua semplicità: è sì un tono pesca ma i finissimi shimmer dorati che contiene gli danno un aspetto a metà tra un blush ed un bronzer, che può donare comunque a molte carnagioni calde, da chiare a medie. Apprezzo moltissimo come scalda l'incarnato, mimando l'effetto estivo di una pelle 'baciata dal sole'.

I'm not a big bronzer user but I don't say no to a bit of colored powder. This is basically my go-to tinted powder (MAC Careblend) in a shade way deeper than my skin tone.
I like to apply it with an extremely light hand on those areas that are naturally hit by the sun, in order to warm up the face and give it a hint of color. However, its main purpose for me is to adjust the color of my regular foundation in those weeks I fake tan. A slight swipe all over the face with a big and fluffy brush, like the Real Techniques Multi Task, and I'm good to go, with face matching my body.

Non sono una gran utilizzatrice di bronzer ma non dico di no ad un po' di cipria colorata. Questa in pratica è la mia cipria colorata di sempre (la MAC Careblend) ma in una tonalità molto più scura del mio incarnato.
Mi piace applicarla con mano parecchio leggera - è una cipria, ma colora e si vede - su quelle aree che sono naturalmente colpite dal sole, in modo da riscaldare il viso ed avere un po' di colorito.
Il suo scopo numero uno però è per me quello di aggiustare il tono del mio solito fondotinta in quelle settimane di utilizzo frequente di autoabbronzante. Una leggera passata su tutto il viso con un pennello un po' grande e morbido, come il Multi Task di Real Techniques, e sono pronta per andare, col viso uniformato al resto del corpo.

With my skin being more normal than dry during summertime and also definitely brighter, I don't feel the need of a proper highlighter. I prefer instead applying those blushes with the finest shimmer or sheen that reflect light beautifully. Stereo Rose is possibly the best example in my stash.

Con la pelle più normale che secca nel periodo estivo ed anche decisamente più luminosa, non sento il bisogno di un illuminante vero e proprio. Preferisco piuttosto applicare quei blush con degli shimmer finissimi e luminosi, che riflettono la luce in modo esteticamente piacevole. E Stereo Rose è forse l'esempio migliore presente nel mio cassetto.

It's only recently that I started to get this product. I have a feeling that it does make my makeup last longer even in the heat. I've been using it almost every day as final step of my makeup routine, especially if the outside hot temperature is awaiting me. Not to mention that is also refreshing if stored in the fridge.

Ho iniziato a comprendere questo prodotto solo di recente. Ho come l'impressione che faccia effettivamente durare il makeup più a lungo, persino col caldo afoso. Lo sto usando quasi quotidianamente come step finale, soprattutto se fuori c'è una temperatura rovente che mi attende.
Senza tralasciare quanto sia anche rinfrescante se conservato in frigo.

I've lost count of how many times I've mentioned this cream here on the blog. I just love it, I can't help. Almost two years later now and it's still one of my favorite moisturizers ever. I don't know how it does, but works amazingly with my skin, it provides nourishment and hydration like a heavy body butter although it feels lightweight. My body skin is normal to dry and I like good and rich moisturizers, but when the summer heat gets unberable I rather applying something lightweight that doesn't make me sweat even more - here it comes Steamcream.
(by the way, can we talk about how pretty that London themed tin is?)

Ho perso il conto di quante volte ho menzionato questa crema qui sul blog e sulla pagina Facebook. È che mi piace proprio. Dopo quasi due anni ormai, la ritengo ancora tra le mie creme preferite di sempre. Non so come faccia, ma agisce splendidamente con la mia pelle, nutrendola e idratandola come un burro corpo nonostante la sensazione sia molto più leggera. La pelle del mio corpo è normale-barra-secca e mi piace usare degli idratanti ricchi e corposi, ma quando il caldo estivo raggiunge punte insopportabili preferisco applicare qualcosa di più leggero, che non mi faccia sudare ancor di più - e qui arriva la Steamcream.

I'm naturally quite pale and I don't even mind that, but in the summer I prefer to have some color in order to make me look alive. Since I haven't gone to the beach in years and I'm not even fond of lying under the sun for hours, fake tanning is the answer for me.
You'll probably already know that, but I do like this one by St Tropez. It develops in a natural, golden color that's not too dark. However, I'm testing out the Dark version in these day and so far it seems just as good as the regular one.

Sono abbastanza pallida di natura e non mi dispiace neppure, ma in estate preferisco avere un po' di colorito per sembrare più viva. Visto che non vado al mare da anni e che non sono un'amante del restare ore sotto il sole, la risposta per me è l'autoabbronzante.
Ormai è probabile lo sappiate già, ma questa di St Tropez mi piace parecchio. Sviluppa un tono naturale, dorato, che non risulta troppo scuro. In questi giorni sto comunque testando anche la versione Dark e finora devo dire che mi pare altrettanto valida.

Like they say: 'old but gold'. I started to wear this perfume back in the days when I was in high school and I repurchased the 50ml bottle twice. After some years of other fragrances I got back to one of my all time favorite sweet scents. It is sweet of course, but not sickly, it's sparkling and somewhat fruity.

Come dicono in inglese: 'old but gold'. Ho iniziato ad usare questo profumo quando andavo ancora al liceo ed ho ricomprato la boccetta da 50ml già due volte. Dopo anni di fragranze diverse sono tornata ad uno dei miei profumi dolci preferiti. È dolce, vero, ma non nauseante. Ha piuttosto una vena frizzante e in qualche modo fruttata.

I always blow dry my hair with a diffuser in order to enhance waves and curls but not in the summer. When it's 40°C outside - like 10 days ago - I don't enjoy to have hot air blowing on me for half an hour, so I prefer to put on my hair a product that can be air dried. Even better if this product manages to give me wavy, volumized and texturized hair, like the Bumbe & Bumble Surf Spray.

Asciugo sempre i capelli col phon abbinato ad un diffusore per amplificare le onde ed i ricci, ma non in estate. Quando fuori ci sono 40°, come fino a 10 giorni fa, avere dell'aria bollente sparata addosso per mezz'ora non è il divertimento più esilarante. Da qui, la mia preferenza per quei prodotti per lo styling che rendono anche se asciugati all'aria. Ancor meglio poi se questi prodotti riescono a darmi dei capelli mossi, voluminosi e texturizzati (possibile neologismo!), come il Surf Spray di Bumble&Bumble.

There was a time I used to think serums weren't an essential step for my skincare routine and despite having tried some samples and travel sizes I hadn't bought any, until this summer. Now I fully understand why many people love them and I've ended up using this one by REN on a daily basis.
This serum has been a godsend in those steamy hot days - and for my skin in general too. It manages to keep my skin perfectly hydrating without feeling heavy and because of that I've even put my moisturizer aside for the moment.

Un tempo credevo che i sieri non fossero un passaggio necessario nella mia routine e nonostante avessi provato vari sample e travel size non ne avevo mai comprato nessuno, fino a quest'estate. Ora invece capisco in pieno perché molte persone li amano e sono finita con l'usare questo di REN quotidianamente. Questo siero è stato una manna per quei giorni di caldo incredibile - ed anche per la mia pelle in generale. Riesce a mantenerla perfettamente idratata senza essere pesante, tanto che per il momento ho messo da parte persino la crema.

In March I placed an order on Illamasqua website and it took quite a while for it to arrive.
However a week later I unexpectedly received a second black parcel. Sender? Illamasqua.
Long story short, they sent me the order twice by mistake. So I contacted the customer service asking what I should have done with it and they replied that I could keep the items for free, as a special thank for the honesty and as a sorry for the delayed order.
After thanking them a lot, the first thought crossing my mind was: "I'll be give them to my readers!"
This ramble is just to say that I received these items free of charge, but that there's no affiliation between me and the brand, which doesn't even know I run a blog.

In marzo avevo fatto un ordine sul sito Illamasqua che aveva impiegato parecchio per giungere a destinazione. Una settimana dopo, però, ho inaspettatamente ricevuto un secondo pacco nero. Mittente? Illamasqua.
Per riassumere, mi hanno inviato lo stesso ordine due volte, per sbaglio. Ho quindi contattato il loro servizio clienti per chiedere cosa avrei dovuto fare (rispedisco e mi rimborsano la spedizione? Here is another episode of swatches on-the-go post serie and this time it's all about Chanel.
Today I stopped by the counter to exchange a birthday gift (it's a long story that's not rude as it may sound) and I spot some new arrivals: the Chanel fall collection had just been unpacked and the new cream blushes appeared brand new as well - I couldn't not to give them a kick off.

E rieccoci con un altro episodio della serie swatches on-the-go, questa volta completamente incentrato su Chanel. Oggi mi sono fermata un attimo in profumeria per cambiare un regalo di compleanno (è una lunga storia ma giuro che non è scortese come può sembrare) ed ho adocchiato alcune novità: la collezione autunnale di Chanel era appena stata sconfezionata ed anche i nuovi blush in crema sembravano freschi d'esposizione - non potevo esimermi dall'inaugurarne metà, ancora intonsi.

My super very first impression is rather good. They felt very rich in pigmentation - n°64 excepted - and what you see in the pics is just one swipe each - again, except for n°64 which I had to pile on a bit.
They applied smoothly and evenly and seem to have a good lasting power too since my hand is still stained now as I'm writing, despite having rubbed the swatches off with water.
Obviously I haven't had the chance to try them on so take my words with a pich of salt.
In the pan they felt slightly more creamy than MAC Cremeblend blush but less creamy than an Illamasqua cream blush and they deliver a cream-to-powder finish.
n°61 Destiny - officially described as "golden beige" it looks like a warm based brown with a hint of peach to me.
n°62 Prèsage - Chanel describes it as "apricot" and it really is. A bright, warm apricot.
n° 63 Revelation - is a warm based soft pink. The official description calls it "shimmering" but I couldn't spot any shimmer at all. I'd say it's matte actually.
n° 64 Inspiration - is a "soft blue pink" according to Chanel and to me as well. It was the lightest of the bunch in terms of tone and the only one I had to built up in order to get true-to-pan color.
n°65 Affinité - described as "intense blue pink", it's a sort or bright, bubble gum pink, less cool than Inspiration though.
n°66 Fantastic- Chanel describes it as "burgundy" but I find it to be more of a darkened fuchsia with a red base. It's a tone quite hard to capture in photo.

Oh well, I wish I'd never swatched the n°66 because it jumped on my wishlist.
By the way, according to US Chanel website, n°62, 64 and 66 are limited edition shades.

La mia super primissima(-issima) impressione è piuttosto buona. Apparivano davvero ricchi nella pigmentazione - eccetto il n°64 - e ciò che vedete nelle foto è una sola passata per ognuno - ancora, tranne per il 64 con cui ho dovuto fare 2-3 passate.
L'applicazione mi sembrava scorrevole ed omogenea e sembrano anche avere una buona durata: la mia mano è ancora macchiata in questo momento in cui sto scrivendo, nonostante abbia cercando di strofinarli via con dell'acqua. Ovviamente non ho avuto occasione di provarli addosso e di conseguenza prendete le mie parole con delle enormi pinze.
In quanto a consistenza sembravano un po' più cremosi dei Cremeblend blush di MAC ma molto meno cremosi dei Cream blush Illamasqua ed il finish che vanno a ricreare è cream-to-powder (come si dice in italiano? 'Ciao sono un blush in crema ma applicato non ti lucido il viso e sembro un prodotto in polvere'? Chiamiamolo così).
n°61 Destiny - ufficialmente descritto come un "beige dorato", a me sembra più un marrone caldo con una punta di pesca.
n°62 Prèsage - Chanel lo descrive come "pesca" ed è davvero così. Un color pesca intenso e acceso.
n° 63 Revelation - è un rosa a base calda. La descrizione ufficiale lo definisce "shimmer" ma in realtà di shimmer non ne ho visti davvero. Anzi, lo definirei matte.
n° 64 Inspiration - è un "rosa freddo e soft" secondo Chanel ed anche secondo me. Era il tono più chiaro di tutti ed anche l'unico che ho dovuto costruire un po' per ottenere lo stesso colore che appare nella confezione.
n°65 Affinité - descritto come "rosa freddo intenso" è una sorta di rosa big babol, acceso e meno freddo di Inspiration.
n°66 Fantastic - Chanel lo descrive come "bordeaux" ma trovo sia più un fucsia scuro con una spiccata base rosso; è un tono abbastanza difficile da cogliere in foto.

E beh, ecco, un po' vorrei non aver mai swatchato il n°66 perché è prepontentemente saltato sulla mia lista dei desideri.
Tra l'altro, stando al sito ufficiale americano di Chanel, il n°62, 64 e 66 sono edizioni limitate.

As for the new nail polish colors...

These are part of the new Fall collection and only Alchimie is limited edition, the other two will be added to Chanel's core line.
Alchimie resembled the famous Chanel Peridot, or better say, a cousin of Peridot. It's a golden base with green hues but unlike Peridot the shimmer is much finer and lacks the duochrome effect. It looked quite sheer and I think three coats might be needed.
Mysterious is described by Chanel as "deep khaki" and I can't think of a better description.
Despite being called "milky pink", Elixir is instead a sort of strawberry pink to me.
Better swatches and a proper review of Elixir have to come since it's the one that has come home with me.

Questi fanno parte della collezione autunnale e solo Alchimie è un'edizione limitata, le altre due saranno aggiunte alla linea permanente di Chanel.
Alchimie ricordava il famoso Chanel Peridot, o per meglio dire, un cugino di Peridot. È una base dorata con sfumature verdi ma, a differenza di Peridot, gli shimmer sono molto più fini e manca dell'effetto duochrome. Sembrava abbastanza sheer a credo che potrebbe aver bisogno di 3 passate.
Mysteriousè definito da Chanel "color khaki intenso" e non saprei davvero come altrimenti descriverlo.
Nonostante venga chiamano "rosa lattiginoso", Elixirè invece un rosso fragola, a mio avviso.
Degli swatch migliori ed una recensione di Elixir arriveranno prima o poi, visto che è quello che è venuto a casa con me.

C'è qualcosa che chiama il vostro nome? Non lasciatemi a sbavare da sola su cotanta beltade ;)

My first Illamasqua cream blush was Betray - now discontinued - and I happened to get my hands on it last year, thanks to the great promotions Illamasqua always offers in Christmas time. Long story short, it was sent to me as a 'gift with purchase'. Despite my initial puzzlement about the shade, I ended up falling in love with it, with its color but also with its formula. So it's no surprise that a few months later I took advantage of another special offer on Illamasqua online boutique and got a second cream blush, the famous Zygomatic.

Il mio primo blush in crema di Illamasqua è stato Betray - ora fuori produzione - e mi è capitato di metterci le mani sopra lo scorso anno, grazie alle mega promozioni che Illamasqua offre sempre nel periodo natalizio. Per farla breve, me lo sono ritrovata inviato come "omaggio all'acquisto". Nonostante le mie perplessità iniziali in merito alla tonalità, sono finita con l'apprezzarlo moltissimo, sia come colore che come formula. Non è una gran sorpresa quindi che qualche mese dopo io abbia approfittato di un'altra offerta speciale sul sito Illamasqua e abbia preso un secondo blush in crema, questa volta il famoso Zygomatic.

Formula-wise, it's the same of Betray, which leads me to think Illamasqua cream blushers are rather consistent in terms of texture and quality.
Zygomatic is one of those blushes with a very creamy consistency: it has a certain slip to it but it's not tacky. Which translates into a super easy application. It's a pleasure to blend, whether you want to use a brush or your fingertips, and because of that it doesn't ruin your freshly applied foundation.
I prefer to use the Real Techniques Expert Face brush, but the fingertips would work well too.

However, if you want your makeup to be matte, keep in mind this blush maintains the creamy, dewy finish throughout the day.
At this point one might think "great, so it will disappear with the speed of light" but I have good news: it does not! Speaking of lasting power, Zygomatic survives 5-6 hours on me (with dry skin type), which is a fair time span for a creamy product.
Between Zygomatic and Betray, the latter lasts way longer and it's also one the most longwearing blushes I've tried actually, but the red pigments in it make the job easier after all.

Per quanto riguarda la formula, questa è la stessa di Betray, il che mi porta a pensare che la texture e la qualità dei 'cream blusher' Illamasqua resti più o meno invariata, indipendentemente dal colore scelto.
Zygomatic è uno di quei blush dalla consistenza molto cremosa: è particolarmente scorrevole e non appiccicoso, cosa che si traduce in un'applicazione davvero facile. È un piacere da sfumare, sia che si utilizzino un pennello o le dita, e per questa sua caratteristica non rovina l'eventuale fondotinta fresco d'applicazione.
Io preferisco usare l'Expert Face brush di Real Techniques, ma anche i polpastrelli funzionerebbero comunque bene.

Se però volete che il vostro makeup sia matte, occhio che questo blush mantiene il suo finish cremoso e un po' lucido durante tutto il resto della giornata.
A questo punto uno potrebbe pensare "grandioso, quindi scomparirà alla velocità della luce" ma ho una buona notizia: ebbene, non lo fa! Parlando di durata, Zygomatic su di me (tipologia di pelle: secca) sopravvive infatti a 5-6 ore, che è un buon lasso di tempo per un prodotto cremoso.
Tra Zygomatic e Betray, quest'ultimo dura molto di più ed è anche uno dei blush più duraturi che abbia provato, se vogliamo dirla tutta, ma dopo tutto i pigmenti rossi al suo interno semplificano il lavoro.

As for the name, man, it really is spot on. This blush is indeed a zyg-o-matic (ha-ha, get it? zygome-o-matic. Okay I'll stop it - luckily I don't aspire to a comic actor career, pheew) as it emphasizes my cheekbones and make them "pop", in a sense. I rarely contour my face since I'm still trying to find a way to sculpt without it looking thinner than it normally is, nonetheless I can see Zygomatic working extremely well on many if paired with a good countouring. What I picture in my mind is like: Zygomatic + contouring = cheeckbones à la Angelina Jolie.
Or you can also skip contouring and apply Zygomatic slightly below your natural cheekbones in order to create a sculpted effect. However, we're in front of a pink blush and not of a brown one. I wanna stress this point as the official (brown) swatch and description ("naked pink brown") may lead in the wrong direction, whereas Zygomatic is a nice pink that gives a healthy flush of color to the cheeks instead. You know, that "this is not makeup and I'm just naturally blushing" kinda look.

Ma apriamo una parentesi anche sul nome perché oh, è davvero azzeccato. Questo blush è davvero - battuta tristissima a ore dodici - uno zyg-o-matic (ah-ah cherridere, capìta? zigomo-o-matic. Vabè la smetto - e meno male rigà che non aspiro ad una carriera da attrice comica) dal momento che evidenzia gli zigomi o li crea proprio, a seconda. Io mi do raramente al contouring perché sto ancora cercando un modo di scolpire il viso senza farlo sembrare ancora più magro di quanto già non sia, ma al di là di questo, credo che Zygomatic possa funzionare a meraviglia se abbinato ad un buon contouring. Ciò che mi immagino mentalmente è tipo: Zygomatic+contouring=zigomi à la Angelina Jolie.
Oppure si può sempre evitare la fase del contouring e applicare Zygomatic leggermente sotto gli zigomi, al fine di ricreare un effetto un po' più scolpito. Siamo però di fronte ad un blush rosato e non ad uno marrone. Ci tengo a sottolineare questo aspetto dal momento che lo swatch (marronazzo) e la descrizione ("naked pink brown") ufficiali di Illamasqua potrebbero condurre nella direzione sbagliata, quando invece Zygomatic è un bel rosa che crea giusto un effetto di colorito 'sano'. Sì ecco, quel effetto "no questo non è makeup ed io sto arrossendo di mio, ovvio".

However, Illamasqua cream blushes are among the ones you can't judge by the pan. Their real shades in fact show just once you swirl your brush or fingertips on the surface of the pan.

Epperò i blush in crema di Illamasqua sono tra quelli che non possono essere giudicati dalla loro confezione. I colori reali infatti si mostrano una volta che si strofina il pennello o il polpastrello sulla superficie della cialda.

A muted, dusty pink with a hint of brown and a bit of gray as well maybe.

Un rosa soft, con un accenno di marrone ed anche un po' di grigio forse.

The color belongs to the category "meh in the pan, wow on the cheeks" but I wouldn't recommend it for medium or deep complexions though.
The pigmentation is good and as (I think) most Illamasqua cream blushers it can be easily built up to a true-to-pan color, but the fact is the shade itself is medium and might disappear on similar or darker skin tones.
On the other hand, I'd really recommend Zygomatic to light or fair complexions and I also think it could be flattering on both warm and cool undertones.

Il colore appartiene alla categoria "meh nella confezione, uau sulle guance" ma non lo consiglierei a carnagioni non solo scure ma anche solamente medie.
La pigmentazioneè buona e come (credo) la maggior parte dei blush cremosi Illamasqua può essere facilmente costruita sino ad ottenere il medesimo tono della cialda, ma il fatto è che la tonalità stessa si inserisce tra la gamma dei toni "medi" e potrebbe quindi scomparire su incarnati simili o più scuri.
D'altro canto Zygomatic lo consiglierei dritta dritta a chi ha una carnagione chiara o molto chiara e credo possa donare sia a sottotoni caldi che freddi.

Swatches of Zygomatic on the Illamasqua website are off as there it looks like a true, scary brown. So much so that I was initially afraid to order it because I didn't want to end up having a sort of cream bronzer. Oh well, my doubts turned out to be pointless: Zygomatic has of course a tinge of brown to it, but it's nothing like a bronzer. I included a comparison with NARS Laguna to give you a better idea about the huge difference between the two and how little is the brown component in Zygomatic.

Gli swatch di Zygomatic sul sito Illamasqua sono piuttosto falsati e lì sembra un vero e proprio marrone. A tal punto che inizialmente ero un po' dubbiosa sul suo acquisto perché non volevo ritrovarmi con una sorta di bronzer in crema. E vabè, non avevo motivo di avere tanti dubbi in realtà: certo, Zygomatic ha una sfumatura marrone al suo interno ma non ha nulla a che vedere con un bronzer. A tal proposito ho incluso un confronto con Laguna di NARS, in modo da dare un'idea migliore sull'enorme differenza che intercorre tra i due e su quando minima sia la componente marronazza di Zygomatic.

I don't know what exactly happened in august, but I have very few favorites to show you this time. Of course I did my make up quite often - thanks heat wave for having given us a break - but I simply didn't stick to specific lipstick/blush/foundation. Will I manage to write a brief post for once? We'll see.

Non so cosa sia esattamente successo in agosto ma stavolta ho pochissimi preferiti da mostrarvi. Certo, mi sono truccata abbastanza spesso - grazie ondata di caldo per averci dato tregua - ma è che semplicemente non sono rimasta attaccata ad uno specifico rossetto/blush/fondotinta. Riuscirò quindi a scrivere un post breve, per una volta? Staremo a vedere.

I'd never thought I could get quite obsessed to this thingy. If I had been asked a couple of years ago something like 'would you ever use an eyelash curler?" I'd have probably answered "no way!". Yes, I used to be one of those kinda scared by it. What if it cuts off my lashes? What if it makes all my lashes fall off? But then I started to avidly watch Lisa Eldridge's videos (can we talk about how stunning, inspirational and talented she is, by the way?) and the idea that a curler wouldn't have killed me began to crawl into my mind. The rest is history.
Now I use it pretty much everytime I have to go out and it makes such a difference in how my eyes look despite my poor and short lashes.

Non avrei mai creduto di poter diventare vagamente ossessionata da questo aggeggio. Se un paio di anni fa mi fosse stato chiesto qualcosa tipo "useresti mai un piegaciglia?" con tutta probabilità avrei risposto "ma anche no". Sì, ero una di quelle spaventate da questo accessorio. E se mi trancia le ciglia? E se mi fa cadere tutte le ciglia? Ma poi ho iniziato a guardare i video di Lisa Eldridge (tra l'altro, parliamo di quanto non sia fantastica quella donna? - chiusa parentesi) e l'idea che un piegaciglia non mi avrebbe poi uccisa ha iniziato ad insinuarsi nella mia mente. Il resto è storia.
Ora lo utilizzo praticamente ogni volta che devo uscire e fa decisamente la differenza per come appare lo sguardo, nonostante le mie ciglia corte e sfigatelle.

MAC Bronze and Woodwinked eyeshadows
I had both on my MAC wishlist for a while but I kept putting off the purchase - not having a MAC store nearby and a chance to see the items in person, sometimes makes me overthink about products for months - or years. Then my birthday came, along with Mr postman ringing at my door, unexpectedly. He gave me a packet and I think you guessed what was inside: my lovely friend Beatrice from Strawberrymakeupbag (be sure to check out her blog) sent me an amazing birthday gift - and I'm thinking about a way to properly thank her. :)
Now, onto the eyeshadows, I must say Woodwinked has a seriously gorgeous texture. If you read this blog you'll know I don't use raving terms that often, but this is the case to say it loud: the texture is superb and Woodwinked is a rich, golden brown (sort of). Bronze is instead a rich, well, bronze (duh! I bet you find this description illuminating...). Beside being stunning shades by itself, I like them a lot paired together too - that's the combo I used for my birthday makeup look, by the way.

Entrambi erano sulla mia wishlist targata MAC da un po' di tempo ma continuavo a rimandare l'acquisto - non avere un negozio MAC nei paraggi e la possibilità di vedere gli articoli di persona talvolta mi porta a riflettere sui prodotti per mesi, o anni addirittura. Poi il mio compleanno è arrivato, assieme al postino che ha suonato alla mia porta, inaspettatamente. Mi ha quindi consegnato un pacchetto ed immagino che avrete già intuito cosa c'era al suo interno: la mia amica Beatrice di Strawberrymakeupbag(mi raccomando andate a dare un'occhiata al suo blog eh!) mi ha inviato questo bellissimo regalo di compleanno - ed io sto pensando ad un modo per ringraziarla adeguatamente. :)
Ora, per quanto riguarda gli ombretti, devo proprio dire che Woodwinked ha una texture fantastica. Se leggete questo blog saprete che non uso parole tanto entusiastiche così spesso, ma questo è il caso di dirlo forte e chiaro: la texture è superba e Woowinked risulta un marrone dorato (tipo) ricco in pigmentazione. Bronze è invece un, beh, un color bronzo pieno (rivelazione del secolo! Scommetto che questa descrizione la trovate illuminante...). Oltre ad essere delle tonalità splendide di per sé, mi piacciono pure tanto abbinate assieme - che è poi la combinazione che ho usato la sera del mio compleanno, tra parentesi.

If you're thinking you have already seen this brush on here, you're right: it was part of an Illamasqua order you can findhere. It took me months to understand its potentiality, how it works, what I can use it for and how I can use it - as always happens to me when it comes to brushes.
After many experiments and uses now I'm ready to announce the verdict: definitely, happily approved!
It's not as versatile as many Real Techniques brushes are but that doesn't put me off as it does the job it was meant to do (that is applying blush) pretty well.
I spent a weekend out of town and this was the only blush brush I took with me - along with Real Techniques Buffing and Setting brush.

Se state pensando di aver già visto questo pennello qui sul blog, avete ragione: faceva parte di un ordine Illamasqua che potete trovare qui. Mi ci sono voluti mesi per comprenderne il potenziale, come funzionava, per cosa lo potevo utilizzare e cosa chiedergli - come del resto mi capita sempre quando si tratta di pennelli.
Dopo molti esperimenti ed utilizzi sono pronta per annunciare il verdetto: decisamente e felicemente approvato!
Non è versatile come molti pennelli Real Techniques ma ciò non me lo fa apprezzare di meno, visto che il compito per cui è stato pensato (e cioè applicare il blush) lo svolge molto bene.
Quando sono andata fuori città per un weekend questo è stato l'unico pennello da blush che mi sono portata dietro - assieme ai Real Techniques Buffing e Setting brush.

MAC Spiked
This type of product is a total new entry not only on the blog but also in my stash.
Here's the beauty confession: I've never used eyebrow products until this spring/summer.
Of course I regularly pluck my eyebrows to avoid them to have a life on their own, but I used to think that since they're naturally dark and full I didn't have to touch them any other way. Right? Not really.
Retouching them with Spiked at the upper edges with a light hand makes a big difference: eyebrows look immediately neat and tidy and the whole face looks polished in a sense.
It's not an essential step in my routine and I skip if I'm late, nevertheless it's a nice touch to add.

Ed eccola qui la confessione cosmetica: non avevo mai usato dei prodotti per sopracciglia prima di questa primavera/estate. Certo le spinzetto regolarmente per evitare che vivano di vita propria, ma pensavo che, dal momento che sono naturalmente scure e piene, non avessi bisogno di toccare in nessun altro modo.
Giusto? E mica troppo. Ritoccandole col la Spike a livello dei bordi superiori con mano leggera, c'è una gran differenza: le sopracciglia appaiono subito più pulite e definite e l'intero viso sembra più in ordine, in un certo senso. Non è un passaggio essenziale nella mia routine e lo salto se sono in ritardo, ma comunque è un tocco in più che ci sta tutto.

It's a birthday gift and I couldn't have been happier to unwrap it. I've been using it every day and it might have what it takes to become a new 'signature' perfume of mine. We'll see!

Birthdays are my favorite thing to celebrate, besides Christmas. It's not only because of all the gifts, but there's indeed something special to me in celebrating the day we have born.
Last year my birthday happened in a very tough moment and I couldn't enjoy it as I'd have liked to and with people I'd have liked to have by my side. Though this year things have been balanced and I've had one the best birthdays of my adult life. I'm so deeply grateful for that. Spending that day with my loved ones is really the best thing it could happened to me. However, as I don't wanna talk too much about my real and private life on here - boring business, guys - and prefer to keep things easy, it's better to move on to the more material side of birthdays. You know what I'm talking about ;)

I compleanni sono le feste a cui tengo di più, oltre al natale. Non è solo per i regali, ma è che per me c'è un qualcosa di speciale nel festeggiare il giorno in cui si è nati. Sono date a cui tengo molto.
L'anno scorso il mio compleanno è caduto in un periodo particolarmente difficile e non ho potuto godermelo come avrei voluto e assieme alle persone che avrei tanto voluto avere accanto. Ma non badiamo al passato, quest'anno le cose si sono equilibrate ed ho trascorso uno dei migliori compleanni della mia vita adulta. E sono davvero grata per questo. Passare quel giorno con le persone care era la cosa migliore. Comunque sia, visto che non amo parlare troppo della mia vita reale e privata qua sopra - roba noiosa gente! - e preferisco tenere le cose easy - che poliglotta oh! - è meglio passare al lato più superficiale e materiale dei compleanni. My birthday has been at the end of August but my boyfriend, my friends and I sometimes seem to live in a different time-space continuum and we're used to belated (or early) gifts. So much so that my dear friend living in Spain has already gave me the christmas gifts! So no surprise I received the last ones just a few days ago. First off, it wasn't my fault. I didn't mean to. I swear (but I might have crossed fingers behind my back).
It's Guerlain that releases such beautiful products in conjuction with my birthday. And we all now that there's no better time of the year to justify more than one self-gift, don't we?
So the new Guerlain fall collection Violette de Madame with that pretty Madame Rougit blush and three new Rouge G lipsticks grabbed my attention, but the piece ended on my wishlist as soon as I saw it was Rouge G nº860, Madame Batifole.

Allora, non è stata colpa mia. Io non volevo. Giuro (ma potrei, forse, avere le dita incrociate).
È Guerlain che lancia dei prodotti tanto appetibili nel periodo del mio compleanno. E sappiamo tutti che non c'è miglior periodo dell'anno per giustificare qualche auto-regalo, no?
La nuova collezione autunnale di Guerlain Violette de Madame, con quel bellissimo blush Madame Rougit e tre nuovi rossetti Rouge G, ha attirato la mia attenzione (scontato) ma il pezzo che è finito col saltare sulla mia lista dei desideri, e col piazzarsi prepotentemente ai primi posti, è stato il Rouge G n°860, Madame Batifole.

I don't usually spend words describing packaging but this time I really have to.
I mean, look at it. It's the classic Rouge G signature casing but with an extra: Rouge Gs part of Violette de Madame collection have a swiss dot veil design silk-screened on them, which also seems resistant to scratches that may occur if you are like me and carry your lipstick of the day in your messy bag along with a ton of random stuff.
Guerlain Rouge G case has been designed by Lorenz Baumer, the jewelry designer: the casing hides a flip mirror (the mirrors are actually two in order to be convenient for both right and left-handed people) and a magnetic side that attracts the base of the actual lipstick tube. By pulling out the lipstick the mirror gets unlocked - but it doesn't stay closed on its own.

The packaging is high quality, extremely well made and feels luxury, as we'd expect from a high-end brand like Guerlain I guess. The con though is the weight: I personally don't mind it, since my bag is always full of the most varied things and I'm used to heavy totes, nonetheless keep in mind that Rouge G are, well...heavy.
These aren't lipsticks that you might want to carry with you on vacation if have to take a plane and your baggage must not exceed N kilos. Nor are the best choice to put in your purse if you want to stay light and I wouldn't throw them at someone's head neither, to be honest. Rouge G weigh about 100g.

Di solito non spendo molte parole descrivendo il packaging ma stavolta devo proprio farlo.
Cioè, voglio dire, guardiamolo. È la classica confezione tipica dei Rouge G ma con un extra: i Rouge G che fanno parte della collezione Violette de Madame hanno infatti serigrafato il decoro di una veletta a pois, che sembrerebbe pure essere resistente ai graffi che potrebbero sussistere se anche voi come me vi portate dietro il rossetto del giorno sparso nella borsa, assieme ad una tonnellata di cose varie ed eventuali.
La linea dei rossetti Rouge G è stata pensata da Lorenz Baumer, designer di gioielli: la confezione cela uno specchietto che si apre a scatto (anzi, gli specchietti sono in realtà due al fine di risultare comodi anche per chi è mancino) ed un lato magnetico che attira e blocca a sé la base in cui è racchiuso il rossetto. Estraendo il rossetto lo specchio si sblocca - ma non resta chiuso da solo.
Il packaging è di qualità e di ottima fattura sin nei minimi dettagli, come del resto ci aspetteremmo da un brand di fascia alta come Guerlain, presumo. Il contro però è il peso: personalmente non mi crea problemi, dal momento che la mia borsa è sempre piena delle cose più variegate e sono ormai abituata alle borse pesanti, ma tuttavia vale la pena dire che i Rouge sono, ecco...pesanti.
Non sono i rossetti che potreste voler portare con voi in vacanza se dovete prendere un aereo ed il vostro bagaglio non deve eccedere N kg. Così come non sono i migliori da infilare in una borsetta per stare leggere ed onestamente non li tirerei neppure in testa a qualcuno. I Rouge G infatti pesano quasi 100g.

But let's move on to the actual lipstick which is the reason you're reading my ramble, I guess.
Madame Batifole is described by Guerlain as "vibrant fuchsia" but it's actually much more than a plain fuchsia. It's one of those hues I go crazy for: it's definitely cool toned but has a quite strong red base that makes it a berry color. It also has a luminous, shiny effect given by what I'm tempted to call 'micro shimmer'.
I know, 'shimmer' is a taboo word when it comes to lipstick as many (including me) would picture in mind a glittery and tacky scenario. But Madame Batifole is not glittery nor tacky by any means. Let's say it has the super finest micro shimmer to it. That's basically undetectable and is there just to add dimension and even more shine. The lips aren't covered in shimmer and you cannot feel these particles.
The finish reminds me a bit of MAC Amplified's (favorites of mine!), it is creamy and shiny but with that little extra given by the said "shimmer".

The lipstick has a violet scent to it, which is faint though and undetectable once applied.

Ma passiamo al rossetto vero e proprio che è poi il motivo per cui starete leggendo questo mio sproloquio, suppongo. Madame Batifole è descritto da Guerlain come "fucsia vibrante" ma in realtà è molto più di un semplice fucsia. È uno di quei colori che mi intrigano parecchio: il tono è sicuramente freddo ma ha una base rossa che lo rende un color berry.
Ha inoltre un effetto luminoso, lucido, dato da ciò che sono tentata di chiamare 'micro shimmer'.
Eh lo so, 'shimmer' è una parola turpe, brutta brutta brutta (cit.) quando si parla di rossetti visto che molti (tra cui io per prima) potrebbero visualizzare mentalmente uno scenario kitsch e glitterato. Ma Madame Batifole non è assolutamente così. Diciamo che ha al suo interno degli shimmer microscopici, davvero finissimi e impalpabili. Sono praticamente impercettibili e sono presenti giusto per donare più luminosità e dimensione. Le labbra non sono ricoperte da glitter e queste particelle non si sentono davvero.
Il finish mi ricorda un po' gli Amplified di MAC (tra i miei preferiti!), è cremoso e un po' lucido ma con quel piccolo extra dato dai suddetti "shimmer", tra virgolette.
Il rossetto ha inoltre un profumo di violetta, che però è leggero e non si nota più una volta applicato.

I purchased my first Guerlain Rouge G (nº25 Garçonne) more than a year ago and I fell in love with the formula. Madame Batifole lived up to my high expectations.
The color payoff is rich and opaque with one single swipe. The lipstick glides nicely on the lips and it's a pleasure to apply even on dry lips like mine.
It also feels moisturizing and uber comfortable. After 4-5 hours, it gradually loses its hydrating property and acts more like a nor-moisturing-neither-drying lipstick, but it doesn't feel drying even after 6 hours.
I did an extreme test and tried it on a chapped and dried out lips day, after 3 days with no lip balm (extreme texting here, I told ya!). Well, it felt comfortable even that day and didn't make my lips look like 20 years older.

Despite being very creamy, the texture is thin and stays put - it doesn't smear on me but if your lips aren't well defined a pencil might come in handy. As said, I manage to wear it for about 6 hours (lipsticks usually last 3h on me) and it also survived a two courses -not oily- meal and a cup of tea with cookies.
Is it the perfect lipstick? It can't be flawless!

And in fact it isn't.

Ho acquistato il mio primo Guerlain Rouge G (il n°25 Garçonne) più di un anno fa, la formula mi è piaciuta moltissimo e Madame Batifole tiene fede alle mie alte aspettative.
Il colore ha una resa ricca e coprente già con una sola passata. Il rossetto scorre bene sulle labbra ed è un piacere da applicare anche su delle labbra secche come le mie.
Risulta idratante ed ultra confortevole. Dopo 4-5 ore perde gradualmente questa sua caratteristica idratante e si comporta più come uno dei vari rossetti 'non secca né idrata', ma non sento le labbra disidratate neppure dopo 6 ore.
Ho anche fatto un test ninja e l'ho provato in una giornata di labbra secche come il deserto che non vedevano un burrocacao da 3 giorni (roba estrema qua, ve l'ho detto!). Ecco, risultava piacevole da portare persino quel giorno e non faceva sembrare le labbra di 20 anni in più.

Nonostante sia cremoso, la texture è sottile e leggera e resiste bene - su di me non sbava ma se non avete il contorno labbra ben definito una matita potrebbe essere utile. Come detto, riesco a portarlo per circa 6 ore (quando i rossetti mi durano in media 3h) e sopravvive ad un pasto - non oleoso - di due portate e ad una tazza di the coi biscotti.
È il rossetto perfetto? Non può non avere un difetto!

Ed infatti ce l'ha.

MAC Perpetual Flame lacks the blue tone and it's matte. Atomic is totally matte, slightly bluer and has a noticeable blue sheen to it. Luxembourg by Nars is much brighter and not as cool.

My camera didn't want to pick up the real color of Girl About Town and I tried to photoshop it, but don't trust the swatch too much - it's nothing like Madame Batifole though, definitely in the fuchsia land.

MAC Perpetual Flame manca del tono blu ed è matte. Atomic è totalmente matte, un po' più freddo ed ha un riflesso bluastro. Luxembourg di Nars è molto più accesa e non altrettanto fredda.
La mia macchina fotografica non voleva cogliere il tono reale di Girl About Town ed ho cercato di modificarlo, ma non fidatevi un granché di quello swatch - non ha comunque nulla a che vedere con Madame Batifole, è decisamente un fucsia a tutti gli effetti.

Cotanta beltade ha un certo peso sì, ma anche per il portafoglio. Il costo è infatti di 35.95€ per 3.5g ed è un'edizione limitata - quindi tocca acchiapparla finché c'è.
Se aveste intenzione di acquistarlo vi consiglierei di dare un'occhiata a Douglas dove si trova a 35.95€ contro i 37.50€ che chiede Sephora e dove ci sono più spesso sconti di 15%-20% o 5€.

I guess the question at this point is: is it worth the money?

Quite frankly, it's difficult for me to say "yes, a lipstick is definitely worth 35€ and you have to get it no matter what" and I rarely say similar things mainly because I do believe everyone has its own budget and interests, but let's say that if you want to treat yourself to a high-end lippie, then I recommend to give Madame Batifole a go. You'll get a high quality product and I'd say you won't regret the purchase.

In case you'll stop by a Guerlain counter and don't want to extend your wishlist, keep your eyes opened: you risk falling in love with this guy here at first swatch. x

E insomma, non è bello questo Madame Batifole? Avrei dovuto mettere un "beauty lover advisory: contenuti entusiastici".
Immagino che la domanda a questo punto sia: vale i soldi che costa?
In sincerità, è difficile per me dire "sì, un rossetto vale assolutamente 35€ e dovete prenderlo a tutti i costi" e raramente dico cose simili perché credo fermamente che ognuno abbia il proprio budget ed i propri interessi in cui preferisce spendere o meno, ma diciamo che se volete premiarvi con un rossetto di fascia alta, vi consiglio di dare un'occhiata a Madame Batifole. Avrete un prodotto di qualità di cui, mi azzardo a dirlo, non credo vi pentirete.

In caso vi fermiate di fronte ad un espositore Guerlain e non vogliate allungare la vostra lista dei desideri, tenete gli occhi aperti: c'è il rischio che vi innamoriate di questo tizio qui al primo swatch.

Ready for an unusual post for this blog routine?

Earlier this summer, beforethe unbearable usual heat wave came, I spent a day in Venice armed with my Canon.
Although I don't live too far from there, it's still a place I don't visit often - such a shame I know. Last time I went to Venice I was 15 or so and didn't enjoy and fully get the beauty of the town, or at least not as much as I can do now.
I don't know if you can tell by browsing Dottedaround, but a passion of mine surely is photography, which unfortunately doesn't mean I can take pictures as amazing as I'd like, but I do my best and just enjoy trying (they say practice is the mother of skills, after all).
Every spot of Venice exudes history and art and if you'd ask me to use just one word to describe this unique town, I'd choose the adjective "inspiring" for sure.

I won't talk about places or streets in detail nor will I talk about where to eat or where to shop as I still don't know the city that well, but I just hope with my pictures I can give you an idea on what the feeling of being there is like.

Pronti per un post diverso dal solito?
All'inizio dell'estate, prima che la solita insopportabile ondata di caldo arrivasse, ho trascorso un giorno a Venezia, armata di Canon alla mano.
Nonostante non viva troppo distante da lì, è un luogo che non visito spesso - eh è un peccato, lo so. L'ultima volta in cui ero stata a Venezia credo avessi più o meno 15 anni e non è che avessi colto pienamente lo spirito della città, o almeno, non tanto quanto sono in grado di fare ora con qualche anno in più.
Non so se sia capito girando su Dottedaround, ma una delle mie passioni è sicuramente la fotografia, il che purtroppo non significa che sia in grado di scattare chissà quali meraviglie o foto qualitativamente meritevoli come vorrei, ma faccio del mio meglio e mi piace provarci (in fin dei conti si dice che la pratica sia il miglior esercizio, no?).
Ogni inquadratura di Venezia trasuda storia e arte e se mi chiedeste di descrivere questa città con una sola parola, sceglierei sicuramente "d'ispirazione".
Non parlerò dei luoghi e delle vie nel dettaglio né di dove mangiare o dove fare acquisti visto che ancora non conosco la città a tal punto, ma spero solo di riuscire a dare con queste foto una vaga idea di cosa significhi trovarsi lì.

Loyal readers might have already read the brief story of this lipstick in the July Favorites post: I bought it a couple of years ago for my mum who used to rock orange lipsticks pretty much every day. Now though she has changed hair color and that's involving an update of her makeup bag as well as the departure of the bold and bright orange lipsticks she owns, since now they don't suit her coloring as much as they used to do. So she allowed me to snoop in her bag and I found this MAC lipstick that she haven't used too much because it was too red for her standard, she told me (she used to be a Morange-kind-of-lady). Either way, I was glad to give So Chaud a new home in company with other lipsticks and to explore the land of orangy-red, where I had never ventured before.

Chi legge questo sproloquio di blog assiduamente (ma davvero?) potrebbe aver già letto la breve storia di questo rossetto nel post sui Preferiti di luglio: l'avevo acquistato un paio di anni fa per mia mamma che all'epoca portava rossetti aranciati praticamente ogni giorno. Ora però ha cambiato colore di capelli e ciò comporta un restyle del suo beauty case, così come la dipartita dei rossetti arancio brillanti e accesi che possiede, visto che attualmente non si armonizzano più coi suoi colori come facevano prima. E quindi mi ha lasciato curiosare tra le sue cose e ne sono uscita con questo rossetto MAC, che tra l'altro non ha usato troppo perché era troppo rosso per i suoi standard, sostiene (il che dice tutto, lei per anni è stata più una da Morange, per dire). Comunque sia, sono stata ovviamente contenta di dare a So Chaud una nuova casa in compagnia di altri rossetti e di esplorare la terra del rosso-aranciato, dove non mi ero mai avventurata prima.

MAC has a very big range of lipsticks and many are also well-known and considered as "must-have" within the beauty community, but So Chaud is maybe one of those (few) little known shades that makes you think: "So-Chaud-what?". Another MAC warm based red - Lady Danger - is stealing all the show and So Chaud is still underestimated and not talked about very often.

MAC ha un range di rossetti molto vasto e tanti sono anche ben conosciuti e considerati dei "must-have" all'interno del mondo del makeup, ma So Chaud è forse una di quelle (poche) tonalità che non è molto nota e che può far pensare: "So-Cosa scusa?". Un altro rosso in base calda di MAC - Lady Danger - gli ruba tutta la scena e So Chaud si ritrova, porello, sottovalutato e poco chiacchierato.

MAC describes So Chaud as an "intense reddish-orange". It's certainly intense, bright and bold but the more I look at it, the more I'm not sure about how to describe it: at times it looks like a reddish-orange, at others it looks more of an orangy red. What's sure is that the orange hue is strong anyway.
So Chaud has a matte finish and an amazing texture. There, I said it. Despite being matte it doesn't tug or pull excessively, on the contrary it's creamy enough to glide quite easily on the lips. It has the typical 'thick' consistency of a MAC matte and its staying power is very much above average as it manages to last up to 5 hours on me if I don't eat - otherwise it slightly crumbles at the center of the lip, while still looks perfect at the outer edges (this always happens to me with pretty much every matte lippie though). Needless to say that once it's on, it doesn't smudge or budge at all.

It's also insanely pigmented: it's not one of those matte lipsticks that goes on quite patchy and that you have to build up. So Chaud is perfectly even and opaque in just one swipe.
However, it's not a lipstick you might want to use when on a rush because it calls for perfection: a matched lip pencil or, the one I prefer, a lip brush with square edges are good friends of So Chaud and make it look at its best. In the swatch below I applied it straight from the tube and as you can see the result isn't perfect on my lower lip, but nothing a brush couldn't fix.

Despite the finish, the look isn't overly matte. It's also quite comfortable to wear and doesn't dry my lips out. It's actually one of the best matte lipsticks I have in terms of formula, even better than other MAC mattes, such as Candy Yum Yum.

MAC descrive So Chaud come un "intenso rosso arancio". È sicuramente intenso, brillante e acceso ma più lo guardo, più sono insicura di come descriverlo: a volte sembra un arancio con del rosso, altre sembra più un rosso aranciato (c'è persino una differenza tra la descrizione americana e la traduzione italiana - in inglese risulterebbe come un 'arancio rossiccio').
Quello che è certo è che la componente arancione è comunque spiccata.
So Chaud ha un finish matte ed una texture ottima. Ecco, l'ho detto. Nonostante sia matte non tira né strappa durante l'applicazione, anzi è cremoso abbastanza da poter scorrere abbastanza facilmente. Ha la tipica consistenza "densa", "spessa" dei matte di casa MAC e la sua durata è di molto sopra la media, visto che su di me riesce a reggere fino a 5 ore se non mangio - altrimenti si sgretola leggermente al centro del labbro, mentre resta perfetto verso aree più esterne (questo però mi succede praticamente con ogni rossetto matte, chi prima chi dopo). Inutile dire che una volta steso non si muove e non sbava per nulla.

È inoltre assurdamente pigmentato: non è uno di quei rossetti matte che si stende a chiazze e che dovete costruire. So Chaud è perfettamente omogeneo e coprente in una sola passata.
Tuttavia, non è un rossetto che potreste voler usare se andate di fretta perché richiede perfezione: una matita abbinata o, quello che preferisco, un pennello labbra dalla forma squadrata sono buoni amici di So Chaud e lo fanno apparire al meglio. Nello swatch più sotto l'ho applicato direttamente dallo stick e credo si noti che il risultato non è perfetto a livello del mio labbro inferiore, ma non è nulla che un pennello non potrebbe risolvere.

Nonostante il finish, non risulta eccessivamente matte. È anche abbastanza confortevole da portare e non mi secca le labbra. Anzi, a dir il vero è uno dei migliori rossetti matte che io abbia, in termini di formula. Pure meglio di altri matte di MAC, come Candy Yum Yum, per dire.

Just to give you a better idea of how the color is compared to a cool toned red and to a sheer yellow based orange. I didn't a comparison with other similar colors basically because I don't have anything alike in my lipstick arsenal.

Giusto per dare un'idea migliore di come risulti il colore confrontato con un rosse in base fredda ed un arancione con base gialla. Non ho fatto un confronto con altri colori simili principalmente perché...non ho nulla di lontanamente simile nel mio arsenale dei rossetti.

In all honesty I would have never expected to like a similar color this much and that it complemented my warm undertones so well. When I put it on, I feel like my face gets instantly perked and brigthened up.
I said before that Lady Danger is possibly the most famous orangy-red among MAC lipsticks but I can also see why: I don't own that one but looking at many swatches on blogs Lady Danger seems to have a stronger red base compared to So Chaud, which makes LD easier to wear for a wider group of people.
As far as I do like So Chaud, I don't recommend to buy it without trying it in person, all the more so if you're not familiar with orangy lipsticks (if you can easily rock shades like MAC Morange instead, then go for it!). It's oh-so-beautiful if suits you but could also be your most hated lipstick if turned out to be clashing with your complexion (okay, maybe that was obvious).

In tutta onestà non mi sarei mai aspettata che un simile colore piacesse così tanto e che si armonizzasse bene con la mia carnagione, dal sottotono caldo. Quando lo metto è come se mi accendesse il viso, mi piace davvero molto l'effetto che dà.
Prima ho detto che Lady Danger è forse il rosso aranciato più famoso tra tutti i rossetti MAC ma in fin dei conti capisco anche il perché: non è tra quelli che possiedo, ma vedendo molti swatches sparsi per i blog, Lady Danger sembra avere una base più rossa rispetto a So Chaud, cosa che rende LD più facile da portare per un gruppo più ampio di persone.
Per quanto mi piaccia So Chaud, non consiglio di acquistarlo senza averlo provato di persona, a maggior ragione se non avete dimestichezza coi rossetti aranciati (se invece riuscite a sfoggiare toni come Morange di MAC, allora presto, dategli un'occhiata!). È oh-così-stupendo se si intona coi vostri colori ma potrebbe anche diventare il vostro rossetto più odiato se dovesse venir fuori che cozza terribilmente col vostro incarnato (okay, vabbè, forse quest'ultima osservazione era anche ovvia e potevo evitarla).

So Chaud is one of MAC's matte lipsticks. The bullet contains 3g / 0.1oz of product for a price tag of 15$ / 14£ / 18.50€. It's part of MAC core range (thanks makeup goddess, it's not one of the thousand limited editions that MAC constantly releases) and it's available at MAC corners, shops and on the official website.

So Chaud è uno dei rossetti matte di MAC. La confezione contiene 3g di prodotto per un prezzo di 18.50€. Fa parte della linea principale di MAC (grazie agli dèi del makeup non è una delle millemila edizioni limitate che MAC fa uscire in continuazione) ed è acquistabile presso i corner ed i negozi MAC o sul sito ufficiale.

I'm alive. It's just that life has sucked me in, nevertheless now I'm back and ready to blog about a not-so-recent-now haul that I had in my drafts for a while and a russian brand that has been impressing me a lot lately.
I consider myself as a kinda picky person sometimes. Many things (from the beauty-related to the most varied ones) catch my attention of course, but it's not that often that I'm blown away.
Speaking of makeup, I think a brand crush hasn't happened to me since when I discovered MAC and I ventured in its lipstick tunnel - never got out from that tunnel, by the way.
That was until I heard of Rouge Bunny Rouge for the first time, possibly from Beatrice (strawberrymakeupbag.blogspot.com). I visited their website and I got hooked.

Sono viva. È solo che la vita quotidiana mi ha risucchiata, però ora sono tornata e pronta per parlare di un non-più-troppo-recente acquisto che avevo nelle bozze del blog da un po' e di un brand russo che ultimamente mi sta piacevolmente colpendo.
Talvolta mi ritengo una persona abbastanza difficile in certi frangenti. Molte cose (da quelle nell'ambito cosmetico alle più disparate) attirano la mi attenzione, certo, ma non succede poi così spesso che io ne venga rapita. Parlando di makeup, credo che una folgorazione per un qualche marchio non mi accadesse da quando scoprii MAC ed entrai nel suo tunnel dei rossetti - ancora non ne sono uscita, tra parentesi.
Ma questo era prima che sentissi parlare di Rouge Bunny Rouge per la prima volta, forse da Batrice (strawberrymakeupbag.blogspot.it). Ero andata a visitare il loro sito e lì ciao, colpita e affondata.

To me Rouge Bunny Rouge is a well-thought brand, from packaging to product descriptions. To the products itself too. Browsing their website is like diving into a sort of fairy world: not only because of the graphic, but because of their descriptions as well. And you know, I'm a sucker for details as I do think they're what sometimes makes all the difference. Even the authomatic confirmation email you receive after placing an order from them has a little extra. Also their Pinterest account is one of my favorites ever (discuss, how ispiring is the Milk Aquarelle board?). It's not often that we, bloggers, talk about a brand in these terms, focusing on the creativity and the marketing behind it rather than just on the products quality, but this brand in my opinion would deserve to be talked about more often and a bit more in detail.
Enough raving now, better moving on what I took home with me I guess!

Trovo che Rouge Bunny Rouge sia un brand ben pensato, dal packaging alle descrizioni dei singoli prodotti. Ai prodotti stessi anche. Girare per il loro sito è come immergersi in una sorta di dimensione fatata: non solo per la grafica, ma anche per le loro descrizioni che meritano di essere lette. E insomma, sapete no che sono una grandissima amante dei dettagli perché credo che talvolta facciano tutta la differenza. Persino l'email automatica di conferma che ricevete dopo aver effettuato un ordine da Rouge Bunny Rouge ha quel piccolo extra in più. Ed anche il loro account Pinterestè tra quelli che preferisco in assolito (parliamone, non è ispirante ad esempio la serie Milk Aquarelle? O magari sono strana io, probabile). Spesso da blogger non parliamo poi molto di un marchio in questi termini, addentrandoci sull'aspetto creativo e sul marketing che vi sta dietro piuttosto che solo sulla qualità dei prodotti, ma credo che Rouge Bunny Rouge sia un marchio che meriterebbe più parole e notorietà anche.
Mi sa che sono già sembrata sufficientemente invasata ora, meglio passare a ciò che ho portato a casa con me credo!

I've already tried everything but the highlighting powder and I've also received other wonders from RBR. I'll try to review everything as soon as I can but I warn you, it seems difficult to write a muted review and not to sing the praises of some of these products, but I'll do my best.

Ho già provato e riprovato praticamente tutto eccetto l'illuminante in polvere in omaggio con l'ordine e nel frattempo ho ricevuto altre meraviglie RBR. Cercherò di recensire il più possibile ed il più presto possibile ma ve lo dico, è difficile scrivere una review pacata senza sembrare un'esaltata che si prodiga in lodi per alcuni di questi prodotti, ma farò del mio meglio.

Maybe it's a bit rash putting this product among the favorites after only a month of use but so far I'm pleased with the result. I have some acne scars and pimples that keep on making their appearance on my right cheek and take like forever to heal and disappear. My cheek isn't clear yet but I've already seen a difference and those red spots that had sat on my skin for literally months don't look as visible as before. However I'm gonna keep to apply it every other night and see if it will be manage to clear up my cheek at some point.

Forse è un po' avventato inserire questo prodotto tra i preferiti dopo solo un mese di utilizzo, ma per il momento sono già contenta del risultato che sembra avere. La mia guancia destra vanta infatti delle cicatrici da un vecchio (e unico) sfogo d'acne, così come brufoli e imperfezioni che continuano a fare la loro apparizione e che impiegano un'eternità per sfiammarsi e scomparire. La mia guancia non è ancora perfetta ma già ho notato una differenza e quelle macchie rosse che hanno risieduto sulla mia pelle per mesi e mesi ora non sono visibili come prima. Continuerò comunque ad applicarlo a notti alterne per vedere se sarà in grado di far tornare la mia guancia com'era prima.

Guerlain Rouge G L'Extrait in Orgueil
First of all, the one you see in the picture isn't the official packaging (which is this one) but just a sample I bought from a girl for a fraction of the price. Secondly, this product is fantastic to me. There, I said it. It's a liquid lipstick that lasts incredibly well without drying out the lips. Not to mention the color, Orgueil, which is a oh-so-beautiful deep berry red.

Prima di tutto, quella che vedete nella foto non è la confezione ufficiale (che è questa) ma solo un tester che ho acquistato da una ragazza per una cifra molto modesta (sì sì lo so non si fa, non prendete esempio da me). Secondo, questo prodotto per me è fantastico. E lo dico senza mezze misure. È un rossetto liquido che dura una quaresima ma senza seccare le labbra. Senza parlare poi del colore, Orgueil, che è una meraviglia di rosso berry dai toni vagamente cupi, vagamente.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Sketches on Water tinted moisturizer*
This tinted moisturizer seems to have what it takes to make it to my top favorite base products. I've been using it almost daily since I've been kinda lazy even when it comes to makeup and been appreciating a light and perfecting base that looks natural and doesn't cover the skin's texture. And that's exactly what Sketches on Water TM is (what an enchanting name, by the way).

Questo tinted moisturizer sembra avere tutte le carte in regola per diventare una delle mie basi preferite. Lo sto usando quasi ogni giorno, visto che ultimamente sono un po' pigra anche quando si tratta di makeup e sto apprezzando molto una base leggera e uniformante che appaia naturale e che non vada a coprire la trama della pelle. Il che è esattamente ciò che Sketches on Water è (e che nome stupendo ha, parliamone).

I own this shampoo for several months now and it's been growing on me more and more. I'd like to write an in depth review but for now I can tell you that yes, it works. It's supposed to clean your hair from product build ups and it does a really good job in this regard. My hair feels clean indeed afterwards, lighter, renewed in a sense.

Ormai possiedo questo shampoo da parecchi mesi e la mia opinione su di lui è sempre più positiva. Vorrei parlarne in una review più dettagliata ma intanto posso dire che ebbene sì, funziona. Dovrebbe andare a pulire a fondo il capello dai residui di prodotti per lo styling e non solo ed onestamente lo fa e pure bene. Sento i capelli davvero puliti, più leggeri e in un certo senso rinnovati, passatemi il termine.

Ed ecco la combinazione per i capelli che più sto apprezzando. Il prodotto precedente pulisce in profondità menter questa maschera dà una botta di volume al mio capello assieme ad un effetto più lucido. Antipodes Avocado and Pear night cream
I tried a sample that Beatrice from strawberrymakeupbag.blogspot.com gave me and I was impressed by it. It was March or April and despite my love at first applications, I thought it would have been better to buy a lighter cream more suitable for the warmer months that were approaching, but I promised myself I would have purchased this Antipodes gem once in Fall. I'm not too keen on the smell (patchouli-like) to be honest but what matters the most is the effectiveness after all and so far I'm impressed with that.

Ne avevo provato un sample che mi aveva mandato Beatrice distrawberrymakeupbag.blogspot.com e ne ero rimasta colpita. Parliamo di marzo o aprile e, nonostante fosse amore alle prime applicazioni, ho pensato che sarebbe stato meglio acquistare una crema più leggera e più adatta ai mesi caldi che si stavano avvicinando, ma mi ero ripromessa che avrei acquistato questo vasetto di Antipodes una volta giunto l'autunno. Ad essere onesta non sono troppo convinta dall'odore (di patchouli direi) ma ciò che conta di più dopo tutto è l'efficacia e di quella per ora ne sono molto soddisfatta.

It was quite an odissey but we finally made it! If you tried to order from Illamasqua website during the (can I say amazing?) 50% off sale you know what I mean. Not to mention that the offer could be combined with the 10% loyalty discount for a total 60% off (who could resist? Not me).
Their server couldn't handle the crazy rush, obviously, and that complicated the all process.
However, after only a couple of tries, I maneged to place my order. But the part that took more patience came next: after 10 days my order wasn't despatched yet and I had no clue what was going on. I do love Illamasqua, the philosophy behind the brand and many of their products, but god knows if the customer service takes ages to reply to emails.
(by the way, I suppose the delay was because they were awaiting a new stock of the cream pigment I picked up).
Nonetheless, the black box arrived safely at my doorstep after 5-6 days and here is what I end up buying - I warn you, the situation went a bit out of hand in the name of the "when will I ever get a another chance like this" philosophy.

È stata un po' un'odissea ma alla fine ce l'abbiamo fatta! Se avete provato ad ordinare dal sito Illamasqua durante lo sconto (posso dire fantastico?) del 50% saprete cosa intendo. Senza tralasciare il fatto che l'offerta era addirittura cumulabile con lo sconto fedeltà del 10% per una riduzione totale del 60% (voglio dire, chi poteva resistere? Non io di certo).
Il loro server non riusciva a sostenere la corsa all'acquisto, ovviamente, e ciò ha complicato alquanto le cose ma alla fine, dopo giusto un paio di tentativi, sono riuscita a piazzare il mio ordine.
Epperò la parte che ha richiesto parecchia pazienza è arrivata dopo: passati 10 giorni infatti il mio ordine non era ancora stato spedito e non avevo idea di cosa stesse accadendo. Perché, devo dirlo, io adoro Illamasqua eh, adoro la filosofia che sta dietro al marchio e gran parte dei loro prodotti ma santapazienza dio solo sa se il servizio clienti impiega anni a rispondere alle email.
(suppongo comunque che il ritardo fosse dovuto all'attesa di un nuovo stock del pigmento in crema che avevo scelto).
Nonostante tutto però il pacchetto nero è arrivato sano e salvo bussando alla mia porta dopo 5-6 giorni e qui c'è tutto ciò che ho alla fine acquistato - avviso che la situazione mi è sfuggita un po' di mano in nome della filosofia "ma quando mai mi ricapita uno scontone simile".

Sorry for the fingerprints over every product but initially an haul post wasn't expected and I had already begun testing everything out (everytime I purchase beauty items I can't resist and have to swatch and try them as soon as possible).
Actually at the top of my Illamasqua wishlist there are (or were) Eurydice lipstick (check!), Promise cream blush and above all the Hydra Veil but the latter were unfortunately out of stock, so I thought to get a new blush brush instead.
Obviously I'm not ready yet for reviews but let me know if something caught your attention and you'd like to read a review about it as in this case I may give priority to that. :)

Chiedo venia per le sditazzate su ogni prodotto ma inizialmente un post simile non l'avevo previsto e avevo già iniziato a provare tutto (sia mai che lasci qualcosa di nuovo e intonso per più di 10 minuti).
In realtà ai primi posti della mia wishlist Illamasqua ci sono (o c'erano) il rossetto Eurydice (célo!), il blush in crema Promise e soprattutto l'Hydra Veil ma purtroppo gli ultimi erano esauriti, così ho pensato di utilizzare il budget rimasto per prendere un nuovo pennello da blush.
Ovviamente non sono ancora pronta per una review ma fatemi sapere se c'è qualcosa che vi ha colpito in particolare e di cui magari vi piacerebbe leggere qualcosa in merito, magari posso dare priorità a quello. :)

PS: la spedizione da Illamasqua costa 9.00£ ma è gratis per ordini di almeno 50£. Il servizio usato è Royal Mail ed è tracciabile. Se ordinate smalti o profumi il prezzo sale però a 15£ perché passa tutto in mano ad un corriere espresso ed in quel caso la spedizione si paga sempre, indipendentemente dall'ammontare dell'ordine.

Earlier this summer I was contacted by Guam PR who asked me if I was willing to try some of their products.

We all know, I guess, Guam for the anti cellulite and mud based products, which was what I knew them for too. And because of that, I initially declined their offer: I don't use that type of products so there would be no point in accepting something I couldn't properly review - actually, as odd as it may sound, I have to deal with a too skinny figure but that's another story.

Then she told me they also have a haircare line now and they wanted me to try something from that range. At that point my thought was something like "Let's discuss then!" and I eventually accepted the offer.

All'inizio di quest'estate sono stata contattata dalla PR di Guam che mi ha chiesto se fossi disposta a provare alcuni dei loro prodotti.
Tutte, immagino, hanno presente il marchio Guam per i fanghi ed i prodotti anticellulite, che era poi ciò per cui li conoscevo pure io. E proprio a causa di questo ho inizialmente declinato l'offerta: non utilizzo quel tipo di prodotti e quindi non avrebbe senso accettare qualcosa che non potrei recensire - e per quanto strano sembri magari, in realtà ho a che fare col problema inverso di una linea pure troppo magra, ma questa è un'altra storia (e se mi seguite su Facebook dall'alba dei tempi avrete sicuramente letto i miei anatemi nei confronti di Zara e affini a riguardo - e sì Intimissimi, guardo pure te. Ma sto divagando e alla grandissima).
In seguito la PR mi ha detto che ora il marchio ha anche una linea per capelli e che avrebbero voluto farmi provare qualcosa da quest'ultima. Alché il mio pensiero si è trasformato in tipo "Parliamone!" e alla fine ho accettato la proposta.

First of all, if you are after bio products and want to avoid silicones, these aren't the products for you. As for me, at the moment I don't feel the need to change my entire hair routine and going to the dark (green) side. To talk briefly about the ingredients, both shampoo and mask do not contain SLES, PEG and Parabens. The brand also stresses the presence of this seaweed, called Undaria Pinnatifida, which is supposed to help in the production of cheratin making the hair healthier and shiny (I wanna to point out though that this natural component is in the middle of the ingredient list and not at the beginning, so it doesn't do the job on its own).

Now. I'm in that position that makes me feel somehow uncomfortable. The fact is: I like these two products quite a lot. "Of course, you received them for free!" you might say but no, it's not because of that (I received other stuff from PRs that I didn't like) but it's that I do like them, honestly. They work like a charm with my hair and I can't deny it.

Prima di tutto, se siete alla ricerca di prodotti eco-bio e volete evitare come la peste (vade retro!) i siliconi, questi prodotti non fanno esattamente per voi. Per quanto mi riguarda invece, al momento non sento il bisogno di cambiare l'intero reparto 'cura dei capelli' e di passare al lato (verde) o-scuro.
Parlando brevemente degli ingredienti, entrambi shampoo e maschera non contengono SLES, PEG e parabeni. Il marchio sottolinea inoltre la presenza di quest'alga, che prende il nome di Undaria Pinnatifida, che dovrebbe avere lo scopo di aiutare la produzione di cheratina e di rendere quindi il capello più sano e lucente (vorrei però far presente che questo componente naturale si trova a metà della lista ingredienti e non all'inizio e che di conseguenza il lavoro sporco non lo svolge lui in primis).

Ora. Sono in quella posizione che mi rende in qualche modo in imbarazzo. Il fatto è che: questi due prodotti mi piacciono molto. "Eccèrto, te li hanno inviati gratis!" potrebbe dire qualcuno ma no, non è quello il motivo ovviamente (in passato ho ricevuto gratis anche cose, per me, ciofeche) ma è che onestamente mi ci trovo bene. Funzionano bene sui miei capelli e non posso negarlo.

For reference, this is my natural hair. That day I just came back from the swimmingpool and I washed it with Redken cleasing cream and a random conditioner. No styling products.
Per dare un'idea, questi sono i miei capelli al naturale. Quel giorno ero tornata dalla piscina e li avevo lavati col Cleansing Cream di Redken ed un balsamo random. Nessun prodotto per lo styling.

My hair is natural, never ever been dyed, and luckily it isn't picky nor high-maintenance. It's not dry but neither gets oily easily and I usually wash it once or twice a week. However, my hair tends to lack of volume and to frizz like crazy if not properly treated.

I miei capelli sono naturali che più naturali non si può, mai e poi mai stati tinti, e non richiedono troppe attenzioni né sono eccessivamente esigenti. Non sono secchi ma neppure grassi e di norma mi basta lavarli dall'una alle due volte a settimana. Tuttavia tendono a mancare di volume e ad essere molto crespi se non trattati.

My hair gets weighed down easily, even more so when the products used are supposed to provide hydration or nutrition. They usually leave my hair soft of course, but also limp and without body. So when I read the words 'reconstructing' and 'damaged hair' on the label I was like: "You'll see, my hair will have the same volume of overcooked spaghetti". But I'm glad to officially say that I was wrong.

I miei capelli si appesantiscono facilmente, ancor di più quando utilizzo quei prodotti pensati per essere idratanti o nutriente. Mi lasciano il capello morbido, certo, ma anche sfloscio e senza corpo. Sicché quando ho letto sull'etichetta le parole "ristrutturante" e "capelli danneggiati" sono partita già con un "Vedrai, i capelli avranno il volume di uno spaghetto scotto" ma sono lieta di annunciare (?) ufficialmente che mi sbagliavo.

Reconstructing Shampoo

"It gently washes without ruining hair's hydrolipidic film and imparts conditioning and extreme shine".

This reconstructing shampoo claims to detangle and make the hair shine and it's supposed to be suitable for a dry and stressed hair type. Though I'd say it's more suitable for mildly stressed and dry to normal hair.

It appears as a white creamy shampoo with a pleasant scent: I'm not good at describing fragrances, you'll already know that by now, but I'd call it a clean, fresh scent that doesn't smell like anything particular - not fruity, flowery nor yummy, it's just clean and simple but not too strong once the hair is dried. It also lathers up well and rinse off easily.

But I guess the main question is: how does it leave my hair?
Clean and not limp. It doesn't add body but neither weighs my hair down. I dare to throw the word 'volume' in here too. It also seems to me that my waves look a bit shinier (and not frizzed!).
What's also good, this shampoo doesn't make my hair get oily faster than normal.
All in all, I'm satisfied with it, it gets the job done.

Ciò che si prefigge di fare questo shampoo ristrutturante è di districare e rendere più lucido il capello ed è pensato per essere adatto a capelli secchi o danneggiati. Anche se personalmente lo vedrei meglio per una tipologia di capello poco stressato o che va da secco a normale.

Si presenta come uno shampoo bianco cremoso dall'odore piacevole: non sono brava a descrivere le profumazioni, ormai lo saprete uhm, ma questa la definirei 'di pulito', fresca in un certo senso, che non ricorda nessun odore particolare - non è fruttata, né floreale né dolce, è solo semplice e pulita e non troppo forte una volta che il capello è asciutto. Aggiungo pure che come shampoo fa una certa schiuma e si sciacqua via facilmente.

Ma presumo che la domanda principale sia: sì sì, tutto ciò è molto bello, ma come lascia i capelli?
Puliti e non flosci. Non aggiunge corpo ma non me li appesantisce neppure. Oso quasi buttarci in mezzo anche la parola 'volume' e mi sembra pure che li renda più lucidi (e non crespi!).
Altro punto a favore, questo shampoo fa sì che il capello mi resti pulito giorni, come da mio standard e non sento la necessità di fare lavaggi più frequenti.
In sostanza, ne sono soddisfatta e fa il suo lavoro.

Sì okay che non mi lascia i capelli senza la minima traccia di vita ma temevo comunque che l'abbinata shampoo+maschera fosse una trattamento troppo forte per i miei capelli non danneggiati, con l'effetto di una mancanza totale di volume. Mi sbagliavo di nuovo.

Hello summer weather! Hello face with no foundation but with blemishes instead!

Reconstructing Mask

"Imparts strong hydration and leaves hair detangled, easy combing, soft and volumized"

This mask has a thick consistency while, unlike the shampoo, doesn't have a noticeable smell to me.
It claims to soften and volumize dry and damaged hair even though I can see it working better on normal to dry hair, rather on the seriously damaged one. It has however a stronger action than the paired shampoo and because of that I don't use it more than 2-3 times a month.

I usually apply a small amount to the length and comb it through my hair, leave it on for just a couple of minutes, as recommended on the label, and then rinse it off. When dried my hair feels soft and with volume. Rather than from the roots, this mask gives me volume to the length and the result is a sort of lift, a voluminous and quite smooth mane despite my frizzy hair.

Questa maschera ha una consistenza densa mentre, altra differenza rispetto allo shampoo, non noto abbia un particolare odore.
Il suo scopo è di idratare, rendere morbidi e volumizzare i capelli secchi e danneggiati, anche se la vedo funzionare meglio sui capelli da normali a secchi, piuttosto che molto stressati. Ha un'azione più intensa rispetto allo shampoo (era ovvio ma vabbè) e per questo non la utilizzo più di 2-3 volte al mese.

Ne applico una noce sulle lunghezze, che passo poi a pettinare. Lascio in posa un paio di minuti, come consigliato sulla confezione, e in seguito risciacquo. Una volta asciutti i capelli sono morbidi devo dire e con volume visibile. Più che dalla base, è una maschera che dona volume sulla lunghezza ed il risultato è in un certo senso vaporoso - e non crespo!

What, when, where, how much?

These are part of the (relatively) new Guam UPKer haircare line. The Reconstructing Shampoo retails for 13.50€ for a bottle of 200ml. The Reconstructing mask costs 16.50€ and the tube contains 150ml of product. Here is a list of international retailers.

To sum up, since my hair isn't damaged - just a little stressed by blow drying at the most - I can't tell how they perform in the 'reconstructing matter'. If your hair tends to get oily easily, these aren't products I'd recommend to you. In case your hair is seriously damaged by bleaching and such, I'm afraid these two products wouldn't deliver enough nourishment and hydration and you might want to look for stronger treatments. But on the other hand, if you have slightly stressed hair or even quite normal hair and you'd like a hydration and volume boost, then these might work for you. As for volume, softness and shine, they get the job done well for me - specially the mask.

Per fare il punto della situazione, dal momento che i miei capelli non sono danneggiati - al massimo stressati dal calore del phon - non posso dire come entrambi i prodotti si comportino sul piano ristrutturante. Se i vostri capelli tendono a sporcarsi facilmente e ad essere grassi, questi non sono prodotti che vi consiglio. In caso il vostro capello sia parecchio danneggiato da decolorazioni o simili, temo che non siano prodotti che possano fornirvi l'idratazione e il nutrimento necessari e potreste voler cercare altrove dei trattamenti di maggior urto. Dall'altra parte invece, se avete un capello un po' stressato o normale e cercate quell'idratazione e quel volume in più, potrebbero fare al caso vostro. Per quanto riguarda il volume, la morbidezza e la lucentezza, per me compiono il loro lavoro - specialmente la maschera.

The sweater weather outside, tens cups of steamy tea a week and finally the annual Lush haul. Now the transition to the fall mood is complete for me.

To be honest I went a little crazy on Lush also this year with not one, but two shopping sprees. Lord of Misrule is the ballistic they came out with for Halloween and one of the few products I took home with me in my first Lush tour.

Tempo di maglioni fuori, decine di tazze di the alla settimana e infine l'ordine annuale da Lush. Ora il passaggio all'atmosfera invernale per me è completo.
Ecco ad essere sincera mi è presa un po' la meno pure quest'anno con non uno, ma due sessioni di shopping da Lush. Intrighi e Misteri è la ballistica che è uscita in occasione della collezione Halloween ed è uno dei prodotti che ho portato a casa con me nel primo giro in negozio.

"This bath bomb, named after the ruler of the Pagan Feast of Fools, has a strange and magnificent fragrance created by Gorilla Perfumer Simon Constantine. This bomb will slowly dissolve to reveal a wine coloured centre, with the added sweetness of the world’s first fair trade vanilla absolute, perfectly balanced by the earthy scents of black pepper and patchouli oil"

This ballistic is huge. Nevertheless despite the size I prefer not to break in two those ballistics that have multicolored layers inside, like this one, but that's just a personal preference.

Once in the water the mint green surface started to slowly dissolve and color the water green. After a little while the ballistic started to spin revealing a magenta colored heart which, mixed with the green, made the water wine red.

Lush is right on this: this ballistic dissolves very slowly. I'd suggest to put in your tub once you are already in and to enjoy the swirls, the colors and the scent, as it took about 10 minutes for mine to completely dissolve.

As for the scent, according to the description didn't sound like something I'd have liked (not the biggest fan of patchouli here) but actually I did. I couldn't catch well defined patchouli notes but the whole blend was earthy but not spicy - I suppose it's the mixture with vanilla, but the scent wasn't sweet either. I found it pleasant and soothing. Keep in mind the smell will linger on your skin - and in your bath - for hours. But it's not overwhelming if you ask me.

Another bonus: this ballistic didn't stain the tub at all.

Lush swears there are popping candies in it but to be honest I didn't realize that before reading the official description. And that was after using Lord of Misrule. Not even a shy 'pop'. Which is not a big deal for me, this may happen when products are hand made after all, but it's worth to point it out.

Questa ballistica è grande. Però nonostante la dimensione preferisco sempre non rompere in due quelle ballistiche che hanno al loro interno degli strati colorati, come questa appunto, ma è solo una mia preferenza.
Una volta nell'acqua, la superficie verde inizia a sciogliersi lentamente e a colorare l'acqua di verde, appunto (sorpresona!). Dopo un po' la ballistica ha iniziato a ruotare su se stessa rivelando un cuore interno di color magenta che, mescolato al verde, ha reso l'acqua rosso vino.
Lush inoltre ha ragione su questo punto: Intrighi e Misteri si scioglie molto lentamente. Suggerirei di metterla nella vasca una volta che ci si è già immersi e di godersi i colori, le giravolte ed il profumo da lì, visto che la mia ha impiegato qualcosa come 10 minuti per dissolversi completamente.

Per quanto riguarda la profumazione, stando alla descrizione non suonava come qualcosa che mi sarebbe potuto piacere (non sono esattamente una gran estimatrice di patchouli) ma in realtà non mi è dispiaciuta affatto. Non ho colto delle note di patchouli ben definite ma l'aroma generale era caldo ma non speziato e pungente - immagino per il mix con la vaniglia, per quanto l'odore non fosse neppure dolce. L'ho trovato piacevole e rilassante. Da tenere comunque a mente che è un profumo che permane sulla pelle - e nel bagno - per qualche ora, ma non è fastidioso a mio avviso.
Un altro bonus: questa ballistica non ha macchiato per nulla la vasca.

Lush inoltre giura che ci siano "zuccherini scoppiettanti" all'interno ma ad essere onesta non me ne sono accorta finché non ho letto la descrizione ufficiale. Il che è stato dopo aver usato Intrighi e Misteri. Neppure un leggero "pop". Non è un gran problema in fin dei conti e ciò può accadere quando i prodotti sono realizzati a mano, ma è il caso di sottolinearlo.

All in all I liked this ballistic even though I didn't love it to pieces (my beloved Golden Wonder, you're still the n°1). But Lord of Misrule is surely nice to try if you don't mind deeping your toes in a wine colored water. The show it puts on lasts for a while and the scent is definitely better than it may sound from the official description.

Nel complesso questa ballistica mi è piaciuta anche se non l'ho amata alla follia (Golden Wonder mia adorata, resti la n°1 non temere). È comunque piacevole da provare e merita se non vi dispiace l'idea di immergervi in un'acqua scura color vino. Lo spettacolo di colori che mette in scena dura per un po' ed il profumo è decisamente meglio di ciò che sembra dalla descrizione.

Today I'm talking about a limited edition palette that's all the rage among the italian beauty community and I want to be sure to upload this post before the palette is sold out. Con una velocità sorprendente, in soli 2 giorni ho ordinato e ricevuto il mio ordine Neve con la palette creata da Giuliana di Makeup Delight, la quale non credo abbia bisogno di troppe presentazioni ma nel qual caso questo è il suo canale Youtube. La palette è in edizione limitata e pertanto non mi è possibile prendere tutto il tempo necessario per farne una review - il post arriverebbe sicuramente a palette già esaurita - e quindi questo sarà un post di primissime impressioni, prendetele quindi con le dovute pinze perché non ho ancora avuto modo di provare tutto come si deve.

A caldo, appena l'ho aperta mi sono autotirata una pacca sulla spalla per l'acquisto ("Brava Ale, hai sperperato bene il danaro stavolta"): è molto più bella dal vivo di quanto non appaia nelle immagini promozionali e per me ed i miei bisogni, confermo, è una palette che ha una sua completezza e i cui colori possono essere abbinati più facilmente tra loro di quanto non sembri. Certo ha bisogno di essere appoggiata da altri ombretti (penso alla Naked Basics, nel mio caso) ma non trovo che i colori siano stati cacciati dentro eccessivamente a caso e slegati. Anzi, forse personalmente preferisco una palette colorata come questa che contenga un po' di tutto e non solo una gamma cromatica e che preveda qualche colore più "neutrale" (penso ai marroni o al grigio) da combinare: un membro tesserato del club dei marroni come la sottoscritta, che non è solita usare colori sgargianti, apprezza tale cosa. Forse l'apprezzerà un po' meno chi usa abitualmente molti colori o sfrutta palette come la Intensissimi di Neve o chi predilige colori freddi, visto che questa palette è spiccatamente calda - fatta eccezione per Casa Delight e It's a Boy.

Concept

A me il concept personale di Giuliana dietro la palette è piaciuto molto. Il video di presentazione è questo: ogni colore rappresenta sostanzialmente un evento, un luogo importante, un simbolo che fa parte della sua vita - che è la base da cui sarei partita anch'io avendo, per assurdo, la possibilità di comporre una palette.

Impressioni

Non avevo ancora provato degli ombretti in cialda di Neve ma qualitativamente parlando sono rimasta colpita. La costante della palette è la pigmentazione, che sfreccia alle stelle per toni più satinati come Tacco 12, Jet Lag, Trinacria ed anche Pacifico. La texture è abbastanza setosa: con certi pennelli si solleva un po' di polvere nelle cialde ma l'effetto applicato non è affatto polveroso e la texture è semplice da lavorare.

"Tacco 12 marrone freddo con satinatura rosso bordeaux. Lipsafe e Vegan".
Tacco 12 è tra i miei preferiti di tutta la palette. Ma non è freddo, per nulla. È un marrone molto caldo con una leggera sfumatura bordeaux. È estremamente pigmentato e non cambia particolarmente la resa con l'uso del primer o meno.

"Pacifico duochrome grigio scuro trasparente con perlescenza verde mare e riflessi verde chiaro. Lipsafe e Vegan.".
Ecco, nel mio neurone un cosiddetto duochrome è un po' diverso (presente Club di MAC?) ma Pacifico resta un altro tra i miei preferiti. Un verde satinato con riflessi verde chiaro su una base scura. È discretamente shimmer ma bellissimo e lo vedo bene soprattutto su una base nera ed utilizzato bagnato.

"Casa Delight lilla acceso intenso dal finish vellutato. Vegan".
Se mi aveste chiesto mesi fa se avrei mai indossato un colore simile, probabilmente vi avrei risposto di no. E invece. Casa Delight è un viola freddo acceso ma con un pizzico di rosso all'interno: è uno di quei colori che la macchina fotografica fa sempre fatica a cogliere veritiero ed anche la mia non c'è riuscita. Presente gli swatches qua sopra dove sembra quasi blu? Ecco, non è così. Il colore reale di Casa Delight è quello che vedete nel makeup realizzato più sotto e quello che si nota nel look di Giuliana nella cartolina di presentazione, applicato sulla palpebra inferiore. Fidatevi di come appare nei due look più che negli swatch.
Ha un finish semi opaco e necessita di un primer per rendere al meglio. Se lo applicate bagnato lo migliorate ancor di più.

"Texas marrone paprika caldo satinato. Lipsafe e Vegan".
Un altro marrone nella palette ma ben diverso da Tacco 12. Sempre caldo anche questo ma meno appariscente del primo, vuoi anche per il finish che è molto meno satinato e privo di riflessi.

"Biker Chic grigio asfalto dal finish opaco. Lipsafe e Vegan".
Non ero entusiasmata da questo colore all'inizio, ma questo prima che lo provassi. È una sfumatura di grigio bilanciata (nulla a che vedere con Gunmetal di Urban Decay, se avete la Naked1) che su di me tira fuori anche una leggera punta taupe ed è un buon colore per la piega dell'occhio o per sfumare alcuni ombretti della palette. Finish opaco, pigmentazione buona ma modulabile.

"Jet Lag rosa scuro aranciato con riflessi fucsia, finish satinato. Lipsafe e Vegan".
Jet Lag è un colore difficile da descrivere ma le parole di Neve calzano, anche se di riflessi fucsia non mi sembra di averne colti ma dovrei provarlo anche bagnato per esserne certa al 100%.
È pigmentatissimo ma si sfuma facilmente, ha un finish estremamente satinato quasi metallico e Giuliana ha affermato di averlo pensato anche come blush.

"It's a Boy! blu cobalto intenso dal finish satinato. Vegan".
Nulla da aggiungere alla descrizione ufficiale sul colore. Ha un finish satinato e dà il suo meglio sopra un primer - e usato bagnato. Pigmentazione molto buona.

"Trinacria arancione intenso dal finish satinato. Lipsafe e Vegan".
Anche Trinacria è molto satinato ed è un'altra tonalità che vedo sfruttabile come blush e non solo come ombretto, per quanto molto calda. Pigmentazione altissima ma che non ne compromette la sfumabilità.

"Route 66 beige sabbia chiaro rosato dal finish shimmer. Lipsafe e Vegan".
Questo è il più sheer di tutti e presumo sia stato pensato per essere tale, quindi non gliene faccio un punto a sfavore. La base è molto chiara, sheer nella pigmentazione e con shimmer sparsi. Giuliana suggerisce di usarlo come illuminante ma personalmente non lo vedo bene a tale scopo: mi piacciono gli illuminanti totalmente privi di shimmer visibili e che depositano solo un effetto luce omogeneo. Resta comunque un ombretto carino da usare su tutta la palpebra per un trucco "nudo" ma con quel quid in più.

"Monterey verde muschio medio dal finish opaco. Vegan".
Ancora non sono convinta di questo colore e devo capire come sfruttarlo. Un verde muschio dallo stesso finish semi opaco di Biker Chic ed una pigmentazione discreta.

Comparazioni!

S-D: Rouge Bunny Rouge Bejewelled Skylark, Tacco 12

Ho poi capito perché Tacco 12 lo trovavo così bello. Assomiglia un po' a quello splendido ombretto di Rouge Bunny Rouge che è Bejewelled Skylark. Tacco 12 ha forse dei riflessi più luminosi ed è meno intenso ma stiamo pur sempre parlando di un ombretto da 24 euro sonanti contro una cialda a meno 3€ e non ci si può lamentare direi. Se quella in foto non fosse una singola passata di Bejewelled (no primer) e non fosse tanto eccelso, mi lamenterei di quest'ultimo ;)

S-D: Urban Decay Sin, Route 66, Urban Decay Virgin, Urban Decay Sidecar

Route 66 non è simile a nessun ombretto 'illuminante' tra quelli in mio possesso. Sia per gli shimmer che sono in minor quantità rispetto a quelli di Sidecar ed anche meno amalgamati alla base, sia per la tonalità color sabbia.

Trinacria as blush

Non lasciatevi spaventare dal finish perché Trinacria tanto rasenta il metallico usato come ombretto, quanto muta in un finish leggermente satinato una volta sfumato ed applicato come blush.
La cialda, come detto, ha una pigmentazione molto alta quindi se siete chiare di carnagione come la sottoscritta è sufficiente appoggiare appena il pennello.

Jet Lag come blush

Jet Lag è il tono da blush suggerito da Giuliana. Vale lo stesso discorso di Trinacria: finish ancor più satinato e quasi metallico in questo caso ma che non vi farà risplendere la guancia come una palla da discoteca. Anzi, una volta sfumato assume un finish satinato e molto portabile. Nessuno shimmer in vista, solo un tono che scalda il viso con un effetto "salute". La pigmentazione è molto alta e basta anche in questo caso poco prodotto.

Vorrei aver più tempo un po' per provare ogni singola cialda più nel dettaglio e con più calma, un po' per poter ricreare vari makeup e magari postarveli in un momento di intenso sadismo (barra masochismo forse), ma il fatto che sia una palette che sembra spopolare e che sia un'edizione limitata mi ha fatta correre alla velocità della luce. In caso rimanesse in stock ancora per molto, vedrò di aggiornare il post con altri look o altre impressioni, qualora queste cambiassero.
Nel frattempo questo è il makeup che ho fotografato e che vi mostro per farvi capire che se sono riuscita io a non sembrare un panda sotto acidi, potete farcela sicuramente anche voi.
(sì sì è lungi dall'essere perfetto ma non sono una mecapp artist e sono pur sempre un membro del club marronazzi, siate clementi).
(sì sì n°2, ho spudoratamente copiato il look promozionale di Giuliana, e col senno di poi aggiungerei una linea di eyeliner ed un punto luce nell'angolo interno).
Update: per rispondere anche qui a chi se lo stesse chiedendo, a me il blu e il viola non hanno macchiato la palpebra, ma considerate che ho usato un primer.

Cosa, dove, quando, a quanto?

La Makeup Delight palette è un'edizione limitata acquistabile su Neve Cosmetics o dai rivenditori, non saranno quindi disponibile le singole cialde.
Ogni cialda è di 36mm e contiene 3g di prodotto (il doppio di un refill Mac). Tutti gli ombretti sono inoltre vegani e, com'è consuetudine di Neve, sono naturali e non contengono siliconi, parabeni o petrolati.
Il prezzo è di 33,80€ ma è attualmente in promozione a 29,90€, che facendo un rapido conto equivale a 3€ a cialda ma pure meno considerando la palette (che da vuota sul sito costa 7,50€).

Il trucco col primer mi è durato fino a sera senza infilarsi in pieghe anche se i colori dopo poche ore non erano più brillanti, ma non mi aspetto la stessa prestazione di un ombretto con le cosiddette "schifezze". Considerando il prezzo di una cialda, la pigmentazione e la sfumabilità generale, sono ombretti con un rapporto qualità/prezzo davvero elevato e che così a caldo, su due piedi, mi sentirei di consigliare.

Possibly the nail polish I wear the most in wintertime and one of my favorites. I loved it last year and after a year I'm still in love with it. Gorgeous color, great formula.

È forse lo smalto che più indosso nel periodo invernale nonché uno dei miei preferiti. L'ho adorato lo scorso anno e ancora lo adoro un anno dopo. Bellissimo colore, ottima formula.

Uno smalto color lampone scuro con un leggero effetto shimmer ed una formula valida. Un po' natalizio a causa dello shimmer dorato ma neanche troppo - per me è uno smalto adatto anche ad una stagione più calda, ma sapete che state parlando con la cara e vecchia Ale che abbina determinati colori alla stagione e alle condizioni atmosferiche. I'm all into berry, strawberry, red hues lately but Florita it's not a new addition in my arsenal. I received it in september and it's one of the blushes I've been using the most since then.I'd like to review it in details but in case you're drooling over it and wondering whether it's worth the splurge or not as a christmas present: yes, it is. Pigmented, blendable, smooth, silky, velvety. I could go on singing its praises.

Ultimamente sono dentro fino al collo in sfumature lampone, rosso, bacca, fragola ma Florita non è un arrivo recente nel mio arsenale. L'ho ricevuto in settembre e da allora è diventato uno di quei blush che più sto sfruttando. Vorrei farne una recensione apposita ma in caso stiate copiosamente sbavando su di lui e vi stiate chiedendo se vale la spesa per un regalo di natale oppure no: sì, la vale. Pigmentato, sfumabile, setoso, vellutato. Potrei andare avanti a decantarne le lodi.

YSL Glossy Stain 23 Fuchsia Cubiste
Such an underrated shade among the YSL glossy stains. I don't hear much rumor about it but if you love berry tones I suggest to swatch Fuchsia Cubiste and judge its beauty by yourself.
The name itself isn't really the best description and appears misleading since we're in front of a true, deep berry color which hasn't never met fuchsia before. Super glossy and extremely long lasting, it lives up to the hype surrounding YSL glossy stain.

Una tonalità per me molto sottovalutata tra i Glossy Stain YSL. Non ne sento molto parlare ma se siete amanti delle sfumature berry, vi suggerisco di swatchare Fuchsia Cubiste e di giudicare da voi il livello della sua beltade. Il nome stesso in realtà non è una buona descrizione e appare fuorviante, dal momento che siamo al cospetto di un color berry pieno e dai richiami un po' scuri, che il fucsia non l'ha neppure mai incontrato. È super lucido e durevole, tiene fede alla fama dei Glossy Stain.

The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle body butter

"Oh free shipping on The Body Shop website. Let's throw in the cart a mini set of this Ginger Sparkle thing. Better not to risk with the full size". My question now is: why on earth I didn't order the biggest size of this delicious fragrance? Which also included a cute giant gingerbread man-shaped tin, by the way. It's zesty but not too much, balanced with a touch of sweetness that makes the overall scent warm rather than fresh. I do like it. However don't let the cute gingerbread guy on the pot fools you as this doesn't smell of festive cookies or something sweet and edible like that.

"Oh guarda c'è la spedizione gratuita sul sito The Body Shop. Dai, mettiamo nel carrello un mini set di questa cosa allo Zenzero Brioso. Meglio non rischiare con la full size". Ora la mia domanda è: perché, perché non ho ordinato la confezione grande di questa fragranza che non mi aspettavo così buona? La quale includeva pure una scatola di latta a forma di omino biscottino, tra l'altro. L'odore è un po' aspro e frizzante ma non eccessivamente, bilanciato con una nota dolce che rende il profumo generale caldo piuttosto che fresco. Mi piace molto. Non lasciatevi tuttavia trarre in inganno dall'omino pan di zenzero sul vasetto visto che non odora di biscotti natalizi o qualche dolce commestibile su quella scia.

Un po' in ritardo come sempre (o addirittura più del solito stavolta), questi erano i preferiti di novembre. Ma in merito ai vostri? Provato qualcuno di questi anche voi per caso?

Before the Christmas season passes by - I don't know about you, but for me after Christmas the word 'festive' usually leaves space for the words 'exam session at uni' and I soon forget all the Jingle Bells - I'd like to talk about a scented body set that I've been enjoying a lot and that could also be a nice idea for a last minute and inexpensive Christmas gift.

Prima che il periodo natalizio ci abbandoni - non so voi, ma per me dopo il Natale la parola 'festività' di solito lascia posto alle parole 'sessione d'esami' e mi scordo in fretta di tutti i Jingle Bell - vorrei parlare di un set corpo che mi sta piacendo parecchio e che potrebbe anche essere un'idea per un regalo last minute e poco dispendioso.

The mini kit could be a nice gift for Christmas and can also be hung on the Christmas tree by a yellow ribbon - which is actually the ribbon of the bath poof you find inside the box. The set included two mini sizes of the shower gel and the body butter as well as the said bath lily in a matching color.

As I said in this post, I read many rave reviews about this specific fragrance but I didn't dare buying the mega set with full size products because I was afraid I wouldn't love the scent this much and I prefer not to get overwhelmed by unused products (they call it conscience). Now I regret I didn't though. I didn't know if to expect a too citrussy and spicy scent or a sweet and edible-like one.
Ginger Sparkle turned out to be something in between, according to my nose at least. Something I do like, too.

When I think about ginger, I think about a zingy, pungent and zesty smell. Ginger Sparkle is zingy indeed and above all zesty (clearly they call it 'sparkle' for a reason) but there's a touch of sweetness to it that balances the overall fragrance - without making it sickly sweet at the same time. These aren't products I would personally use in spring or summer, as the fragrance has a certain warmth to it anyway, but I can't say they are strictly wintery in general.
The smell doesn't make me think of gingerbread men or Christmas biscuits - like the print on the label may let you think - but if I have to describe Ginger Sparkle through something edible, then I'd say it reminds of those Haribo gummy candies that taste like Cola and lemon. Really, the very first thing coming to my mind when I took a sniff of this TBS set were those frizz candies. A bit artifical maybe, but not overly so. The overall scent on the skin in this case is not too expected but very pleasant to me and doesn't make you smell like the said candies.
Here there's the right balance between zesty and sweet.

Il mini kit può essere appunto un regalo natalizio e può anche essere appeso all'albero da un nastrino giallo - che in realtà altro non è che il nastro del fiocco da doccia che si trova all'interno della confezione. Il set comprende due mini taglie del gel doccia e del burro corpo, oltre alla suddetta spugna in un colore abbinato.

Come dicevo in questo post, ho letto molte review positive in merito a questa profumazione ma non mi sono tuttavia azzardata ad acquistare il mega set coi prodotti full size poiché temevo che non mi sarebbe piaciuta a tal punto e preferisco sempre non venir sommersa da prodotti non usati (la chiamano coscienza, dicono). E però ora me ne pento. Non sapevo se aspettarmi un profumo troppo agrumato e speziato o dolce da mangiare. Zenzero Brioso alla fine è qualcosa a mezza via, stando almeno al mio senso dell'olfatto. Qualcosa che mi piace davvero molto, pure.

Quando penso allo zenzero, penso ad un odore speziato, pungente e frizzante. Zenzero Brioso è speziato, appunto, e soprattutto frizzante (lo chiamano Brioso non a caso) ma v'è una nota dolce che bilancia la fragranza generale - senza renderla al contempo dolce in modo stucchevole. Non sono prodotti che personalmente userei in primavera o estate visto che il profumo dona un'idea di 'calore' metaforico, ma non posso comunque dire che sia strettamente invernale.
L'odore non mi fa pensare agli omini pan di zenzero o ai biscotti di Natale - come l'immagine sull'etichetta potrebbe far credere - ma se devo descrivere Zenzero Brioso con qualcosa di commestibile, allora direi che mi ricorda quelle caramelle Haribo frizzanti che sanno di Coca-Cola e limone. Davvero, la prima cosa che mi è venuta in mente quando ho sentito il profumo del set sono state quelle caramelle. Una cosa un po' artificiale forse, ma neanche troppo: l'odore definitivo sulla pelle in questo caso non è banale ma molto piacevole a mio avviso e non vi fa comunque profumare di caramelle. Qui c'è il giusto equilibrio tra speziato e dolce.

Ginger Sparkle Body butter

I don't know how this compares to other The Body Shop body butters since it's the first one from the brand I have the chance to try, but as for the consistency it's a creamy but firm butter. It's not that super soft creamy texture that slides and moves inside its pot and you have to scoop this one out. However it spreads very easily on the skin and it's a pleasure to apply. It absorbs very quickly and you can get dressed just a couple of minutes later - definitely a bonus in winter.
If your skin is very dry I'm afraid this product wouldn't be moisturizing enough, but if your skin type is normal to dry instead, it gets the job done. My skin is normal to dry, indeed, and I find this body butter good for autumn and winter. Although isn't a product specific for severe dryness and I'd place it in the "quite moisturizing but above all scented and pampering" zone, it manages to hydrate my skin for a day. The scent is also persistent and I can take whiff of it until a couple of hours later.

Non so come sia rispetto agli altri burri corpo The Body Shop dal momento che è il primo che ho occasione di provare, ma per quanto riguarda la consistenza, è un burro cremoso sì, ma fermo. Non ha quelle texture cremose molto morbide che viaggiano e si spostano all'interno del barattolo, questo deve essere prelevato man mano. Tuttavia si stende molto facilmente sulla pelle ed è un piacere da applicare. Si assorbe inoltre in fretta e ci si può rivestire anche un paio di minuti dopo - cosa che è sempre un bonus in più in inverno.
Se la vostra pelle è molto secca, temo questo non sia sufficientemente idratante, ma se invece la vostra tipologia di pelle è normale o secca, in quel caso il suo lavoro lo svolge. La mia è appunto da normale a secca e trovo che questo burro corpo sia adatto al periodo autunnale o invernale. Sebbene non sia un prodotto ultra specifico per grandi problemi di secchezza e per quanto lo posizionerei nella zona "idratante q.b. ma soprattutto profumato e sfizioso" (ho scritto veramente la parola sfizioso? Passiamo oltre, dicevo), riesce nonostante tutto a mantenere la pelle idrata per l'intera giornata.
Il profumo è inoltre persistente e riesco a percepirne qualche nota fino ad un paio d'ore dopo l'applicazione.

Shower gel

Reviewing shower gel is not the most easy thing to write about on a beauty blog, mainly because I'm not good at describing scents (as you may have seen above) and also because sometimes I have no idea what to say about it. Ginger Sparkle is no exception, though it's part of the set so it deserves its minute of fame too.
The scent is quite strong but not overwhelming and it's even more sparkling and zesty than the body butter. The shower gel lathers up well and, what I always appreciate when it comes to this sort of products, it lingers on the skin for a while, even if subtly.

Recensire un bagnoschiuma non è la cosa più semplice di cui scrivere su un biuti blogghe, soprattutto perché non sono capace nelle descrizioni delle fragranze (come avrete intuito leggendo sopra) ed anche perché talvolta non ho idea di cosa dire. Zenzero Brioso non fa eccezione ma è parte del set anche lui e quindi si merita il suo minuto di fama.
Il profumo è abbastanza forte ma non fastidioso ed è ancor più frizzante del burro corpo. Il gel doccia fa una discreta quantità di schiuma e, cosa che apprezzo sempre quando si tratta di questa tipologia di prodotti, profuma la pelle per un po', anche se in modo leggero.

What, where, when, how much?

Ginger Sparkle is a limited edition collection that The Body Shops releases during holiday season.
This mini Shower & Moisture cube set retails for 7£ and it's available on www.thebodyshop.com. However every product is also sold individually and full sized. The shower gel is 4£ for 250ml while the body butter costs 13£ and comes in a 200ml pot.

Zenzero Brioso è una collezione a edizione limitata che The Body Shop lancia durante la stagione natalizia. Questo mini set costa 9€ e purtroppo non è più disponibile sul sito internet ma immagino che nei (pochi purtroppo) negozi fisici possa essere ancora presente. Ogni prodotto è però venduto anche singolarmente e in formato full. Il gel doccia costa 7€ per 250ml mentre il burro corpo ha un prezzo di 17€ e si presenta in una confezione da 200ml.

I have eczema on three small areas on my legs and some products make those itchy and irritated but luckily I didn't have any sort of problem with both of these.
I'm going to finish up the body butter in 4 applications or so, and I regret I didn't buy a bigger version of it during the free shipping promotion on TBS website. Either way, if TBS will come out with Ginger Sparkle again, I know what to buy next year for pampering myself during the holiday season.

Sulle gambe ho tre piccole aree eczematiche e alcuni prodotti mi creano irritazione mista ad un prurito che buonanotte. Ma con questi non ho fortunatamente avuto alcun problema di sorta.
Finirò il burro corpo in più o meno 4 applicazioni credo e mi pento, oh mi pento, di non averne acquistata la versione più grande durante la promozione della spedizione gratuita. Comunque sia, se TBS riproporrà nuovamente Zenzero Brioso, diciamo che so cosa acquistare il prossimo anno per la stagione delle feste.
Voi avete provato qualche edizione natalizia di The Body Shop? Quale preferite?

Notice: I have no idea why, when and how but it seems the Feed RSS of dottedaround have been messed up, so that's the reason why you couldn't see updates on Bloglovin', Feedly or whatever you'd like to use that works through RSS. I'm trying to figure out what is going on and to fix it.

A good blogger would kick off the year with highlights of 2013 or a round up of favorites but apparently I'm not that good. A list of favorites will come in the near future don't worry (supposing someone was actually worrying about that, which I doubt) but lately the weather has been awful, with gray sky and rainy days, which is quite the blogger nightmare for taking photos - not to mention swatches.
Either way, it's been too long since my last post so, kinda inspired by Lush sales starting years ago here, I thought I'd write a review of two Lush products I've been relly liking.
If this post would have a subheading, that would be Rose Garden Heaven.

Avviso: non ho idea del perché, quando e come ma sembra che i Feed RSS di dottedaround abbiano qualche problema ed è questo il motivo per cui potreste non vedere gli avvisi dei nuovi post su Bloglovin', Feedly o qualunque cosa preferiate usare che funzioni mediante RSS. Una brava blogger darebbe il via al nuovo anno con un post sui momenti salienti del 2013 o un riassunto dei preferiti ma a quanto pare non sono poi così brava. Una lista dei preferiti arriverà a breve non temete (ammettendo che qualcuno temesse l'assenza di quel post, cosa di cui dubito fortemente) ma negli ultimi giorni il tempo non è stato celemente, con cielo grigio e piovoso, che è poi l'incubo-blogger quando si tratta di scattare foto - per non parlare degli swatch.
Comunque sia, è passato forse un po' troppo dal mio ultimo post e quindi, ispirata dai saldi di Lush iniziati pochi giorni fa, ho pensato di parlare di due prodotti Lush che mi stanno piacendo parecchio.
Tra l'altro, se questo post avesse un sottotitolo sarebbe una bimbominchiata tipo 'il paradiso delle rose' o simili. Ma per fortuna non ce l'ha.

Scent

Rose Jam shower gel and Ro's Argan body conditioner share the exact same amazing rose scent.
It's like rolling over a rose petal carpet and breathing deeply. Lush managed to recreate a true rose scent that doesn't smell artificial but at the same time is strong enough to be detected - unlike many rose scented products whose fragrance is pretty subtle and evanescent more often than not.
Don't think about those overly sweet rosy scents because this is not the case: the fragrance is made of rose absolute and rose oil from rosa damascena but the whole is balanced with sicilian lemon oil. Resulting in my favorite rose scent of all time as well as in a kind of 'fresh' rosy blend - think of that old lady, expected rose perfume...well, this is the opposite. I usually like rose fragrances but I've never been a huge fan of them, nevertheless this one has surprised me since the first sniff.

Il gel doccia Regina di Rose (Rose Jam) e il balsamo corpo Regina di Rose (Ro's Argan) oltre al nome italiano hanno in comune anche lo stesso buonissimo odore.
È come rotolarsi su un tappeto di petali di rosa ed inspirare profondamente. Lush qua è riuscito a ricreare un profumo reale di rose che non sa di artificiale ma che al contempo è sufficientemente intenso da essere ben riconosciuto - al contrario di molti prodotti che profumano di rosa la cui fragranza è spesso molto leggera ed evanescente.
Non immaginatevi quei profumi alla rosa tremendamente dolci perché non è questo il caso: la fragranza contiene essenza assoluta di rosa e olio essenziale di rosa di Damasco ma il tutto è bilanciato dalla presenza dell'olio essenziale di limone. Il risultato è il profumo alla rosa che più preferisco nonché una mix alla rosa con un accenno di 'freschezza' - sì insomma, presente quelle fragranze di rosa che sanno di sciura over 60 e sono banali e trite e ritrite? Ecco, questo è l'opposto. Solitamente mi piace il profumo di rosa ma non ne sono una fan accanita, eppure questo in particolare mi ha sorpresa dalla prima scia di profumo sentita.

Most of what I could tell you about the shower gel (the scent) has already been told above.
I can add that Rose Jam contains Goji berry juice and vanilla pod infusion as well as argan oil, which is supposed to help nourishing the skin - something that those with normal to dry or dry skin like me always appreciate (or at least, I do appreciate it!).

By the way, Lush, you need to make this one permanent, trust me.
It lathers up quite nicely and the fragrance (hooray!) lingers on the skin for a while, even if I love to pair this shower gel with the product down below.

La maggior parte di ciò che potrei dire sul gel doccia (la profumazione) l'ho già detta poco sopra. Però posso aggiungere che Regina di Rose contiene anche succo di bacche di goji, infuso di stecche di vaniglia così come olio di argan, che dovrebbe aiutare a nutrire la pelle - un qualcosa che coloro che hanno una pelle da normale a secca o secca, tipo me, apprezzano sempre (o almeno, io l'apprezzo eh).
Tra l'altro, Lush, io direi che devi rendere permanente questo gel doccia, fidatidimme.
Forma inoltre una giusta quantità di schiuma e il profumo (olé!) resta sulla pelle per un po', anche se preferisco abbinargli il prodotto qua sotto.

Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

Due to the scent previously described, as soon as I got a whiff of it I was blown away. Moreover it's been a long while since the last time I purchased a body conditioner - Nivea? Dove? I don't even remember the brand - and I liked how time saver it was. However I liked much less the high percentage of paraffinum liquidum/mineral oil in it, which obviously gave my skin an illusion of softness and hydration but didn't actually provide them.

So a body conditioner with good ingredients that smells like rose bushes in Heaven sounded really promising.

Visto il profumo precedentemente descritto, appena ho sentito questo è scattato il "ah beh allora lo prendo - prima o poi". In più era passato molto tempo, anni e anni, dall'ultima volta che ho acquistato un balsamo corpo - Nivea? Dove? Non ricordo neppure il brand - e ricordo che mi piaceva la praticità e il tempo che faceva risparmiare. Mi piaceva molto meno però l'alta percentuale di paraffina all'interno, che ovviamente dava l'illusione alla pelle di essere morbida ed idratata ma senza renderla realmente tale. E fu così che un balsamo corpo con ingredienti buoni, e che profuma di cespugli di rose in modo paradisiaco, mi è suonato promettente.

Ro's Argan (named after its inventor Rowena) is an extremely creamy lotion jam packed with nourishing ingredients like almond oil, argan oil, shea butter and brazil nut oil.

You're supposed to use it as you would do with an hair conditioner: apply it, wait a minute or two and then rinse it off.

It spreads absolutely well on the skin and a little goes a quite long way.

Once I get out of the shower I'm ready to get dressed without bothering with the all "moisturize and wait for it to absorb" thing.

However, keep in mind this product is "greasy" and "oily" in a sense (but in a good way, not annoyingly so!) due to the nature of the ingredients, so it leaves a moisturizing film on the skin that will be absorbed. You can see your skin is slightly greasy but at the same time is not sticky by any means and feels dried and ready for the dressing part.
What's better, the skin feels really smooth, moisturized and nourished as well. Ro's Argain manages to keep my skin that way for the whole day. Its hydrating properties are quite strong so I'd recommend it to those with dry or very dry skin - I personally wouldn't use it in summer.

If you struggle with severely dry skin you could use this body conditioner as a strong treatment, applying it on wet skin and towel dry without rinse it off.

To be honest it surely is one of the most luxurious (texture wise), nourishing and hydrating products I've encountered last year.

The scent will linger on the skin for hours but not overwhelmingly so, which makes me love this product even more.

Oh, did I mention it doesn't even make my eczema itchy but help nourishing the area instead? Huge thumbs up!

Unfortunately there's a major downside and that's the price, that's not cheap by any mean at 16£ / 28€ / 33$ a pop.

I'm not using it regularly but for pumpering nights or those days I need that little extra to uplift me a bit and to treat myself with. I wished they set the price lower so I could dive myself into the black heavenly scented pot more often.

Regina di Rose (Ros' Argan)(il cui nome inglese deriva da quello della sua creatrice, tale Rowena - ciao Ro, grazie mille e tante care cose) è una lozione estremamente cremosa, con ingredienti quali olio di mandorle, olio di argan, burro di karité e olio di noci del Brasile.
È pensato per essere usato come si farebbe con un balsamo per capelli: si applica, si aspetta un minuto o due e poi si risciacqua.
Si spalma piacevolmente e facilmente sulla pelle e ne basta una quantità moderata per avere risultati.
Uno dei pro è che permette di uscire dalla doccia e di essere già pronte per vestirsi senza ulteriori tempi di attesa. Da sottolineare però che si tratta di un prodotto un po' "unto" e "oleoso" in un certo senso (ma in quello positivo, non lo è in modo fastidioso) a causa della natura degli ingredienti: rilascia infatti sulla pelle una sorta di strato idratante che verrà poi assorbito. Sotto certe angolazioni si nota la pelle leggermente unta ma al contempo non appiccica per nulla e dà una sensazione asciutta, che permette di passare alla fase 'mi rivesto'.
Ciò che è ancor meglio, è che la pelle risulta molto morbida, idratata ed anche nutrita. Regina di Rose riesce a mantenermi la pelle in quello stato per una giornata intera.
Le proprietà idratanti sono abbastanza intense e quindi lo consiglierei a chi ha problemi di pelle secca o molto secca - io personalmente non lo userei in estate, per dire.
Se avete problemi di pelle tremendamente secca potreste usarlo come un trattamento un po' d'urto, applicandolo sulla pelle bagnata e tamponando con l'asciugamano senza risciacquarlo via.
In tutta onestà questo è uno dei prodotti più nutrienti e idratanti che ho incontrato lo scorso anno.
Il profumo resta sulla pelle per ore ma non in modo stucchevole o esagerato, cosa che mi fa apprezzare ancor di più questo balsamo.
Ah, e l'ho già detto che non mi crea fastidio sulle aree eczematiche (qual vanto...) che mi ritrovo sulle gambe ma che anzi ha aiutato a lenire e nutrire la zona? Pollice su e vai così!

Purtroppo non poteva essere perfetto ed un difetto Regina di Rose ce l'ha ed è il prezzo, che non è economico sotto nessun punto di vista coi suoi quasi 28€. Questo "dettaglio" mi aveva anche inizialmente frenata all'acquisto. Il prodotto lo trovo molto buono e valido, ma 28€ restano una cifra non indifferente per un prodotto che non durerà anni. Ciò che consiglio di fare nell'eventualità è ordinarlo sul sito inglese dove costa 16£ (l'equivalente di 19€) che non è comunque poco, ma sempre meglio di 10€ in più.
Per il suo prezzo non è un prodotto che utilizzo regolarmente ma lo riservo ai momenti di relax o a quei giorni in cui mi serve una spinta di vita in più per partire. Mi piacerebbe solo il costo fosse meno alto in modo da potermi immergere più spesso in quel vasetto nero che profuma divinamente.

Rose Jam is avaiable in three sizes 100ml, 250ml and 500ml and cost varies from 4.65£ to 15.95£. The salesgirl told me this is limited edition and available until stock lasts.
Ro's Argan Body Conditioner is in one size only (225g) and it's part of the permanent line, available all year round at 15.95£.

Regina di Rose gel doccia è disponibile in tre formati da 100ml, 250ml e 500ml ed è attualmente in saldo al 50% (8.90€ circa per 250ml e 4.50€ circa per 100ml). La ragazza da Lush mi ha detto che si tratta di un'edizione limitata, presente fino a esaurimento scorte.
Regina di Rose balsamo corpo è presente in un solo formato (225g) ed è parte della linea permanente, acquistabile durante tutto l'arco dell'anno ad un prezzo di 27,95€.

If you love rose scented products with a twist I highly recommend to check both. Especially if you struggle with dry skin in wintertime try to ask for a sample of Ro's Argan, you likely won't be disappointed.

Se apprezzate i prodotti al profumo di rosa con un tocco in più vi consiglio vivamente di dare un'occhiata ad entrambi. Soprattutto se in inverno lottate con una pelle dalla tipologia secca, provate a chiedere un sampe del balsamo corpo; facilmente non rimarrete deluse.

Ed eccoli qui, i prodotti preferitissimi(?) dell'anno passato. E non è stato sempre spontaneo dover scegliere un solo prodotto per talune categorie - scusatemi altri bellissimi blush per non avervi menzionati, scusa Le Petite Robe Noir di Guerlain per non aver menzionato pure te assieme al profumo Chloé. E che tentazione scrivere fèscion anziché fashion, che è una parola brutta brutta.
Comunque sia, non sono andata troppo nel dettaglio altrimenti il post rischiava di diventare lungo come Il Signore degli Anelli per davvero, ma se avete domande su uno o più prodotti, la sezione commenti è tutta per voi.
